ERSKINE WOOD FLOORS/AMERICAN HARDWOOD FLOORS

The initial bid was misquoted.  When the new flooring was delivered we discovered there was not enough wood.  The bid was adjusted to make up the difference.  Because of my timeline, I could no longer get a competitive bid so just had to pay the difference.  We were going to be gone for a week on vacation so we scheduled the work to be completed that week.  Of course, the mismeasured quote delayed the start and even though we were told the job would be completed on time, when we arrived home we were met with a big sign on the door that we could not enter the house, so had to stay elsewhere for an additonal night.  The weaving of the new floor into existing was exceptional.  The refinishing of the floor, not so much.  The sanding work was uneven and  left noticable indentations in the flooring.  Someof the old finish was not thoroughly sanded next to difficult places to access and/or not well cleaned leaving a rough finish in some places.  One seam was not well sanded and left a ridge between the new and old flooring.  The molding was removed so the floor could be refinished and when replaced and  renailed, large cracks occurred in the molding where the nails were placed.  No attempt to repair with woodfiller.  Nail holes were not filled.  I intially contacted this installer because they installed the floor in the home when it was new.  That job was competed much better than this work.  I did not contact the contractor to express these concerns, but then again I shouldn't have to.

The workmanship was the best I have ever seen. They cut the door frames at the right height for the new floor. They cleaned up after themselves all day long and at the end of the day. It took them four full days. They even had someone in to remove the toilet and pedestal sink. Also they moved the fridge and stove and put them back. The thing that also impressed us is the furnace vents that were installed perfect and really looks like the best job ever. We were very pleased to have them work in our house. I will definitely call them again if we need any more flooring. Last year when I checked thier prices they were very close to a few others including Lowes. This way they took care of everything without me having to schedule the plumber and movers to move all the items above. we basically just sat back and didn't have to do anything but watch and ask why they did things the way they did. All answers were very sincere and very informative.

They had a good price, a good value. They were responsive and the job was down well. I would use them again.

They damaged the woodwork with the sander. There were many marks and nicks on the molding when they put it back. The job manager was great. The workers seemed to just want to get it done. I have small staple holes in places and drops of finish. They left the blue tape on the floor. I had a hard time getting it off. The carpet had finish on it. Todd Erskine was suppose to check it out but never did.

THEY DID A TERRIFIC JOB, MATCHED THE COLOR OF THE FLOORS WE WANTED, AND WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL IN THE PROCESS. TODD WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN ALL ASPECTS OF WOOD FLOORING AND OFFERED MANY HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS. THEY WERE NOT THE LOWEST BID, BUT I BELIEVE THEY DID A QUALITY JOB.
