Things could hardly have been better. At the Charlotte end, Charlotte Van and Storage sent workers to my apartment building and loaded my possessions into the freight elevator and into my apartment. They left the boxes of small stuff in the hallway and I took the boxes in and unpacked them at my leisure. Everything arrived in perfect condition. Nothing was missing. I highly recommend Suddeth.

Only rating 1 star because zero stars not available. AWFUL STRESSFUL experience - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!!! WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!!!!! Worst customer service. This move was the worst we have experienced, mostly because of unqualified movers who were not physically able to lift, carry, do stairs, or other tasks required of physical labor workers such as movers. When the 4 obese men (2 of whom were also in their 50s/60s) arrived for the move, I thought it must be a joke, like I was on candid camera or something. They were obviously completely unfit to perform any moving activities. As a result of this, the move took 13 hours when it was estimated to take 7-8 hr. In addition, and more importantly to us, we had a long list of items that were damaged in the move, including damage to our brand new home. I have moved with professional movers 7 times before, and I have never had this extensive of damage. In addition, when I did have damage in the past, it was addressed within days. We notified our office contact of the issues we were experiencing throughout the move so that they were aware. After receiving the invoice (65% higher than estimated!), we complained that we did not feel we should have to pay for the movers' incompetence when our contents had not changed since the move was estimated and there was no rational reason the move of our 2-bedroom condo should have taken that long. Our contact sent us a slightly revised invoice, which was still not satisfactory. We emailed them a detailed list of reasons as to why the invoice was unacceptable given the abysmal moving and packing performance. We were told they would review it again and send us a revised invoice. Over a month after our move, after I emailed to inquire about the status, we were told they were going to send a revised invoice. By two months after our move, we still had not received the revised invoice. Without an invoice, we could not pay our bill. Without paying our bill, the claims dept could not even contact us regarding the damage that occurred during the move. Although, we were not told this at the time. We were told to contact the claims dept and that they didn't know why we hadn't heard from them. So we did. We left voicemail after voicemail with the claims dept and received NO response from the claims dept! We finally received the invoice after daily calls/emails from us. It was not satisfactory but they would not budge further and for our own sanity, we chose to pay it and move on with our lives because this was such a horrendous experience. It was 3-4 mos before we received any sort of compensation for our damage, and our items were valued at 60 cents/lb, which is ridiculous. This is because we elected not to purchase additional coverage; however, we were misled as to what the basic insurance coverage included and were never clearly told how our items would be valued. A majority of the damage was in the frames and glass of framed artwork. One frame itself cost $200. We had about 20 damaged items in the move, probably totaling close to $1000 of damage, and we received a laughable compensation check of $237. Addition details: Packing: A ridiculous amount of paper was used to pack the boxes and the items were packed completely illogically. The result was that an insane # of cartons was used to pack our 2-bdrm condo, and how do they charge, you ask? BY CARTON, OF COURSE!! On top of that, unpacking was a nightmare because of how illogically and inefficiently everything was packed and how poorly labeled. For example: (1) there was a large box filled with cleaning supplies, a clothes iron, a clothes steamer, TONS of packing paper, and 2 rugs, and the box was labeled "rugs;" (2) the lid to the teapot was not packed anywhere near the actual teapot itself, leading us to search the endless amounts of paper multiple times trying to find the lid (huge waste of time), only to later find the lid wrapped in a large amount of paper in a totally unrelated box; (3) while 2 glass items from kitchen boxes were poorly packed and were shattered in the move, other random items made of plastic or more durable materials (e.g., chopsticks and plastic flatware) were wrapped in a comical amount of paper -- completely illogical and wasteful. Moving: One mover was the laziest and most useless person on both packing day and moving day. He talked a lot and did not work while he talked. He paced a lot. He complained a lot. He also packed the kitchen, and there were 2 shattered glass items from those boxes. All movers were obese and slow and appeared to really struggle physically with the demands of the job. Had we actually had 3 movers who were in decent or even average physical shape, we have no doubt that the move could have been completed as estimated. SAVE YOURSELF - HIRE A DIFFERENT MOVER!!!!!!

You wrote a review for Suddath Relocation Systems 9 minutes ago 9/8/2017 I have moved nearly a half dozen times during the past 15 years, each time using professional movers.  I have never experienced such a horrific move as I did with Suddath when I moved from Minneapolis to Massachusetts.   Not only did the movers leave my furniture on their open, unattended truck for nearly an hour so that they could go to lunch on the day that they loaded my furniture, after promising delivery within a nine day window, the company stored my furniture in their warehouse for seven days before advising me that my furniture would be delivered a week late.  My family and I have been sitting on the floor of our home for nearly two weeks now.  We have a fraction of our clothes and none of our possessions.   We have gone through two air mattresses as our cats have punctured holes in them so we are generally sleeping on the floor.   We have had to pay to eat out every day because we have no dishes, pots or pans.     I reached out to their Corporate offices but they have not been courtesy enough to respond.    Instead the moving coordinator offered up a $100 per day late credit.  That is barely enough to cover the two air mattresses we had to purchase.  As such, poor customer service must be what this company is all about.  I should have used North American, but Suddath came in slightly cheaper.  Ironically, using Suddath actually wound up costing me more.....

The estimate was very accurate, my representative was responsive and the packing and moving team were efficient. Everything arrived in good condition and on time. Our new home presented an logistical issue with the truck and they overcame this with good attitudes

THIS WAS THE BEST USE OF HOME BUYING FUNDS **EVER**. I cannot possibly gush about them enough.  We were living in a very unusually laid out space, with a LOT of things in storage spaces.  We literally had the area of a 3 car garage densely packed with a huge variety of items.  (We moved in together and combined two houses that we had each occupied for about 10 years. We were temporarily in an apartment before purchasing a new house, thus keeping most everything.)  It was also December after a couple huge snowstorms.
I requested that someone come to our current home and give me an estimate of the cost to move us.  In a previous move with a different company they did not do this, and so that estimate was completely off.  The person who came out to estimate was very professional and very detailed.  He went through the house logging everything we owned into estimated numbers of boxes and all other types of items.  He looked through our storage space as well as he could, seeing certain difficult items that were somewhat hidden and forgotten.  He also included our two motorcycles in the estimate.  When he gave me the estimate I was VERY pleased with the price.  It was much less than I had expected based on the aforementioned experience.
Between this time and moving they supplied us with boxes and information about how to prepare certain items like flat screen tvs.
When they came to move us they showed up bright and early, when they said they would. They had a team of four to do the job. It was made clear that one person was in charge, and was the go to guy for anything that came up, which was good to know.  His name was Justin, and he deserves buckets of praise.  He did a fantastic job organizing the plan for the physical task, his team, and our needs.  The rest of the team was also great to interact with. Professional, efficient, hard working, and it was easy to communicate information to them.  At the same time, they were a fun group with whom to work.
All of the floors were well protected in both locations.  A couple of exceedingly fragile pieces of antique furniture were protected and moved with no damage at all.  They moved all of the china, crystal, artwork, and a giant heavy fireproof safe.  In fact, after unpacking everything, the only damage that was found was a tiny crack in one bit of plastic.  They didn't even complain for a second about the dreadful safe that moved two flights of stairs, and around a couple tight corners.
In the end they finished all of the work in 3/4s of the time estimated, and for about 35% less than the estimated price.
I have literally had three addresses in my life, from birth to age 35 (aside from this temporary place.)  Moving is about the most stressful thing that happens.  It has been very very difficult for me.  The stress turns me into a...very...unpleasant...difficult...unhappy...monster on moving day.  These guys made this move smooth, and positively pleasant!   I would have to rate this as the best service experience of any sort, in my entire life, ever. Really, truly.  It is six months later and I'm still gushing this hard over them.

We are very satisfied with the service we received from Barrett Movers.  They were prompt in arriving to begin the move and they were courteous in all of our dealing with them.  They displayed professionalism in all of our interactions with them.

They arrived on time (though not with the crew we had requested and been told we would get) and pretty much performed the move within the time they had given. The final bill, however, came up with an additional fuel charge which had never been discussed, and some fudging on the time it had taken them to get to our location - these were additional charges never disclosed in the estimate.

Nothing was harmed or damaged. The driver were really nice. The packers did not come and pack up the dishes. One of the movers packed them up.

I DIDN'T LIKE THEIR PRE-PACKING, IT WAS UNDER-MANNED. THE DRIVER AND HIS CREW WERE A-1. THEY WERE ON-TIME.
