The furnace in my condo had a crack in the heat exchanger and was red tagged. It was time to replace. I got proposals from several HVAC companies. Most had long lead times due to supply chain issues or a booked schedule, which was an unpleasant proposition given that the colder months were fast approaching. Residential Heating and Air was the last company I contacted. I was immediately impressed by the great customer service and the attentiveness to my needs. Chris, the owner, came over himself to assess the situation and provide an estimate. He was able to find a Magic Pak unit that fit the limited space and provided an estimate that was very competitive. Installation only took four hours, plus another hour for the electrician to finish the hookup. First contact to installation was less than two weeks, which was pretty remarkable, especially given how covid has disrupted the supply chain. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this company.

Very happy. They came fast and found the problem right away and found a recall item unrelated and took care of that too. The part that was faulty and was causing the problem was replaced. It was in stock on the truck. The price was right and so were the technicians.

Back in 2014 my furnace died during a cold snap in December. They happened to be the first people I called and I will admit that I didn't do much research during that time (comparing costs, etc) since it was cold. I got a new furnace installed in December 2016. As part of the warranty, you have to get cleaning's every two years. Things were OK from the start - the installer was very nice and helpful. The front office was not my favorite to work with but I just chalked it up to a bad few days - being busy with the cold snap and all. Two years later I had my annual maintenance performed and during that time, I commented about the knob to my furnace door snapping off randomly. The maintenance guy wrote a comment on my payment slip that a new knob needed to be ordered. A few weeks after he left, I inquired about the knob and was told they would order it. I will admit, I forgot about it unless I specifically went into my utility room and saw it was missing. Then it was always an "oh yeah! I need to call them and inquire on this again" and subsequently forgetting to call. My two year maintenance is coming up again and so a few weeks ago I scheduled it for today (10/5). I mentioned during the call that I was missing the knob and so if they could pull the payment slip the part was on it. If it could be brought with that would be great, but if it was ordered and mailed to me that would work as well. The receptionist/scheduler lady made a note and my appt was scheduled. I have been out of the country the last week or so with no access to internet (where I was staying didn't have access even via wi-fi). Today came and went and my appt was from 1-4. When I called at 4:02pm today, Renee (spelling might be incorrect) let me know she had canceled my appt while I was gone. So I wasn't getting service because the tech was out of the area already. When I expressed my disappointment (because the knob has been missing for over 2 years at this point) she responded by saying that they didn't know I was out of the country when she called and left me two voicemails asking for further information. I let her know that it is not my job to notify them when I am leaving the country for an appt that will be after I get back. There was no reason at all to cancel my appt for a knob that had been missing for years. She then got defensive, said basically that it was all my fault that the appt was cancelled. The reason I am writing this review after a few years is because I want people to know that there are better companies out there. After my furnace was installed, I had friends get new furnaces for way cheaper than here. At the time I didn't write a review because I can't fix the past. But there are a lot of little things that are now adding up to a pretty bad experience. My humidifier that they attached to my furnace leaks and causes flooding to my lower level. My front office experience has always been poor, though the installers were super nice! I inquired about my warranty today and I was told that I have to use this company in order to keep my labor warranty. I will be moving to a different company and losing my labor warranty just because I don't want my time wasted and I don't think cancelling an appointment because of a knob that has been off for more than 2 years is warranted. Hope this review helps! I typically leave really positive reviews so it is strange for me to leave a negative!

I needed to sell my home. The buyers' inspector found a leaky plumbing pipe that is behind the furnace and air ducts. In order for the plumber to fix that leak, the furnace and air duct had to be removed and reinstalled. The problem was that I had the furnace, water heater and water softener were all crammed inside the utility closet. The plumber told me this was going to be tough job to get everything out of the way so he could access the leaky drain pipe. It was only 2 weeks before closing and I had to find an HVAC company quickly. I called Residential Heating and spoke with the owner Chris. Chris asked me take a few photos of the utility closet and send them to him. After he looked at the photos (the one with the furnace and air ducts), he told me right away that he would send someone out to take care of this. I was so relieved to hear that. Because it was in January and the temperatures outside was around 0. I didn't want to cut off heat to my house for too long. I had to coordinate with the plumber who only had one day open during that week. I asked Chris if his technician can remove the furnace first thing in the morning and come back on the same day after the plumber fixed the leak. Chris got back to me in 10 minutes and scheduled the service. It was the coldest time of the year and I knew how hard it must have been to accommodate my service call. Javier was the technician Chris sent over. Javier took a look at the tight space and told me that there could be some gas line and electric wires that would be hard to remove. I was worried. He went to work. After about 2 hours, he got the furnace and air duct removed (the photo without the furnace and air ducts). It was an incredible job. But Javier said that putting the air duct back in place may be challenging. The plumber came over. He was VERY impressed that the space was cleared out for him. It took the plumber 2-3 hours to get the pipe fixed. Then, Javier came back later in the afternoon and got the furnace back in place. It was a HARD job. The equipment was so heavy for one person to lift. But Javier was a SUPERMAN. Our heat was only cut off for 3-4 hours. We got the repair done to meet the buyers' requirement. One week later, the closing went smoothly. I am so grateful for Javier and Chris for helping me out at crunch time. If you need HVAC help, this is THE company you can trust! I recommend Residential Heating to all my friends and family. It is rare to find a service provider who is so willing to help and so skilled at what they do. 2 thumbs up to Residential Heating and Air Conditioning! Will definitely hire them again.

Dave H., the sales contact, was informative without being a high pressure/now or never sales. Dave was great and timely when I asked him for more refined bids two months after initially talking with him. He was really helpful and smoothly handled a small glitch we ran into when the tank removal required more expertise. The team members: asbestos, installer, electrician, tank expert all did a great job of talking with each other. I was impressed. Chad, the lead installer, had a collaborative spirit and regularly let me know what was going on when discussed duct work placement, etc. The electrician, Javier, fully explained adjustments to me. I went with the mid range Daikin model furnace and have been super happy. I highly recommend Residential Heating. My project was completed in eight days in October; within two months I received my Center Point rebate. I'm still trying to get my Xcel rebate; but I don't fault Residential for this!!

Superbly! Explained areas of concern with this type of furnace and also explained the planned annual inspection plan's pros and cons. In the end, I subscribed to the plan. Cost below includes the upcoming summer AC tune up as well.

A phishing scam! I hired this company instead of my usual furnace pros because they were slightly cheaper. I needed to get my furnace inspected and signed off on so I could sell my house. My furnace had been in perfect working order to this point and I've had it serviced every year that i lived there. The tech took about an hour looking things over and then told me he wouldn't sign off on it because it "was old and could break after he left." He said although nothing was broken, I needed to contract his company for $2,000 worth of repairs before he would certify my furnace for sale. I knew he was phishing for $$ so I said thanks but no thanks and immediately called my usual furnace pros. They signed off on the furnace with no issues. Spend the extra $20 and hire professionals.
Response from Residential Heating & Air Conditioning
"This customer scheduled for a Heat Certification which the City/State have strict safety standards, forms and extensive testing that is required. This is why very few companies have the credentials to be able to a Heat Certification. Sadly, when a furnace is older the likelihood of it passing these standards are smaller. And due to the possibility for danger to a new homeowner or renter we are held to the rigid standards our licensing requires. When a furnace fails the certification testing we are left no choice but to "Red Tag" the furnace, taking it out of operation. We understand this can frustrate a seller/landlord, but we cannot put anyone's life at risk to save a few dollars! Our impartial judgement is based on test results nothing more. We would rather break the bad news that the furnace failed than see carbon monoxide fill a home. We also take color digital pictures proving this, and show the homeowner! If a company that does not have the high standards, new technology and equipment we have signs off then they will be liable, unfortunately!"

They charge kind of a bit for looking at my practically new furnace. I have a feeling with a new furnace, they probably go a little faster than if it was an old one. The price seems high. They are suppose to do a print out of the gases and do a reading. The first time they came to do that there wasn't enough ink in the printer and you couldn't read it. He said it passed, but it wasn't readable. They came out right away. I will continue to use them for the bi-yearly service.

When they installed it, they actually installed it backwards so they had to come out and turn the furnace 180. They were happy to do it, they didn't charge me extra. It was kind of weird. I am stuck with them because of the warranty.

The tech came out and was very thorough in testing our furnace and then in inspecting our current set-up. He explained very clearly to me what the problem was and that he was going to have to red-tag our furnace as inoperable. Then, he provided a very clear estimate with several furnace options to choose from, along with the rebates we could receive with each. Lastly, he told us when we could expect to have the new one installed. The day of install went great! My only criticism (and it's minor) is that the workmen left my basement floor filthy and I had to mop.

The tech who came over was nice and was on time. He took a quick look at the leak and said that he couldn't fix it. Told me that I would have to replace the entire part (Fan housing and motor even though the motor and fan worked fine except for the seal) or since the furnace was 10 years old, I could replace the entire furnace. I told him that I definitely didn't want to replace the furnace (it is a high efficiency furnace that is 10 years old), but would like to fix the fan leak. He said that he had to order entirely new part which was $1250. That seemed ridiculous to just fix a small leak. So, I looked online. The part retails new for around $650 - $750. Takes about a half hour of labor to replace it, which I had already prepaid with their $150 trip/estimate charge. So, roughly a $500 markup on the part. I also learned online that is fairly easy to just replace the seal. So, instead of paying them for the new part and work, I had to loosen a couple screws and then redo the seal. The cost was about an hour of my time and $10 for furnace Hi Temp silicon. I am not sure the reason that the furnace company couldn't do this instead of me. But, I would have gladly paid them for their labor to do it. The entire experience was very frustrating and could have been very expensive.
Response from Residential Heating & Air Conditioning
"We are saddened that the home owner chose an internet DIY fix. We do not do this simply because the seals are factory installed and we are liable if damage occurs because we put a band aid on it. So we offer motor replacement at a profit because we are a business who employs technicians with degrees, comp cards, and additional training/education who understand the engineering of HVAC equipment. This is unfortunate that internet misleads people with these "fixes" often recommended by someone who is not educated in HVAC. But with todays technology some people choose cheaper DIY over proper repairs and we will not lower our standards of quality! Also before scheduling we ensure that our customers understand the diagnostic fee of $149 that is only refundable toward new equipment. We also tell customers there are discounts available at Angie's List for this service. We appreciate this feedback but are unable to offer subpar fixes based on incorrect internet recommendations."

It went very well. The fellow called ahead of time to say he was on his way. He was very courteous, very clean, and went the extra mile to accept my request to take out the humidifier unit so I could clean it, and then he put it back in.

The hands-down worst experience I have had with a contractor in my life. We had a new furnace installed in June. Though the installation did not go without issues, I feel that any focus on that would distract from the true issue. The customer service from the "service manager" Renee was horrendous! She is condescending, disrespectful, aggressive, and mean. I don't even expect this from a 15 year-old making minimum wage, but from the person in charge??? Wow. My wife and I had 2 experiences independent of each other that were the exact same. I can get worked up when talking to someone who does not follow logic and rules of customer care, but my wife is mild-mannered. I have never heard her so upset after talking to someone. Renee accepts zero responsibility for her actions or the actions of her company. I was thinking of analogizing it to arguing with a teenager about curfew, but that would be disrespectful to so many teenagers who can discuss an issue with respect. In addition to the customer service issues, we had a rough experience with the people that came to clean our ducts. They tromped dirt throughout our house and left both dog gates open. We have a blind older dog that easily could have fallen down the stairs. Instead of going downstairs, she went out into the living room and peed on the carpet. Additionally, they scuffed paint and damaged our walls with their equipment. This was not one innocent mistake, this is a training issue. What really got to us was not the service itself, but Renee's response. She took zero responsibility and claimed that it was not their issue because we didn't say that we had a dog. Hmmm.
