The Hedge Trimmer broke within 5 minutes of using it. When tried to return the item for reimbursement, Patty, the Store Manager, refused to honor the store refund policy because the item was considered a and quot;whole goodand quot; and they will not take returns on whole goods! WHAT?!
No where on the store receipt or warranty is there a DEFINITION of a WHOLE GOOD!
The Echo warranty does NOT classify the item as a whole good. This term is undefined in writing. Patty could NOT show me the definition of a whole good in writing. Clearly the store chooses to define this VERBALLY, at THEIR DISCRETION as to determine what is refundable or not. When I asked her what was considered to be a whole good...she said and quot; anything with a Serial Number is referred to as a whole good!and quot; What?! Practically everything this stores sells has a serial number! How convenient.
Patty said they will agree to have the item repaired, but could not give an estimated time for repair. Could be week? Two weeks? We spent $300 on a hedge trimmer that does not work. From my experience, this store does not honor returns, refunds, or replacements. Echo is supposed to be top of the line for quality of product and warranty, however, if the distributor doesn't honor it, than what good is the warranty?
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM PRAIRIE LAWN AND GARDEN!!! The risk is too high, the service is too poor, and the prices are not competitive. I'm willing to pay more if the service and trust of the provider is good. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.
I regret doing business with Prairie Lawn and Garden! Lesson learned. Your purchase is only as good as the manufacturer and the store that represents them.

Well. I took the lawn mower to Prairie Lawn and Garden before we consult Angie's list because Prairie Lawn and garden is an authorized dealer for the brand of lawn mower we owned. We hardly send any business to places not recommended by Angie's list. The fairly new Lawn Mower stopped working because the mulch plug locking level was not fully in locked position - our mistake. Prairie Lawn and Garden charged only the cleaning cost after they noticed our mistake. We had to wait for 2 weeks prior to knowing the reason for the lawn mower not working and getting our lawn mower back. We thought it would cost a lot more and was happy to get back a working Lawn mower without spending a lot of money. They should be commended for being honest.

Work was completed. The bill was approx $100 more than expected. This is due to some additional work that was done. I was told orally by the counter person that routine service would be performed for $69 per mower. I stated clearly at the time that there was nothing wrong with the mowers, they were working fine, I just wanted routine service. When the mowers were picked up last week, additional "repairs" had been done on one of the mowers. There was nothing wrong with it, I simply wanted a routine checkup. Their policy states they may do some repairs if needed, but in any event will call if the total exceeds $150. The total for one of my mowers was $153. I did not get a call. I was treated rudely as though I had no business questioning their decision to "repair" my mower.

They were able to replace the parts necessary and provided some good tips on use and storage. The price included both a tune up and some repair. I brought the snow blower into the shop in late September and they were finished in a week. Good turnaround.
