"Response from the Blue Sky Owner This review is libel and slander. Here are the facts: When a home is put on the market the NFPA 211 indicates that the chimney be inspected. It's called a Level II inspection. Circumstances requiring a Level II Inspection NFPA 211 15.4.1 Circumstances. A Level II inspection shall be conducted under the following circumstances: (1). Upon addition or removal of one or more connected appliances or upon replacement of an appliance with on more dissimilar type, input rating, or efficiency, unless the last connected appliance is removed and chimney use will be discontinued (2). Prior to relining of a flue or replacement of flue lining, in accordance with 7.1.10 3. Upon sale or transfer of the property. 4. After a building or chimney fire, weather or seismic event, or other incident likely to have have caused damage to the chimney 5. At other times as indicated in Section 15.3 Due Disclosure In Minnesota, sellers of residential property must provide prospective buyers with a written disclosure before a purchase agreement is signed. This disclosure, required by Minnesota Statute § 513.55, includes all material facts the seller knows that could adversely affect a buyer's use or enjoyment of the property. Our #1 Mission and Priority is Safety. Our mission is to provide safety information to our homeowners on their fireplaces and chimneys and to keep our communities safe. Our Mission is the Mission of the National Fire Protection Association and that's to eradicate loss of lives, injury, property, and economic damages due to fire, electrical, and other related hazards. We fully and completely comply with and report on the National Fire Protection Association 211 Fire Codes and Standards. We found NFPA 211 fire code violations with this home's fireplace and chimney when the Level II inspection was performed. Due disclosure required this information be made known. And it was. Vital safety information. That's factually what occurred here."
"This is the owner of Blue Sky. I've fully reviewed your chimney file and our inspection newly. I 100% stand by our company's findings. Important: We fully and completely comply with and report on the National Fire Protection Association 211 Fire Codes and Standards. We fully and completely follow and comply with and report on any NFPA 211 fire code violations to our homeowners. We found NFPA 211 fire code violations with your flue liners and reported this to you. Our inspection report to you is factual, objective and in compliance with these standards. We also found damage to the liner system consistent with exposure to a chimney fire incident. Key Questions: WHO is reporting to you that the flue liners meet the industry standard NFPA 211 standards? Did these companies do a standard and required Chimney Safety Institute of America Level II inspection complete with a camera evaluation of the flue liners? Did they provide you flue liner pictures and provide you with an evaluation of your flue liners against the current NFPA 211 fire codes? Are these companies industry certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America? Did these companies cite the NFPA 211 code standards in their reports to you? Did you know that any CSIA certified chimney company is bound by a code of ethics to fully report any NFPA 211 violation? These are key safety questions involving your fireplaces. I strongly recommend that you follow up with whomever provided you with these assessments. Here is some information for you on my company: Blue Sky is A+ with the BBB, we have an A rating with Angie's List and are Super Service Award Winners, we're industry certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. We have a superlative Five Star Home Advisor rating. We have hundreds and hundreds of very positive reviews from our many homeowners. We are licensed, insured, bonded and certified and my masons and technicians have extensive professional experience and we build and repair chimneys to the very rigorous Brick Institute of America standards and the National Fire Protection Association 211 Code standards. We deliver what we promise and exceed our homeowners' expectations. I am more than willing to sit down with you and/or representatives from these other companies and objectively go over our findings and evaluations and the applicable NFPA 211 codes and standards applicable to your fireplaces. Note: Our repeated efforts to contact this individual to get his response to our objective and factual information that fully contradicts his erroneous statements have been met with no response. His silence speaks loudly."
"We provided unconditionally exceptional service and saved this homeowner thousands of dollars by successfully helping her file her insurance claim and get the work completed. This homeowner has a fully functioning fireplace and chimney that's added a tremendous amount of value to her home. Aggressive tactics? We offered to "save a stamp" and picked up her final payment. If you'd like to save a stamp on your final payment to Blue Sky for our exceptional work then by all means just ask and we'll provide you with our "aggressive tactics" as well!"
"Response from Blue Sky Owner This review is non-factual and reckless. It was non-factual in 2017 and remains non-factual to this date. Our interior camera inspection revealed much much more than "minor defects." Instead, what was found were actually fractures and voids in the liner system. What was found were actual fire code violations. This was reported to the homeowner. This was not a "con" but factual information provided to this homeowner. For a homeowner to be provided with a factual NFPA Fire Codes fireplace report with actual pictorial documentation of the fire code violations and fireplace safety information and then to communicate it's a "con" is both irresponsible and libelous. I have the 2017 fire code violation pictures on file to this date and available. I'm willing to sit down with the homeowner and go over the 2017 report and findings. The concern is that this homeowner may be still using a fireplace that per the NFPA fire codes should be repaired prior to any usage despite being provide with the fire safety information."
"Reply from Blue Sky Owner Thanks for the review. I pulled the 2017 file for review. The work we recommended is based on the National Fire Protection Association 211 standards. Did you know it is standard to have a full fireplace and chimney inspection done when you sell a home? Good for you for getting this step done. We did our standard inspection and found fire code violations with the liner system and this was reported to both seller and buyer. That is a common scenario on home sales and the statutes on due disclosure apply here. Our primary mission is safety in our communities and we deliver that by rigorous application of the NFPA fire codes and the MN residential codes. We take safety very seriously. Thanks for helping keep our communities safe. I acknowledge that home sales can be quite stressful. Senior to stress is doing the right thing so hats off to you."
