Don't bring your animal here, ever. Vet had no clue as to treatment even though we walked in with a specific cause for the symptoms our dog was showing - he had eaten a fairly large amount of something toxic and we knew exactly what it was. Vet had to "look it up on the internet" and call the poison helpline (which I could have done myself). Then proceeded to suggest this wasn't really the cause and that perhaps we had mistreated, aka kicked our dog and caused "blunt force trauma" leading to our dog peeing blood. The nerve!!! Vet wanted to run tests upward of $1,000, mostly unnecessary and unhelpful. No medication was prescribed because without all the tests they won't prescribe anything. Walked out paying $250 for no solution other than being told to wait a day or two to see if things improve. Not to mention the hour wait time after the bogus diagnosis just so I could get the paperwork. I ended up getting my dog homeopathic help to address the issue. What an awful experience!

We brought our critically ill dog to this emergency veterinary service on a Sunday evening. When we had trouble getting him out of the car, they immediately brought a gurney out and helped us with the greatest of care. Every care was taken for our state of mind and for the utmost care of Bonz, our dog. Bonz was diagnosed immediately - they immediately had a vet to care for him despite others in the waiting area. Unfortunately the prognosis was not good and Bonz was in severe distress. Once the decision was made by us to have him put out of his misery, the care and concern for us was incredible as that of our dogs to make sure he was comfortable and that we got to take our time saying goodbye. We were given many choices and everything was explained in great care to us. The care shown us was so genuine and helpful.Today I went in to pick up Bonz' ashes and they were presented with such compassion. They even presented us with his paw print in clay with instructions how to bake it after we completed it as we wanted it for display. That was totally unexpected and so sweet. A very nice memento to have. His ashes were also contained in a lovely embroidered bag with a certificate.
Unfortunately, this is the 2nd dog we've had to bring in to this emergency service in the last 6 months. The other was my parents' dog. Both experiences were flawless, professional, and genuinely compassionate. I didn't find the charges out of line at all for the services. They are open 24 hours and I would consider them in the future for any animal care that is needed, emergency or othewise.

We brought in our injured dog. Everyone we spoke to and dealt with at this office were genuinely kind, knowledgeable, empathetic, and professional. We were very impressed by the speed with which our case was handled, the time they took with us to help us make the decision, and the care with which they cared for our dog. They were very careful and understanding of our anguish and feelings. I would definitely bring any animal of mine back to this office.

We admitted our 5 week old, 2 pound puppy to AEVS because he was lethargic and vomiting. We witnessed the vet tech on duty insert a digital thermometer way too far into the puppy''s rectum almost TWO INCHES! The AEVS team was unable to definitively diagnose the cause of the symptoms, and the puppy stayed there overnight. In the morning, we transferred the puppy to our regular vet, and upon picking him up noticed a lot of swelling near his anus and he was very painful to the touch around his rear/haunches area. Our regular vet was able to diagnose his condition right away as a rectal tear, and recommended emergency surgery to repair it. Unfortunately, bloodwork revealed he was too far gone to survive surgery and he was euthanized. A necropsy report confirmed he died from a rectal tear. As a long time breeder, our pups are kept in a safe and clean environment and the puppy was not ever put in an environment where he could have had anything inserted/impaled into him, and the perforation was not caused by something that was ingested. The AEVS clinic denies any responsibility related to the death.

Our local vet recommended that we bring our dog to Affiliated Emergency Vet Services when she was noted to have some abnormal labs and, since it was over the Christmas holiday, it would be several days before they could see her again. Dr. Doug Allen gave good and reasonable care in the ER; he suggested that Dr.Jessica Horton see our dog for an abdominal ultrasound and perhaps a liver biopsy. After a very long wait, a tech came in to get a consent form signed for an ultrasound and needle biopsy. My husband said he wouldn't sign until he spoke with the veterinarian performing it (to discuss why, risks/benefits, etc.) They became flustered and we found out after reading the discharge summary in detail it was because the ultrasound and biopsy were already done! It appears that the two veterinarians either didn't communicate, or, more likely, that Dr. Horton just went ahead with the tests without ever speaking with us.
We took our dog home without ever talking to Dr. Horton, and ended up taking our dog to the U of M Veterinary Hospital where we got compassionate, excellent care right up to the point of finding she had a very bad form of cancer and had to put her down.

Everybody was very kind. I got in immediately but that was luck as nobody was in at 1:00 A.M. My actual payment was less than the estimate.

They were fantastic. We thought the price was high but it was an emergency situation so we had to pay it and there was nothing else open. This was the first time we've used them and we were pretty pleased. Given the situation they were very understanding and gave us several options.

Excellent. You always have to expect to wait at the emergency vet when your animal's injury is not life-threatening or as serious as another's, so we had to wait a bit, but were always kept informed. There were many animals there that night and Dr. Erica Moore and the techs handled them all competently and efficiently. One dog came in w/a stick lodged in his throat, so he needed to be seen and treated first, then another with a broken leg. There were a few more dogs and cats that came in while we were there, too. In between treating the others, Dr. Moore stopped in to check my dog to see what was needed and was open to doing stitches under a local since my 12-yr-old greyhound has had issues w/anesthesia and her throat closing up. The tech put a topical on my dog's tail and brought her back to us while that took affect and they tended to other emergencies. Once the stick was out of the other dog's throat and the dog w/the broken leg was sedated, the tech came for Kandy to do the stitches. They did a beautiful job of stitches and my dog has healed well without complications. We are so thankful to have AEVS!!! They have saved the life of one of my dogs with bloat in the past and tended to another that had acute pancreatits (they know the ropes w/the proper tests, plasma, etc.). I've always been very pleased with the vets and techs at the Eden Prairie AEVS and I am very particular about the quality of my dogs' care!!!

We brought our dog to AVS two times over the last month for seizures. Our dog developed seizures in March and was put on medication in early April. When we could not control the seizures over the weekend we brought our pet to AVS for treatment and monitoring. Everyone that we met and interacted with was extremely knowledgeable and supportive as our dog recovered. Unfortunately we had to put our dog to sleep the last time we brought her in because her seizures could no longer be controlled with medication. The staff at AVS let us spend time with our dog and was of comfort to us throughout the entire process. I highly recommend AVS in Eden Prairie to anyone who needs emergency assistance with a pet. They are professional, knowledgeable, and present you with options and a wealth of information for you to make decisions regarding the treatment of your pet.

Although my greyhound did not recover and ended up passing away, he received exceptional care, monitoring and treatment while at AEVS. When my regular vet heard that Dr. Bitu was on duty when I checked my dog in, she said she knew him and was very impressed by his abilities. Dr. Kevin Bitu and Dr. Rick Yantes were his primary caregivers and both were so very kind and gentle with my dog; they also knew how to properly diagnose and aggressively treat acute pancreatitis. They had the capability of transfusing fresh frozen plasma to treat the pancreatitis. They gave his medications, antibiotics, fluids via IV. I was able to visit my dog regularly and the entire staff made sure he was kept comfortable. Dr. Yantes called me and told me that he evaluated my dog by sitting in his kennel with him and just sat with him for a while - this was extremely kind. Both Dr. Bitu and Dr. Yantes gave me regular updates every time they tested his his blood. When my dog did not improve after a couple days, despite all the IV medications, plasma transfusion, etc., Dr. Bitu referred me to either the U of M or MVRS for further assessment/treatment. At that point, my dog still looked like he could be saved, was walking on his own, etc., but his bilirubin kept climbing and the pancreatitis wasn't improving. I took him to Dr. Goullaud at MVRS, who reviewed all the records and said AEVS had done everything right and he thought maybe things had finally peaked and we still had a chance to save my dog. We continued treatment with IV's, more plasma, IV nutrition, but then my dog had a seizure and took a bad downhill turn. After the seizure, he continued to decline to the point that we realized there would be no recovery and we had to let him go. I have been to AEVS with other dogs in the past, including a 13-yr-old shep-x for bloat surgery, and have always received great quality care for my dogs. My dog that bloated survived, despite having a lot of complications. I am very impressed with AEVS-Eden Prairie and feel very fortunate that this exceptional level of care available.

The vet and clinic staff were all compassionate and friendly. I felt they were genuinely concerned about my cat. The wait to see the vet was over two hours although there were some more critical cases that came in after I did that understandably were a higher priority. They did a good job keeping me updated as to what was going on once my cat was seen by the vet and had tests done. The vet, Dr. Erica Moore, explained things clearly and answered all my questions. They gave me a printed report with instructions and information about my cat's condition. The clinic also called me a week later to check on how my cat was doing. I would definitely go to this clinic again if needed!

They were generous with updates and offers for us to spend time with our pet while he was hospitalized. The dog has fully recovered and the the final price was over $300.00 LESS than originally quoted.

Our 9-month old puppy had bloody diarrhea and vomiting. She couldn't eat and was getting very weak. They kept her on IV overnight. Gave her medication to control the symptoms. Gave us the option of boarding her at our regular vet the next day to save money. They also offered an array of tests. Advised us which were most necessary and which were less urgent, to reduce the cost. We opted to finish her treatment there to minimize her distress. She left within 24 hours. With medications and a special diet for 2 weeks to allow her digestive tract to heal. The staff was very competent and caring. Gave her lots of attention. Even laid down next to her cage when she felt lonely! They remembered her when we returned later for a minor concern.

THEY WERE EXTREMELY FRIENDLY, CARING, AND VERY HELPFUL. THEY GOT US IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AND THEY WERE HONEST ABOUT TASHA'S CHANCES FOR IMPROVEMENT. TASHA WAS NERVOUS AND NOT VERY FRIENDLY, BUT THEY HANDLED HER WITH CARE AND SKILL. WHEN IT CAME TIME TO HAVE HER PUT TO SLEEP, THEY WERE SO UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORTIVE. THEY GAVE US AS MUCH TIME AS WE NEEDED AFTERWARDS AND WERE SO COMPASSIONATE. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WHO HAS AN ANIMAL WITH AN EMERGENCY. I LIKED THAT THEY WERE OPEN 24 HOURS. THEIR PRICES FOR TASHA'S TREATMENT WERE QUITE HIGH, BUT I GATHER THAT IS THE GOING RATE FOR THE KINDS OF TREATMENTS AND SERVICES SHE GOT. ALL THE STAFF WERE GREAT, WITH ONLY ONE MINOR ISSUE WITH ONE OF THE VETERINARIANS WHO HAD A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION ABOUT WHETHER WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO TREAT TASHA. HOWEVER, EVEN HE GAVE US A GUARDED ASSESSMENT (WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE CASE). I WOULDN'T HESITATE TO TAKE ANY FUTURE ANIMAL TO THIS HOSPITAL. THEY WERE OUTSTANDING.
