She was an expensive dog, but we did everything we could for her. It’s expensive, but they didn’t push every little thing like the heart worm.

The vet, Dr. Emmily, was very professional and had a great bedside manner with my dog. Very friendly and professional service. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else.

We had been in frequent consultation with the veterinarians about our dog's needs in order to handle the large tumor in her mouth, difficulty eating and some bouts with difficulty breathing. The staff was so understanding, thoughtful and extremely professional. On that final day when our emotions were raw, the entire staff was so considerate and caring and the final moments were indeed comforting because of their efforts. We have had several other dogs that had to be put down in old age at other veterinarians and none of those times compared to the respect and comfort given by the staff at North Shore.

I was there for one of the appointments; my parents dealt with the diagnosis and treatment of the cat. My parents were pretty happy with this facility; they were supportive and helpful throughout the process. I think my folks chose them because of the convenient location and the good reviews on Angie's List.

In the end we spent approximately one and half hours to get a Distemper Booster (2nd year) and have his nails trimmed which was never done because they said my dog was too OVERWROUGHT by that time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as was I....I might add)
So my dog had a SECOND and quot;ANNUALand quot; EXAM WITHIN TWO MONTHS, got THREE shots when his appointment was for ONE.....NEVER did get his nails trimmed.....AND the DEBRIS ISSUE with his EARS was never addressed when that was found on the second annual exam. Within a couple of days his one ear was INFLAMED....the one she DIDN'T mention on the invoice but had verbally told me about. I paid the $145.09 bill and fled.
When I called the next to day upon actually examining the invoice which I did not do at the vet in my desire to get the heck out of that place the day of the abuse.....I asked why I was being charge for a SECOND and quot;ANNUALand quot; EXAM when one had been done the month before. I might add that I was actually told by the receptionist when I made the appointment that there would be NO VET CHARGE if the vet entered the room because state law requires the vet to Give the IMMUNIZATIONS but only the immunization is billed. I was told by that same reception person she was the one who told me that and she did not that my dog had indeed had an exam the month before so she would get back to me about that charge. A week later I was told Dr. Anderson would NOT BE REFUNDING the ANNUAL EXAM CHARGE I had paid that was done unnecessarily.
CLEARLY Dr. Anderson did not bother to read my dogs record before seeing him. I have never been to a vet who did not spend 3-5 minutes getting to know my pet before expecting to touch them all over. Even Dr. Hargrove had done so on my initial visit. Furthermore...since she did the exam and found EAR ISSUES she should have taken care of THAT so my dog didn't end up with another ear infection within a few days. My REGULAR vet I saw shortly after this FLUSHED BOTH EARS, gave me detailed information about ear infections....more ear wash and an ointment that was much easier to use than the liquid I was initially given
PLUS trimmed his nails and had no problems whatsoever with my dog and I did actually ask since he was taken to a back room for his ear wash and nail trim.
In the end I have returned to my regular vet who is quite a distance awat and the only reason I had tried North Shore Vet is that I am now disabled and did not want to make that long drive. SADLY, THIS WAS A MAJOR MISTAKE!!!! I ADORE MY and quot;REGULARand quot; VETS!!!!
North Shore Vet Clinic gave treatment (shots) not due, an exam not needed and did NOT provide the appointment requested nail trim after scaring the crap out of my dog and MAKING him OVERWROUGHT (along with myself and verbally abusing me). They made money off the exam and shots not due to the tune of $48.63 (exam), $31.30 (Lyme vaccine not yet due), and $$19.70 (Rabies vaccine not yet due) and failed to treat the DEBRIS found in BOTH EARS and my dog had a raging ear infection within 3 days. I would not have minded paying for the SECOND and quot;ANNUALand quot; EXAM WITHIN TWO MONTHS if the results found would have been treated avoiding the ear infection.
Despicable!
This is VERY SHODDY BUSINESS PRACTICE.

We took our pets here for many years and were always happy with the veterinarians and clinic staff. It's a top-notch operation. Everyone is competent and compassionate. The facility is sparkling clean. Our favorite vet moved away and now I'm trying a different clinic in an attempt to save money, but I might return.

We recently relocated to Duluth, MN and found North Shore Veterinary Hospital based on the recommendations of other Angie's List members. We were seen within 5 minutes of arriving to the clinic. The office staff was friendly and helpful. The vet tech remained with us throughout the appointment and was patient and kind to my dog who is typically extremely nervous during veterinarian visits. All assessments were thoroughly explained and alternative options were reviewed. The veterinarian spent a good amount of time with us. I never felt that she was pressured for time or in a hurry. An effective treatment plan to help our dog deal with her skin and eye allergies was developed. Our dog's allergy symptoms have now significantly improved. We will definitely return for all routine care for our dog.

20 miles distant from my locale, even though there are other clinics nearby I continue to patronize NSVH for ALL facets of care for my beloved "children". Even though my precious girl - at the age of thirteen years - succumbed to the ravages of cancer, I know without doubt that everything humanely possible was compassionately done to assure dignity, quality, and comfort ... not only in this most critical time of need, but throughout her life. I would welcome anyone considering establishing a long-term relationship with an area veterinary clinic to call or email me for an more in-depth review, at anytime: (218) 206-2035 • [email protected]

I have used NSVH for more than 15 years with all of my animal family members. Every doc and staff member has treated us with care, compassion, and courtesy, and have remembered my pets and even cried with us when they passed. They are professional, caring, knowledgeable, and can be counted on to take excellent care of our furry companions through all stages of life. Facility is also clean, sunny, and pleasant.
