After choosing make and model of devices and date to install, the display showed most of the time a blank blue screen.
Re-ordering a replacement display which also did not work properly, a third display was ordered and installed. This time after a week of use it is performing nicely.
The patience of Dad's management and installer through the above trial was excellent.
