We recently moved to Duluth and our new home did not have any air conditioning. We went through ASP to install a mini split. RJ was the rep we worked with and he was top notch. Explained options thoroughly, gave recommendations, yet not pushy. Service was very timely. As can be the case with any home updates, we did hit a “snag” but those we worked with at ASP, and a special shout-out to RJ, got things taken care of, and was very professional. It is easy to give good reviews when all goes according to plan, but true character is shown and proven through challenges. I give ASP and RJ my highest recommendation as they have proven themselves with solid service, great product, and putting the customer first. On top of that - so nice to be comfortable in the house due to the new mini split with air conditioning and heat pump! Wade Mathers

CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY! TLDR: They knocked out my heat in the middle of winter and charged me $200 to turn it back on. I hired a plumber to verify that the tankless boiler in our new construction house was converted properly to use propane. The plumber left without turning the gas back on, which caused the unit to get an error code and stop working. This knocked out our hot water and our heat. I didn't notice immediately that the heat was knocked out because it's radiant in-floor heat, which takes a very long time to cool down/heat up. I spent 30 minutes or so on the phone with the plumber to clear an error code (004) on the unit, which was caused by it trying to start with no gas supply (recall he left the gas off when he left the job!). Finally, after clearing the error code, we have residential hot water- little did I know that the code also had to be cleared on the radiant side of the unit, so my heat was still out. I became certain that my heat was not working about 36 hours after the plumber knocked it out. They sent a different person, an HVAC guy, out to see what the problem was and determine if it was their fault. Even though he had to clear the exact same error code (004) on the radiant side of the unit, he said it was not their fault, he cleaned an ignitor, and had to charge me $200. I paid him after a little bit of arguing because I realized I shouldn't waste his time with it. I called the office to explain the situation to them. The office lady insisted it was not their fault, she could not refund my money, but I would receive a call from the department manager. It has now been 3 weeks and I have not received a call. This whole fiasco was created by a plumber not verifying his work- he left without turning the gas back on! So he obviously could not have verified the system was working when he left. Making mistakes is fine- everyone makes mistakes. But to charge your customer $200 to fix your company's mistake? Despicable!

I was surprised with their responsiveness. Someone was to the house minutes after I called. They were able to install a new water heater what seemed like only minutes after; perhaps an hour. They discussed options and even reoriented the new heater so that it was easier to access if the pilot light goes out.

Drew was my technician. What a wonderful, professional young man! He explained everything he was going to do, showed me how it worked when he was finished . Price was fair. I have used this company in the past and have never been anything but satisfied! I will never use another plumber but ASP!

ASP was the ONLY business that I sent an email to through Angie's List to respond. They responded the same day and sent out someone the next business day. I received the estimate, and the person doing the estimate (whose name I can't recall, sorry) did some moving around and got someone there the next day. Paul, who did the work, was outstanding. Easygoing, friendly, but still not at the expense of getting the work done. I felt he did a great job considering the severity of the crack. (The upper apartment hadn't been in use for years, so the crack went undetected for that time and was a good 1/8 to 1/4" wide along a section of pipe that had to be 4 feet long at least.) ASP came in on time, and within the estimate range. I would definitely consider them for any future work I may need.

The gal in the office was courteous and gave me an idea of when they can show up.  She called me a bit later to say they were finished with a nearby job and were on their way (two hours earlier than originally scheduled).  That kind of communication was greatly appreciated.  The guys showed up as she said, they were prompt, professional and fast!!

It went well.  He got the job done quickly and also tightened my shower head so it would not drip.  Very good professional service.  I thought it was expensive but then have to admit that it was worth it to have a bathtub that drains freely.

Start was almost an hour late, no call to let us know running behind.  The bathtub sink stopper wasn't working.  The diagnosis was we'd have to replace guts of stopper.  The cost for the initial hour visit was $185.  Then an additional $450 (on top of $185 already paid) to fix the stopper during another visit.  $600+ for bathtub sink stopper repair seemed excessive.

The overall repair was good, we had been trying to find somebody in Duluth to make this repair for 18 months after the first guy screwed it up even worse then what it was.  ASP got us on their schedule committed to a date to do the work and then farmed out the actual waterline replacement. From start to finish it took about 4 weeks, to dig a hole, replace the waterline, dig up the hole after the back filling crushed the sewer pipe (which they replaced at no additional cost) replace the sidewalk they had to dig up and put down a temporary driveway.  Stuff happens so I'm not faulting anybody for the delays just wish we had a little more communication as to what was going on, I always had to call and initiate the conversation I wasn't getting updates and since I don't live at the house I was just trusting the guy.  I would use ASP again, they got the job done, they cleaned up after themselves in the house, and dealt with the collapsed sewer pipe quickly.

2 different workers came to my house. The first one was just the drain cleaner and it took him 2 hours to clear the drain which I thought was a long time and made the cost go up for his time. When he left there was some dripping from a pipe joint under the sink but the kitchen drain has run free ever since.  A week later I called to have the remainder of the job done (remove garbage disposal) and to have the drip fixed. This required a licensed plumber and took another 2 hours.  Several months later I had a back-up of my sewer line and I used a different company that specialized in sewers. I got that worker upon recommendation of the company that did my basement waterproofing.

I wanted to install an old clawfoot bathtub, tolet and bathroom sink in basement room.  Supervisor that gave estimate did a good job explaining issues with job including need to install backflow valve that would increase cost.  Without this install would not pass inspection if I sold home.  Job was to take 1 to 1.5 days.  It took 3 days due to issues they had with scheduling waiting for concrete to set and amount of work that had to be done.  All in all they did good work and were able to do extra stuff we needed done besides just connecting fixtures.

I called ASP and they were able to come out the next day.  It didn't take long for ASP to assess problem that was causing the leak.  Unfortunately, the plumber's truck was having repairs done so he had to leave and buy parts.  But once he got back, the he quickly got the job done.  It's been about six months and I haven't had another issue with the leak.  He left the area clean and worked quickly.  Can't ask for much more than that!

I planned to call and set up an appointment for some time in the next couple of days since it wasn't an emergency. He was able to come over that same day. I have a 2- tub kitchen sink in the basement and found out that one of the drains was leaking but not sure how or where. When he came over and checked it out he found out that it was right at the strainer level on one of the tub's. since he was going to have to replace it I asked if he could also replacing the other one. I figured if he is going to replace one why not both at the same time. He checked to see if he had the parts for both which he did and he then proceeded to replace both and then also replaced the pipe that connected the 2 tubs to the out flow drain (what ever it is called the thing with the bend were water drains out).
It was a great experience.

I've noticed  the leaking from the old drum trap below my bathtub for several months,  since the water and gunk would drip out of the bottom of the trap in the basement ( where all the pipes from the upstairs plumbing are exposed.)  Ugly and old  and dirty. (My house was built in the early 20th century, so the plumbing is not pretty.)   I knew the trap needed to be cleaned or replaced, but kept putting it off since putting a bucket under the leak seemed to be handling the water well enough.  I'd simply dump the bucket every other day or so.
But then a few weeks ago,  water began streaming out of an entirely different drainpipe in another part of the basement....this one was the pipe coming down into the basement from the kitchen sink on the first floor.  It looked like the drainpipe had old rusty cracks in it, and I was sure the whole thing was just going to fall into pieces the minute I touched it.  So I finally looked up a plumber.  Haven't needed a plumber in 18 years and had no idea who to call, so that's why I came to Angie's List.
ASP answered their phone immediately, set up an appointment quickly, showed up  promptly and fixed the problems in about an hour.  The young man was knowledgable and polite, and did NOT tell me I needed all the basement pipes to be replaced (which had been my greatest fear since my house is pretty old!)   He replaced the old cylinder trap beneath the tub, quick as lightening.  And then fixed the drain pipe coming from the kitchen sink by just cutting out and replacing the part of the pipe that had rusted through.
I know it doesn't seem like these were serious plumbing jobs, but I wasn't about to touch those projects myself.   Plumbing isn't my thing, so I just wanted someone to take care of the problems, fast and inexpensively.   Which is exactly what ASP Mechanical did.  I will have them back again when/if the old pipes down there really do need to be  entirely replaced.  And have already recommended them to all of my neighbors & friends.

The plumbing work was done in accordance with the estimate I received from ASP.  The finished work left me completely satisfied.  All the work done by Bill and Nolan was both on time and done in a very professional manor.  The amount I paid to ASP was exactly as estimated and substantially lower than the other estimated I received.  I'm currently getting an estimate from ASP for some additional plumbing needs.

It went great. Tthere was a plug in the trap from some almond bark from cooking. The almond bark wasnt poured in the drain it was some excess from the dish that came from the microwave. I though that I cleaned the bowl completely prior to putting it in the sink. When the plumber came he remove the trap which then he was able to get a quater size plug of almond bark that was solid and completely pluged the drain.
