Standafer Electric

I call Standafer Electric after finding them on Angie's List. A storm had caused a branch to fall on my power lines which pulled the house knob out of the house. I called him and he understandably couldn't come out the same day (Friday) but told me how much it should probably cost and not to pay more than that. I called a few other electricians and the only one that was available estimated it would be about double what Standafer quoted. So I called Standafer back and he was able to come out Monday to do the repair. Super quick, excellent service. I would hire him again and would recommend!

All went well. They were pretty booked up, so it took some time to get on their schedule, but they made time for us and all went well.

He found what was the problem and corrected it.

Jake Standafer was absolutely a pleasure to work with.  Although pretty booked he found time to come by on short notice and replace the GFCI circuit so I could use the new garbage disposal we had installed the day prior. Worked quickly and then wired the thermostats.  He was very courteous.  He even made some recommendations on some old wiring when replacing the circuit and let me know if what I needed to worry about and what I could deal with later down the road.  He took the time to explain everything and to answer all of my questions.

Overall service was terrific. He arrived a little late due to the prior job running long but called and let me know the story. The job wasn't very big but a little tricky. He took it to earnest and dug right in. The end result was great. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone needing a master electrician.

Earl from Tom Mertz Electric replaced a dining room fixture, assembled and replaced a ceiling fan on a vaulted (!) porch ceiling, and replaced three electrical outlets.  Earl was wonderful to work with--punctual, professional, pleasant, efficient and skilled.

Being the general contractor for several large home renovations over the past 3 years, I have worked with dozens
of highly rated Angie?s List contractors and I can honestly say that Jake is among our top 3 favorites.  He?s
competent, competitive, respectful, honest, ethical, and prompt.  We?ve worked with several other electricians in the past and I?m so glad we?ve now found Jake!  He did a great job installing for all of our needs, but what was more impressive was how he goes above and beyond to make sure we were happy.  When he came to give the bid, he helped move an old piece of electrical for free even though he wasn?t sure if we?d use him or not for the full project ? something that probably would have cost $100 from another provider. He upgraded a switch for us at no charge since it would be most useful that way, and then upon final install, he said he?d change the lightbulbs in several places free of charge since it required being high up on a ladder (I?m 7 months pregnant and didn?t want to deal with it!)  He ended up helping with more than we asked for and we insisted that we pay him more!  Also, in the past we?ve worked with other electricians that did a great job on the actual work, but were unprofessional in my home ? cursing in front of my child, not respecting my opinions, not taking shoes off on the carpets, not responding quickly, not showing up on time, etc.  Jake cares about his customers and their homes as well, something that is hugely important to us when choosing a provider.  He was the only contractor that was courteous enough to ask when my toddler?s nap was so he could make sure he was done with the noisy work!  Very impressed.  We will definitely be using him again in the future for our electrical needs, and will recommend him to all of our friends.
 
 
 

I was very happy with his work and will use Tom Mertz Electric in the future for any electrical needs.    I had received another quote that was twice the price and I am very glad that I checked with Jake!

I requested quotes from the top 3 rated electricians on Angie's List and went with Jake from owner operated Tom Mertz Electric.  I emailed each electrician the work I wanted to have completed and Jake from Tom Mertz was the only one to quote me based on the very specific work I requested.  I appreciated this as I had to do be home to have pricing agents from the other two companies come to my home to give me a quote.  The other two companies provided quotes but I thought their prices were a little steep for what was requested (one even offered a 10% discount several days after their original quote).  Jake completed the work in about a day and a half and also met with the inspector for us when the work was complete.  Jake is an amazing electrician, attentive, cares about doing a great job, and cares that you're happy with the work performed.   He even recommended a taper for us who also did great work.  We could not be happier with all the work Jake did, the price he charged us, and I'm just happy that I've found an honest, hard-working electrician that I can trust for years to come!

Jake did a great job troubleshooting our fixture problem and had it fully back online within an hour. He was very accomodating getting us on his schedule ASAP as our house was on the market and we needed to have a working fixture for showings. I'd give him our highest recommendation.

Very prompt. Careful while in the home. He appeared to know what he was doing as the installation took about 20 minutes. Very pleased.

They did great work. Would definaty recommend.

Though I'm sure he can't do this every day, Jake was able to get to my house within an hour to do this work, which was essential since the short knocked out power in the basement and living rooms and I'm staging my house for sale. He worked quickly and efficiently, locating the source of the very strange problem in no time. He was professional and did a fantastic job for a great price. I'd definitely use him again, and recommend him highly to others.

my kitchen lights suddenly went out and I was trying to get them repaired before the weekend. I suspected it might be as simple as a switch but wasn't confident of my skills to do the work. When I reached Jake he was at another job, but it was close to my location. he was very clear that he couldn't commit to solving my problem that day- but he would stop by after his current job and take care of it if it was simple and fast and not let him be late to his next appointment. He showed up a couple hours later and was in and out in less than an hour and my lights were back on! Just perfect!

Jake was excellent! Fixed upstair plug that was an issue for 10 years. He recommended a light package for our ceiling fan rather than a total replacement. GREAT!
