I am SO GLAD I took a chance. They are courteous,, prompt and professional. I expect to continue using them for snow removal and lawn care for a long time.
Thanks guys!!!
The first round of snow more than 2", I waited a day and no one came by. I called the number who called me to confirm I would receive service a couple times and he didn't respond. I called their dispatch service the following day and the operator called me back, then came by personally and apologized for the lack of service, and he said this is not how they usually operate. So my first plow was 3 days after we got around 4" of snow, but with a personal apology. So I appreciated that.
After that, in January, February, and most of March, service was pretty good. They would plow after each snow fall of more than 2", but I learned I could not count on them to plow before noon when we got snow overnight, which I didn't like. It meant either I had to shovel myself out (the point of having a plow service for me is that I have asthma attacks when I shovel, so it's not really an option for me), or I work from home. I counted 6 days this season that I worked from home when my driveway was not passable when I would normally leave for work.
I've called them a total of 3 times this season when my driveway was not plowed during the day following a large snow fall (basically couldn't leave the driveway). One time when I called it turned out they had a new operator and he plowed a neighbor's driveway by mistake. I think that was one of 2 times someone came very early in the morning and plowed, and it wasn't my driveway. They did call and aplogize for the mistake, and plowed a couple hours later.
The last 2 snowfalls at the end of March and April, they didn't come out to plow at all and I did not call them (we had over 8" of snow both times), because I was tired of calling to get plowed. In my mind, they are just supposed to plow and charge for service without my calling them. I shoveled myself and had a lot of health issues in the weeks after. Very frustrating.
The other con to their service is that they don't have a way to take payment over the phone, online, or by card. They send you paper bills, without a return envelope or payment stub, and you have to physically mail them a check. I would end up delaying payment by accident because it's not convenient for me to do this. I pay almost all my bills online, or with automatic withdrawal, and very rarely mail out checks.
I was planning to try them for mowing this spring, but I won't based on my plowing experience. Next year I will try a different plow service.
