Lilja's Stump Removal

I talked to them on Monday and stump was removed on Wednesday. Quick, professional job.

Derek responded immediately and provided a bid the same day. I called on a Tuesday and they came and did the work on Saturday! They went above and beyond the call of duty. After grinding the stump, they yanked out an excessive number of roots and made sure the area was smooth and prepped for landscape and grass seed. They also made sure to protect the area from flying debris! They were both great men to work with. Thanks for being the rare breed of contractor that does great work without over charging!!

After clearing overgrowth, we found our previous stump grinder service from years ago had left a lot of the stump. So we called Lilja's, and they were able to come within 2 days. They removed the remaining stump, set up shields to contain the flying dirt and dust as they worked, and took away the chips. Plus they were super nice and communicative in the process of setting up the appointment, arrival, etc.

Was vaguely promised "next week", later via e-mail as "by the end of the week" by the Tree company  While the first few weekdays after were nice, mid-week and later saw several thunderstorms.  On the Thursday of the week, I contacted the tree company, wondering about the schedule.  They was unaware that Lilja's had not yet done the job.  A return call informed us that Lilja's had stopped by, and decided the ground was too wet, so he elected to skip rather than potentially damage the lawn.  Odd that he neither talked to us, nor informed his contractor about not performing the work, or rescheduling!
The holiday weekend was also very rainy.  On Tuesday of the next week, I let the Tree Service know that we would be leaving the following Friday, and would be unable to remit payment until our return, if the weather allowed the stump work to be done before then.
Late that afternoon, Derrick Lilja stopped by, and did one tree in the front.  He said he could not get his machine through the gate, so we would have to take down a section of our cedar fencing.  We were then to call, and he would be right over.  I did so  very early the next morning, but he did not arrive until late afternoon.  Was promised that the cleanup would happen about 40 min. later by another person.  He arrived two hours later.  Cleanup was done using a large tractor, and consisted of scooping up most of the piles of chips.  Filling consisted of raking leftovers back into the holes.  While not enough for us to recall them, this left us with needing to re-rake, remove additional wheelbarrow loads, plus supplement dirt.  This was a vague part of the discussion about services with the tree company, without a clear understanding about what "cleanup and fill" meant.
Conversation with the Derrick after grinding revealed that he also had a slightly small machine that probably would have fit, eliminating the need for us to disassemble the fence, but that "he wasn't using it currently".  He noted a concrete step that would have been an issue - but if we had known, I would have loaned him the ramps I use just for getting around that!

This is the second time I have used Lilji Stump Removal. They were part of a package tree removal from Morgans Tree Service.They are competent, professional, friendly, and very reasonably priced. They have good equipment, were careful in it's use and cleaned up completely before leaving. Will defiantly use them again.

FANTASTIC !!!!  Our neighbors can't believe the job this company did in such a short time. Lilja's even had their neighbor who is a sod farmer cut the sod the day before they laid it in our yard - It looks like it has always been there.
Lilja's is a father son team who are meticulous in their work ethic.
I can't say enough about them - and I am one of those retire grumpy guys.....so my wife says.
