I felt taken advantage of on two instances at this clinic. In the first instance, Dr. Dejong recommended a tooth extraction for my Golden Retriever. Upon putting my dog under and taking X-Rays, they determined the extraction was not really necessary. They still charged me full price. In the second instance, I brought my cat in because I believed he was not feeling well. Dr. Dejong ran up the tests and procedures without explaining costs (Including xrays) in the end, the final diagnosis was "Gas" and I was stuck with a $400 bill.

I think we have only seen Dr. Jean and I think they are very nice and warm. They have nice customer service and they are very good with the animals.

When our dog was hit by a car, All Pets Animal Hospital was faxed the records from the overnight emergency vet clinic. The next day, they called just to check in on our pet to see if there was anything that we needed and just to hear about the incident. It was nice that they did just called instead of me having to remember to do that. They offered information and advice and gave us and quot;warning signalsand quot; that we should be on the look out for and when to bring her in if they started to show up. I appreciated that it was obvious that the person had read through the dog's file from the emergency vet and didn't ask any unnecessary questions and didn't pressure us to bring her to the vet unless something major happened. It is refreshing to work with people who care and show empathy rather than using scare tactics.

Jasper's eye was acting up again and it was time for their annual check-ups. We really liked the Lake Harriet Vet clinic, but it was nearly impossible to get from work on the South side of Minneapolis, pick up the dogs just outside of Northeast, and get back to the south side of the city again before the clinic closed. Angie's List rated All Pets clinic highly, so we switched.
I liked that we were able to get an appointment quickly. and waiting room time was minimal. The check-up was typical, and because we use them for hunting it was suggested that they include the lyme test when they tested for heart worm. I'm glad they did because both tested positive for lyme, and Jasper also showed anti-bodies for another tick born disease. I remembered them both being covered with deer ticks after one hunting trip even though we had used Frontline. The treatment was 30 days of strong oral antibiotics. We made appointments for them to go back in a month to get the Lyme immunizaton and a booster 3 weeks after that.
I liked that Dr. Jean was able to relate recent studies in the treatment of Lyme didease that suggested one treatment over another. She also alerted us to a deadly fungus that dogs were susceptible to that was in northern Minnesota.
Dr. Jean swabbed Jasper's ear because it looked infected and wanted to see if it was bacterial, yeast or a combination of both. It only showed yeast growth, so she suggested an ear wash that was specifically for yeast. After the initial infection was cleared up, we were told to use it 1-2 times per week since he tends to get infections in just that ear.
Now came the tricky part. Jasper is four years-old and since he was two, he's been getting a bare patch near the side of his eye, that gets scabby, itchy, etc. The other two clinics we've been to have done various tests to try to figure out what's causing it. Tests for mange, ringworm, etc. have always been negative. Every year it starts a little sooner in the year, gets bigger, lasts longer. Treatment that worked one year doesn't seem to work the next year. The vet thought it might be from seasonal allergies, since we had an early spring and it started really early this year. She prescribed steroid eye-drops and oral antihistamines. That seemed to work for a good part of the summer.
Note: Since the original appointment, the patch returned at the end of the summer. It's become a fluid filled lesion. We are in the process of waiting for the results of a culture for fungus, there were no cancer cells present, and two weeks of antibiotics didn't seem to help at all.
All Pets is trying to figure out what's going on--it doesn't appear to be a food allergy, which is the very first thing we addressed way back in the beginning. I think they are pretty reasonably priced , and they don't go way to the most expensive test/treatment right at the start, but try to eliminate simpler causes first.

My cat has been having trouble with recurring UTI's in his old age so I often need to bring him in with little or no notice. The staff is always very attentive, and very gentle with my cat. Dr. Pudwill had some excellent suggestions on how to handle some ongoing medical issues. My cat seemed to approve as well, after giving the exam room and doctor an exploratory sniff he settled down and began to purr.

I started going to see Dr. Pudwill and Dr. DeJong after I asked a friend where they went to the vet. Not only are their prices much less than I paid at my other vet. The service is extremely personable. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
