SWIMSAFE POOL COVERS

Rick took the motor for my automatic pool cover and never came back, never called. Disappeared to be gone forever. Now I had to get a new motor from a qualified business. Old motor still worked by the way.

Do not ever use this guy! Rick took a $2000 down payment from us last fall saying he was going to put in our liner and we were getting ahead of things by doing it in the fall and we were on his alleged list. After all the back-and-forth, one week before July he said he wasn’t going to be able to do the job. You get what you pay for, cheap is definitely not always your best option. Lesson learned!

I should've trusted my dog. He hated him. We ordered a pool liner from him in April 2019. I texted and called after the weather cleared up in May. He rarely responded and when he did say he was going to show up he didn't. Always had some sort of excuse like shipping or he received the wrong item. In the end the liner didn't get installed until mid August and it did not go well. The liner kept falling into the pool as water was added. He left the old liner laying in my grass after saying he would get rid of it. He never showed up to close the pool after weeks of asking. If you see Rick, run. The low prices he quotes is just not worth it. To make things worse, our liner is falling again and we need to find someone else to handle the warranty.

I said that I never wanted to see this guy again after the last cover he installed .   However it  turns  out he is the ONLY service provider for our swimsafe pool cover !  
He gave us a bid, we gave him a down payment and  he said  installation would  be a" couple weeks."  Called every few days for 3 weeks.  Still no pool cover.
Trying to reach the main office in Utah, It seems the domain name is for sale.
I never wanted to  see this guy's face again, so I am paying my  Maintenance Man ( top notch) to deal with him.  I warned him, and now he 's finding out why, I was so angry  the last go around with "RIck ".
A homeowners worst nightmare !

We first signed up with Rick in March 2012. Weather that particular Spring was very mild and Rick assured us that he'd start as soon as the snow melted and that the job would be completed no later than late May or the very early part of June. In the end, we did not get our cover installed until the end of August, which gave us about 2-3 weeks of use before we closed the pool for the season. Through the summer, there were countless calls to Rick about the installation, and at least 10+ dates that Rick committed he'd be out to get the job started. Each of those times my wife or I adjusted our schedule to be here when Rick arrived. Each was a no show.
When we first contracted with Rick, I thought that the price was too good to be true as he was significantly less money than other pool shops. When all was said and done, I still got a good price (and I believe a good product), but I'm not sure that the all headaches and frustration were worth the savings. Overall he's a nice guy, he's just unable to commit to his time promises.

***Update on 4/27/13***
I'm upgrading my scoring for SwimSafe. I recenly needed to contact Rick about some questions opening the pool cover this past spring, and was amazed at his responsivness. My calls were late on a Friday afternoon after business hours and I just left a voicemail expecting that I'd hear back from him the following Monday. He got back to me twice that same Friday afternoon and evening.

To be fair, I should also mention that before signing with Rick to do the job last year, I had contacted a number of references that he'd provided, and they were all very happy with his work. The review above is simply based on my own experiance.

I wish Angies List had a 'Maybe' option when they ask if I would use this company again. Now that I've worked with Rick and an established ralationship, I would consider doing business with him again.

Bad

Great. The cover looks fabulous. However, he did not show up on time. presumably because of weather; he did however try to make up for it by doing the entire install in one day (usually takes 2).

RICK IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. DIDN'T LIKE DRIVING FROM SHOREVIEW TO PRIOR LAKE. WAS NEVER ON TIME. DIDN'T DO THE WORK ON SCHEDULE. WENT WITH HIM BECAUSE HE OFFERED A PRICE THOUSANDS LESS THAN POOLSIDE WHICH PUT IN OUR POOL.
