Tonka Roofing

My project was tear off and install new roofs on my house and detached garage. Both are very steep. I contacted Tonka Roofing for a bid. The owner, Rich, contacted me to set up a time to meet. Great communication! Rich provided me with every option available and then a competitive bid on the roof system I chose. Rich has excellent technology and product. knowledge. I awarded Tonka the job. The job took several days to complete. The crew are trained at installing lifetime roofs using the best quality products. They are skilled craftsman. Most of the crew has been with Tonka for many, many years. They take the time to do quality work. After the job was complete, everything was cleaned up thoroughly. I highly recommend Tonka Roofing

Richard gets a special credit for working with the insurance company and being persistent. The work on the roof was well-organized and was completed in one day. The roof looks good. When the work was finished, the team went around the house with a magnet to pick up staples and nails. However, the magnet left many staples and nails scattered in the grass around the house.

It went well! Rick the owner, came out to look at our roof and give us a bid. We also had two or three other companies to also give us a bid. Rick was the only one who really understood how to do the job properly which included changing and adding new soffit vents which would improve the airflow in the attic. His crew has been with him many years so they knew what they were doing. And, Rick was on site at least once a day. He was always available when I had a concern or question. Our roof looks great, his crew did a great job, and I like the idea that this is a small company where he is in charge and only has one crew going at a time.

We trusted Tonka Roofing to reroof and soffit replacement while we were out of town. The result was an excellent job and the job site was cleaned up to perfection. We were also happy that they offered 50-year warranty of the fiberglass shingles. The aluminum soffit is perfectly installed and is a big improvement on our old wood soffit. They exceeded our expectations.

When hail hit my house in 2020 (in the middle of Covid) I had to find a roofing company that I could trust, had a few years experience, was licensed, and would be able to work with my insurance company. I was not looking for a large company since I've heard horror stories on a few of those companies that are only focused on growth. I was looking for a small to mid sized company that had an owner that was actively involved, and had a small crew and knew what they were doing. I am VERY HAPPY I found Tonka Roofing since they exceeded every expectation I had and did a great job! Tonka Roofing was easy to work with, answered my questions, dealt with my insurance company, and was able to start on time and finish on time and did great job cleaning up after. I am very happy with the work they did and would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them.

Tonka Roofing is a locally owned and operated business. Rich is the owner and not only does the quotes but is on site during the job. He brought information for the quote and took the time to explain everything about the gutter covers that had hail damage as well as the roof in a low pressure manner. We were selling my parent's house and when the buyer's inspector found evidence of hail damage, Rich helped work with the buyer for the deductible and the insurance company for coverage. He was willing to gather a crew to help me re-roof the second week of December in Bloomington, MN during a brief thaw after a snowstorm and very cold weather. This really helped bring closure for the buyers and me and was very caring of him!

Rich is great, very responsive, He is clearly an expert and wiling to talk through the process and all my questions, The roof went in on schedule despite weather complications.

Rich came out and gave me an estimate. By far he had more to offer that some of the other estimates I got. Tonka roofing has a great guarantee on roofing and work done (stand behind) there workmanship. Scheduled job and was done on time .

Tonka roofing was excellent to work with from the bidding process all the way through the work. Tonka roofing responded to my request for a bid very quickly. Rich took a look at my roof, made recommendations, and took the time to explain options regarding gutters, flashing, etc. He was very responsive to questions (of which I had many) throughout. The bid was competitive with others that I received. A couple of things that set Tonka apart were that they threw in the roof on a small shed at no additional cost, and did not propose to do unnecessary work (e.g. replacing gutters, redoing flashing that was in good shape, etc.). My roof was leaking, so I was very interested in getting it repaired quickly this spring. Tonka roofing was accommodating and scheduled the job very quickly after our initial consultation. Rich stopped by to discuss colors and products, and had very good insights regarding which product to choose. When the time came to do the work, the crew showed up on time, was very professional, and was very efficient. They got nearly the entire job done in one day, with just a few odds and ends on the second morning. They even repaired a ceramic potter of mine that had cracked last winter with some extra caulk! There is exactly one thing that wasn't perfect, which is that we found quite a few staples around the yard, particularly on our concrete patio. I expected to find a few, so this wasn't the end of the world. Overall the roof and skylights look great, and I believe that the work was done in a professional manner. I would absolutely recommend Tonka Roofing to anyone else looking for a new roof.

Absolutely Amazing! Rich and crew are the best. They got here at 7:00 and by 3:00 the roof was done. All the guys were so very nice and kind and polite and they did a great job. They took care of everything from moving things away from the house, covering the bushes, being careful to not throw things off the roof, to putting everything back so we did not know they were even here. It went well, Rich was easy to work with, texted me with requested info, showed up as scheduled, completed the work in one day, cleaned up with no issues. I received several proposals, Tonka Roofing was reasonably priced, and Rich knows his profession, so it was a good fit for me.

Rich and his team were absolutely outstanding throughout the entire process of having our roof replaced. We got multiple bids through Angie's List and he was the only one who took the time to sit down and go through every step and option and the benefits to each of the choices we made for the roof replacement. He was also excellent in working with us to get our Insurance Company the information they needed for the replacement. On the day of the job, his crew took extra time constantly to ensure the work was done flawlessly, and had someone constantly picking up every piece of material from the previous roof removal and when they were finished, cleaned the entire circumference of our house outside perfectly. I would recommend Rich and his crew from Tonka roofing for any job you would have that they offer. It is truly difficult to find companies that are trustworthy and take such pride and care in their job. Tonka Roofing is A+.

It went great from start to finish. Rich, the owner, is a down to earth, authentic, hard-working, and personable individual. He been in the business for 20 years and knows exactly what he's doing and talking about. He only takes a certain number of jobs a season, showing he is not greedy and is in it for quality work. We had been reimbursed through the previous owner's insurance so we were essentially paying cash. His quote was very reasonable and actually almost the exact amount we had received to replaced the roof (with the deductible already taken out) and he had no idea what we had been reimbursed. He was very easy to work with, reliable. He and his team did an excellent job. You would have never known they were here once they left except for having a brand new roof. He put in new skylights which no one else had instructed us to do that have given us quotes (it was good we did because plywood needed to replaced above and below each skylight. We needed a new roof installed this spring and had a great experience working with Rich and his crew. I first learned about them on NextDoor after two other roofing companies I contacted wouldn’t even get back to me with an estimate. Rich was highly recommended with words like “trustworthy,” “honest,” and “fair,” and he absolutely lived up to that and more. He got me an estimate right away, responded to any questions I had promptly, and our roof was installed on time and budget. After they were done, his crew did such a good job of cleaning up you wouldn’t even know they’d been there. While they were tearing off the old roof, one shingle accidentally sliced through a screen on our back porch. Rich fixed it for us when he arrived to do the final inspection. Great service from a great guy and company!

Met with Rich Martinson and he explained everything in complete detail and helped me to understand what was needed. Excellant communication and coordination of three different teams throughout the project. Each project team was prompt and very efficient, along with excellant work. Rich stopped by several times each day to check on everything. Appreciated the detail to all the flashing points on the roof! Clean up was great. The charges were as initially discussed and agreed to. Rich has great networking connections and appreciated the information for future projects. Very pleased with everything and Highly Recommend!

Tonka Roofing did a fantastic job on the partial siding replacement! They were extremely professional, and honest. The siding looks better than the original when the house was built. They started the job, and ended the job when they said they would, so there were no surprises. Very reliable. I would recommend Tonka Roofing to anyone!

After getting quotes from other roofing companies I knew after talking with Rich that Tonka Roofing was the company I was hiring to replace my roof. Rich’s knowledge of replacing a roof extended into the How’s and Why’s which he was able to explain to me in layman’s terms that I could understand. His quote was middle of the road compared to the other companies I talked with. Rich was able to help me choose the perfect color shingle to match the exterior color of our house. From beginning to end it was super easy and fast! We were presented a bunch of shingle options, Rich helped us find one that stood up to tree branch strikes as well economical enough for a large roof surface area. Rich was super responsive and the crew got it done crazy fast and cleaned up everything thoroughly. They even were able to work with the existing unusual exhaust we had in place from our wood stove.
