We wanted a rustic lake home kitchen and living room remodel & I met with several contractors before I had the pleasure of meeting with Rick Tollerud. These days one is lucky if a contractor even gets back to you but I could tell right away that we had the kind of rapport I look for in someone I want to do business with. He was extremely articulate, genuine, detail oriented and extremely responsive. He always made me feel like I was the only project he was managing though I knew he had many. Rick had a team of tradespeople that he trusted fully and they trusted him They were all very friendly, professional, on time and meticulously cleaned up after themselves every day. It was very soothing to hear these tradespeople volunteer their own positive comments about Rick while here about how they also valued Rick's organizational and communication skills. It's one thing to run a tight ship but another to be totally respected for it. Sure enough the remodel was done on time even through 2021-22 supply crisis times. I'm sure a lot of that was due to Rick's deliberate premeditated anticipation for exactly what would be needed and when. We worked together to come up with some really fun and unique upgrades. Rick worked to think through every move so it was done correctly and by code. Any issue I thought might have been a problem he worked to make sure it wasn't. No remodel is 100% perfect and there were a couple of minor little things that needed attention since the end date and Rick promptly responded and confidently let me know not to worry and it would be taken care of asap and sure enough it was. Our home turned out beautifully with meticulous attention to detail and high quality workmanship. We have more remodeling to do & when we are ready we will be having Rick back no question about it.

Everyone at Iron River is so personable and respectful and hardworking! They arrived on time every day, and cleaned up at the end of the day. The project manager, Randy, was the reason we picked Iron River. He was phenomenal, keeping us informed every step of the way, and even worked to get the price down to where we could afford to do our front porch, also. You can trust Randy, and Iron River to get the job done right! We also liked that it is a local, woman-owned business. Thank you, Randy and Iron River for a beautiful new deck!

If your looking for an unethical, dishonest, slow to respond, delay filled project that leaves your house in a mess and leaking water through the roof, you've found the contractor for the job! My roofing project was delayed until an early December blizzard hit and their workers damaged the existing fully functioning, non-leaking flashing around the stone turret of our house. Surprise! A couple of months later water is pouring down into our finished garage and mud room doing extensive damage to drywall, insulation, paint, etc. They came out numerous times to try and patch with the solution of using tube after tube of silicone to slap onto my stonework on the turret. The leaks slowed, but did not go away. Finally, when they received the $bid$ to replace the damaged flashing, they blamed me for picking out a shingle that was too thick and that my flashing was not up to code! Code or not, I never had a leak coming through these areas before. Had their workers not been slamming off the old shingles and underlayment in blizzard conditions and damaging the flashing that was working just fine for 18 years, there would be no leak. Instead, they attempted to file another insurance claim with my insurer to recover for their incompetence. Why wouldn't they file with their insurer if they caused the damage??? Fortunately my insurer denied the claim based on WORKMANSHIP! If you need to see how Tracy the owner operates her business, the following should give you a pretty good indication: The project's start was delayed for several months this fall until finally they could find a sub-contracted crew to do the job. The weather turned quickly after the start of the project and I asked the project manager and then the owner to stop the project until this coming Spring. The owned Tracy assured me that they could complete the project without issues and to "give me a call if the roof leaks"!!! Well Tracy, the roof leaks, I've given you calls and you want to bill me for the damage that your workers did to my home. 09/02/2018: Worst experience ever with hiring a contractor. Caused extensive damage to the interior of my home due to damaging flashing while replacing my roof in December, yes, December. Very unethical and dishonest company that cares very little about taking responsibilty for their mistakes. I would in the most strongly of terms warn you to STAY AWAY from this contractor. Lies and blames the customer for what was their responsibility. Filed addtional insurance claim with my insurer trying to get them to pay for THEIR screw ups and incompetence.
Response from Iron River Construction, LLC
"This homeowner is wrongly upset at us, when he should be mad at his insurance company. His insurance company has refused to pay for needed repairs to his roof. We, and everyone involved in this situation, have tried to explain this repeatedly for the last 8 months. We have had an engineer, a home inspector and the county building official inspect this property, meet with him onsite multiple times, and all have agreed and wrote extensive reports that there was no damage to the roof, masonry, or flashing caused by Iron River. Period. This is an issue of bringing his home up to 2018 code, which is necessary in any roofing or remodeling project."

Iron River has completed siding projects for two separate properties in my care. My organization provides supports to individuals with developmental disabilities so I needed a company who was flexible, timely when promised, and extremely professional. I got it all with Iron River! Melissa in the office is personable but very organized and timely. TJ met with me before both projects to discuss and plan the entire process. He did this without me having to re-arrange my schedule or leave my home. In addition, TJ and his crew were great with the individuals who we support in these homes. AND, the houses look fabulous!!!

Iron River did everything they said they were going to do, on time and on budget. They corrected any problems that came up in a timely and professional manner. Their work was high quality and has improved our home's curb appeal. The home is beautiful. We will have them back to side the remaining three sides of our home next summer! We highly recommend this company.

they were fast to respond, they explained the projected fully. They were able to do the jobwhen I needed, they showed up on time and finished as scheduled. They were neat, did not cause any damage to the landscaping and they cleaned up completely once done. Their followup with the guarantee was quick and professional. I will highly recommend this company to my family and friends.

Iron River was prompt and honest with their bid. They took the time to clearly explain their work plan and were flexible with their approach based upon my requests. We had one little glitch and Iron River responded and made it right quickly, with no questions asked. I want to particularly point out that the trim work following the roofing job was excellent. Paul was great to work with and Lance, the carpenter, was first rate in his work and his attitude.

Job was done well. Workers were friendly. Slight down fall was a small piece of siding fell off...glue did'nt set up in time. This problem was resolved the very next morning and was very happy. Also it would have been nice if Iron River paid the materials supplier quicker to avoid the client from recieving a 'pre-lien' notice on there house. (it would save some headaches) Overall satisfied with job and would recommend to others.
Response from Iron River Construction, LLC
"Pre-lien notices are sent out by suppliers for every job. There is nothing we can do to prevent them. It's unfortunate that bad contractors have made pre-liens necessary for everyone, but material suppliers have to protect themselves, too."

The wife and I were pleased with Paul's knowledge and responsiveness to our requests. Work was performed in a professional manner and completed the same day as it began. Roofing clean-up was great, have not found a roofing nail yet. The gutter replacement could have used someone from the roofing group to do a better job cleaning up nails and brackets. The gutter group also was requested to come back for cleaning off dirt patches on a freshly painted siding, and remove some hanging tape from the installed gutter. This is my first experience with an insurance claim on my home. If this would happen again, I would contact Iron River Construction first for a quote. Thank you, and Happy Holidays.

Salesman, Paul, did everything he could to get the job done properly. He was easy to work with and very interested in getting any problems solved and responded quickly. Owner, Tracy, was very amiable and checked out any problems, also. The roof I had done was finished in a day and it was a very good job. Some siding had to be replaced and the job is not finished yet, however, due to the weather. A water damaged ceiling (from last year) will be done at a later date.

My roof was complete in one day and it looks great. The only setback was a bathroom vent that needed to be installed but wasn't. As soon as they found out about the issue, it was taken care of.
