We choice Certified because some of the other mold places seemed to lean on fear tactics, and the Certified website had a lot of good factual information. We were so happy we did! Ben came out and did a thorough inspection. He even took the time to check the bathrooms, which wasn't on the original request. He was excellent at answering my questions and explaining what he was doing, and gave us a lot of great advice on handling the mold that was there and how to prevent mold in a few other high risk places. And he followed up with links and more information the next week when the final test results came in. We are recommending them to friends from now on.

He helped me determine what had already been done by our home's previous owner, and we put together a simple remediation plan that fixed my problem quickly. Mold can really scare some people (like myself), so it is priceless to have someone as awesome as Tom and his crew to assist with any testing/remediation needs you might have. As the reviews state, Tom talks to you about cleaning up mold on your own over the phone before he even offers to come out and take a look. He honestly just wants to help people!! I only joined Angie's List so I could share with other people what a positive experience this was. I had previously hired another person to do mold testing in my basement, but was doubtful about the report, especially when the OTHER report recommended clearly unnecessary remediation by their friends and partners. Tom was thorough, spending 5x the amount of time the previous inspector did and he clearly detailed a simple action plan. He is obviously an expert in his field, and offered low-cost alternatives that are superior to popular, high-buck products. He supported his approach with science and research, which was comforting to me. Save yourself some headache and call this guy FIRST.

I first contacted Tom to come see the problem. He came right out THAT day! We scheduled the mold remediation for a month out. He sent two guys who worked tirelessly for 11 hours. They showed up on time and worked hard until the job was completed. I would highly recommend this company. They are professional, reasonably priced and great employees! Thanks Tom, Frank and Mark! I had been dreading dealing with a basement mold problem, fearing it would be expensive and messy. It was neither. Tom was great to work with--responsive, helpful, and straightforward about what needed to be done--and what was unnecessary. Rather than scheduling the work all on one day, he suggested 2 half days, with an air scrubber set up for the intervening days. Frank, who did the work, cleaned all the surfaces and removed a few small areas of moldy sheetrock. It seemed to be a good method. I asked for a before and after air quality test, which they provided. The lab results showed total fungi were 14810/cubic meter before and 1867/cubic meter after remediation. On Tom's recommendation, I also scheduled a duct cleaning, which further reduced the fungi to 367/cubic meter. I am more than pleased with the results.

The inspection was done on September 18. Tom was friendly and professional. We received his report mold sampling, inspection, and recommendations, as well as a copy of the analytical lab findings on September 23. Tom didn't find any "bad" mold in our home, but did identify a couple of things that can be done to reduce indoor allergens that we will act upon. We are happy there is no "bad" mold to be remediated, but are still looking for the solutions to our respiratory issues! It was good to rule household mold out as a factor.

It took a very long time for my report to come back, after expressing my frustration I was offered a reduction in cost.

The gentlemen arrived exactly on time, and did the job perfectly. They "sanitized" the floor and areas that needed it, and painted some necessary areas requiring that. They removed all the debris and brought in an "air scrubber" to clear all the particles out of the air. They suggested what remedies could be done to avoid the issues in the future. We felt they did a very professional job.

He was very thorough. He checked the area for moisture and also along the outside wall of the room. There was only moisture in a small area in the corner that a table had been sitting on. He also checked a closet in an adjoining room and found moderate moisture in it. We had been having a slight musty smell off and on in our walk out family room since this spring. We have never had a damp basement before. He also checked that area. He found the carpet had significant moister in a roughly 12x15 foot area by the back door and also some along the exterior wall. He checked the drywall in the area and assured us that it was dry. He explained the problem appeared to be that over time our outside retaining walls had settled and were now draining towards our foundation instead of away. He brought us outside to show us areas that were needing to be regraded. Inside he felt that we were capable of fixing the problem without hiring more help. He gave us details on a product that can be applied to the concrete to seal it so water will not seep up from it any more. Outside he explained how to grade the retaining walls so water will flow away from our foundation.

Very good experience. I was impressed at Tom's level of knowledgeable about mold given the limited time he has been in this business. He is straightforward, explained things clearly and gave recommendations, some being repairs I could perform myself. I felt he was very honest and provides his services in the best interests of his customers. I was happy that our home got a clean bill of health.

Certified Mold Remediation did a very through and professional job. They were very thoughtful about controlling chemical smells to which we are sensitive. Our basement has stayed mold-free. I hope I never have another mold problem, but if I do, I will call Bob at Certified Mold Remediation.
