EXCEL ROOFING

Salesman Matt agreed to perform the work for a price outlined in a detailed quote - personal check which included initial insurance proceeds, agreed upon deductible & additional money for upgraded shingles , and then the balance of the insurance money, when received from State Farm at job end. Personal check written for the full amount given 2-3 weeks prior to start of work. Matt was personally handed the check and accepted it as full payment from homeowner. Contract for the cost of the work was handled between State Farm and Excel. As soon as the work was completed, the proceeds of the insurance check were signed over to Excel(received within three weeks). All money owed Excel, per the quote and contract, was paid promptly and in full. Soon after roof installation... leak found in garage - not fixed because per Excel "sometimes it rains before the roof actually settles" (we will need to have another roofer repair), many shingles on roof not flush - told by Excel that sometimes "they don't always sit flat" (Note: 3 neighbors' roofs done by different contractors do not have similar problem) Three weeks after the job was completed, we received a bill for insurance money that had been paid in first check - spoke to Shawn with no resolution, - he was going to investigate the "internal misunderstanding" with salesman Matt. One and a half weeks later, after no additional communication, we received a certified letter in which Excel threatened legal action if this disputed amount was not paid. Insurance company reviewed the billing and notified us that Excel had manipulated the contract to its advantage - at the expense of both us and the insurance company. NOTE: State Farm recommended this firm and has apologized to us and removed Excel from their approved company list. As well, they are making efforts to notify their independent adjusters of the concerns. Please avoid our very costly and unpleasant experience and select another roofer!

It went very well. Very good customer service. If I had any questions, they were always available when I called. My house looks as good as new.
