The secondary heat exchanger was cracked and would have to be replaced (the part was under warranty not labor). That would leave us with a repaired 10 year old furnace. The route we took was a new furnace same brand as the old one (Amana high efficiency). We are pleased.

They are very good. It is expensive, but convenient. Several years ago on Halloween night, I came home from work and the house was really cold. I called them and they sent someone that same night. They got it working, but by the next morning it was not working again. They sent someone out again and found a crack. They brought five electric heaters for me to use for free. We had not even bought anything from them at that time. We ended up buying the new furnace from them. It was after 5 pm when he called and he came out with the heaters that same night. I'll pay for service, so we have used this company for a long, long time.
