Klause came out and estimated his price and said it would take him about a week to complete. I think he overstated his experience in building decks. He assured us he could build the risers which turned out to be too large a step down on one side of the deck. He started laying the cedar planks from the middle of the deck which ended with a huge awkward space between the deck and the house. All the spacing was uniform. It took him twice as long to finish as he estimated and in the end hurried to finish leaving me with sloppy work (overlapping boards instead of cutting them to fit together) on finishing the front face of the deck. In the end it took my husband most of the next summer to take off and respace every board on the deck! Klaus if a very nice and honest man but this job was over his head. Base on this experience I would not choose to work with him again.
