This goes back a while. Our mantel clock wouldn’t work. I contact Mr. Carroll and brought it in. He said it needed 11 knew bushings. I paid and pick up the clock several weeks later. Stopped working after a few days. I brought it back twice and same result. On the third time he just kept it, never called and when I picked it up after about a month (and no apology) and no surprise, it wouldn’t keep working. Lousy experience!

The Grandfather clock in question was a 25th wedding anniversary gift between my folks. My mother died recently and my father relocated into my home binging the clock with him. Something went quirky in the move and it wasn't running. I called Carroll's clocks, he came on short notice cleaned, properly set the clock up and got it running in time for what would have been my parent's 57th wedding anniversary tomorrow. That alone was worth everything but his reasonable fee's and great customer service has earned him a lifetime of business from this family.

Scott, the owner of the business, arrived on time and got to work right away. He explained what he was doing when I inquired. The oil and adjustment took between 30 and 60 minutes and was done in my home, which was convenient for me.

The clock was originally dropped off at the end of November 2004. No call with an estimate was received. I called every few weeks, and was told they were getting to my clock. Finally I got a call at the end of Feb. 2005 that the clock was ready. I went to pick it up - the charge was $150 for replacing the main spring, clean oil and adjust. The clock did not show any evidence of work. When I got it home, there was no change to it's time keeping accuracy. I called and complained, speaking to a different representative than I has spoken to in the past. He told me to bring it back in, there would be no charge to make it right. I took the clock back in March. I picked the clock up a week or two later (no charge). It still failed to keep correct time. I've not pursued this further with this company. The clock sits unwound in our living area. Complicating communications is a local jewelry store is the drop off/intermediary - you never meet the Carroll's Clock rep.
