BLACKSTONE HARDSCAPE INC.

About us

For more than 20 years, Blackstone has been transforming outdoor spaces in the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro area. We have established relationships with clients and vendors that span most of that time frame - a handful of those relationships go back to day one. We place a high value on those long-term relationships and continuously look forward to earning the trust and developing relationships with new clients. Our core discipline has always been hardscape construction. We have successfully completed countless residential paver driveways, paver patios, and pool decks. We have also installed more than 100,000 square feet of pavers in commercial spaces using both permeable pavers and conventional interlocking pavers. In addition to our experience in hardscape construction, we have the resources and the experience to successfully plan and execute more complex landscape projects. When there are several trades involved, many of our clients request that we coordinate and directly oversee every aspect of their landscape project to ensure the timely completion of their project and a positive experience along the way. If you have a project in mind, please reach out to us today to get things started!

Blackstone subcontracted through Bachman's. We had Bachman's do a complete relandscaping of our house. I don't remember the portion of the landscape cost that was allocated to hardscaping so don't pay attention to the cost I put for this review.
Nate and the crew from Blackstone were great in every way. Very professional. My wife and I are pretty picky and they listened to every request that we had while doing the work. The work was top notch. The boulder walls really showed experience and some artistic touch - a wall can look pretty crappy if the right rocks are not selected to go next to each other - don't want it too uniform but it needs to fit together. We love our walls.
The front walkway and the other areas where they installed pavers look awesome.
The bullet edgers that go all the way around the house also look great.
The work was done in 2009. In Oct 2012 I noticed that a row of the walkway pavers just below the front step had sunk an inch or two. I sent an email to Blackstone and they responded immediately and sent someone else out to fix at no cost (I wasn't actually sure what the warranty period was). While they were there they also adjusted the height along the driveway so that those pavers matched up exactly (it might have been the driveway that heaved and not the pavers that sunk but they fixed it).
Highly recommend and I'll use them again for any future work.

They were great. They did a good job. It looks good and their product was good. They did exactly what the architect had designed. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

He did a perfect job on something that was rather tricky. We had some irrigation people mess this portion of the walkway up and Blackstone came right now and corrected the issue.

Blackstone, at this moment anyway, consists of Nate, the owner, and his crew. For our job it was a crew of 3 so 4 people total. Blackstone was subcontracted through Bachman's who we used to do the design and general contract the project (the Bachman's designer we used was Daryl Melquist who I also highly recommend and will do so when I finish this report). We are extremely pleased with the work that Blackstone did and were very glad that Daryl contracted them. We may, finances allowing, use Blackstone some driveway work next year. It was clear from their first arrival on-site that they were extremely professional and courteous. Each member of the crew addressed us courteously and throughout the project took time to explain things or listen to our concerns or suggestions. They maintained a well organized work environment and cleaned up the work site each day. No music, swearing, etc. They arrived each day between 7:00 and 7:30 (made me felt guilty because I would be up to get to my own job) and stayed generally until 5:00. They definitely know there landscaping and in particular their hardscaping. The paver work looks awesome with very nice stone cuts, etc. The boulder walls also look amazing with an artists touch on the placement of the boulders to give them a natural look. They put in bull nose stone edging around the flower beds and that looks great. They also did the plantings of the vegetation, which I was surprised of. I think it was easier to have them do it than bring in another contractor and they said they liked the break from the heavy stone work. I was unsure about it but the plants all look properly placed and planted. They were responsive to our concerns. There was a place where there was spacing between the edging stones in order to have the stones make it to the end without having to cut a small piece of stone. I asked them to tighten that up so that grass would not grow between the edging stones. They were very responsive and fixed it by altering the course a little to make it shorter thereby tightening the spacing. They also changed the location of a couple of plants to make them line up better. Both things that perhaps should have been caught in the first place but the most important thing is that they do what it takes to make the homeowner happy.

They did a great job. Nate's bid was right, and they got the job done on time. They were very responsible. We had some problems with the stone they used, and it was his supplier's fault. But he came and redid everything and didn't charge us at all for the labor.

They started when they said they would, and the job took as long as they planned. Blackstone has a policy of not leaving a job until it's finished. There was a glitch when the material for the channel drain was unavailable, but Nate called me every day to tell me what was going on. They prepared the surface and did everything they could without the drain channel. Once the drain channel came into the supplier, the crew returned to our house and finished the job with no other delay.
