Seal King

I believe it went fine. ?I've used them for many years.

The job was done, however the crack filling substance was not cured before the sealcoat was applied over the top and it crack filler remained soft and after the 4-5 day of waiting, we drove on the driveway only to have the seal coat lift right off the driveway and stuck to the tires of the truck.

I'm writing this review over a year after initial service as I tried multiple attempts and avenues to bring resolution to the issues with the service received, and it has yet to be resolved a year and half later. I'm writing this review now to warn others of my experience with Seal King. The bottom line is this...Seal King knows people won't get an attorney over $219 so will continue to provide low quality services and refuse a refund because there isn't anything the consumer can do. Below is my experience....

Seal King was hired on 9/19/13 to sealcoat my driveway and my neighbors. The following day a storm came through and washed the sealant away and stained the garage doors and brick on both our houses. Seal King did step up and clean the brick and garage doors, then came out to reseal the driveways in October 2013. When the snow melted in April 2014 I noticed the sealant on my driveway had washed away over the winter, the cracks weren't sealed properly and grass was growing through a section of the driveway, but my neighbor's driveway looked okay. I contacted Seal King on 5/7/14 and was told the failure was due to the harsh winter and they'd call back to schedule an appt to seal the driveway a third time. I didn't get a call so called again on 5/20 and was told I was on the calendar for that week. I called on 5/29 because no one showed up the previous week. The owner said he did stop by to look at the driveway that week, which I don't believe given I asked him to set up an appt so we could discuss next steps. Based on this I asked for a full refund of $219. He said Seal King doesn't give refunds and they'd be out to redo the driveway a 3rd time. Over the next two months I tried to reschedule and they wouldn't set a date or when they did they would cancel. I asked for a refund again because I was getting the run-around and they refused.

In July/Aug 2014 I contacted the BBB to report Seal King. I received a response from the Seal King CEO that they do not provide refunds and they'll reschedule. They called to reschedule for a day with storms forecasted. I responded that is not acceptable and at this point only a refund is desired given the poor quality of product and lack of professionalism. They declined to respond so I filed a complaint in Aug with the MN Attorney's Consumer Assistance Office and they sent a letter, which Seal King ignored. The letter was sent again and it was also ignored. It's now April 2015 and I'll be reaching out to someone else to do the driveway. Given Seal King couldn't get it right two times I don't think they are qualified to do it a third. So be warned...Seal King knows people won't get an attorney over $219 so will continue to provide low quality services and refuse a refund because there isn't anything the consumer can do.

I called to have the driveway sealcoated.  They were able to do the work the following day.  They do a great job prepping the job--edging the lawn and filling cracks.  Their prices are very competitive and the driveway looks great!

They were poor on the response time. Ones I did get the response from them. They missed their appointment and never showed up. They informed they would be back the next day and again never showed up. They rescheduled it for the next week and then they made it. I called the president of the company and asked him why a customer should call to give him the business. He explained it thoroughly to me over phone. There was some miscommunication between his team in the field and the scheduling people. He told me that it was not the way to do business. When they came out to do the work they went above and beyond. They gave me basically half the price. They gave me extremely big discount. They did extra work that was above and beyond the original bid at no extra charge. They basically resealed my driveway, filled tracks and they did a bunch of stuff. They were real professional and polite onsite. The owner’s nephew was the project manager onsite. I referred them to my neighbor the same day. The price was phenomenal. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Everything was great. When I called, it went to an answering service, and they called me back within five minutes. I then got his cell phone number, which he answered each time. It was nice being able to get ahold of him promptly. He came out right away and he was able to do the work the following week. We used them three years ago and were happy with the results. They cleared the driveway of all debris very thoroughly before sealcoating. Terry, the owner, is on site, which we appreciated. He is meticulous about the edges and keeping the tar from touching the apron and brick edging. They gave us a discount for being repeat customers, which made it very affordable even with the rising asphalt prices over the past few years. We were very happy with their work.

Did an excellent job. Returned initial call the same day. Gave quote over the phone (Had same job done 3 yrs prior for $250.) Scheduled work in in 5 days. Called and actually did the job two days earlier. Total experience was excellent.

I wasn't here when they did the job, but it went fine. I've used them for this type of work before. It is hard to pin them down because they don't give a set time, but they will tell you what day. They are professional and friendly.

The process was completed as stated above. We have had this company out one or two other times, and they are careful not to get tar on the cement or grass. They lack in professionalism, but they do a good job on the driveway. Payment is due upon completion of the project. I thought I could mail in my payment since under the Payment box it was hand written "Any Day". However, the owner of the company stated that meant they could come to my home "any day". I stated he might want to consider rewriting that, since it was misleading, and that they also have a portion at the bottom of the bill with billing information that says "Return this portion to....". I think I annoyed him with my suggestions. But I wrote him the check and the driveway looks fine. No complaints on the work, just the roughness of the people skills.

I got an immediate call back and the work was schedule for the following day.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, EVEN COMPLETED THE WORK THE DAY AFTER I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE! DRIVEWAY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AND I'LL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.

RESPONDED QUICKLY WITH A QUOTE, PROMISED TO DO THE WORK THE NEXT DAY OR THE DAY AFTER, DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. THEY SHOWED UP AS EXPECTED. THE DRIVEWAY HAD A LOT OF CRACKS, SO THEY HAD TO CHARGE EXTRA FOR THE CRACK SEALING, WHICH CANCELED THE COUPON VALUE, BUT THEY DID A GREAT JOB THAT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

GREAT. QUICK TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. VERY GOOD WORK.

ITS A BIG DRIVEWAY, 1600 SQUARE FEET. I THOUGHT THEY OFFERED A GOOD PRICE AND THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. THEY WERE VERY PROMPT, THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE JOB DONE WITHIN 5 DAYS OF MY INITIAL CALL. THE GUY I TALKED WITH ON THE PHONE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND THE EXPERIENCE WENT VERY WELL.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB! FAST, TIDY, AND STEVE WAS VERY FRIENDLY. I RECOMMEND STRONGLY.
