He tried to fix the outlets but could not. End of story
Description of Work: The Gentleman that came out was really nice but unfortunately he was not able to fix my outlets. I called because I had two outlets in my downstairs office that were not working. He tried very hard but could not figure out the problem.

I refused to pay him the $100, and I called someone else that I could trust. If I were to use Sparky Electric, who knows what else he would have charged me? I couldn't trust him.
Description of Work: I purchased a Deal for $99 for 2 hours of licensed electrical work. I called him regarding one job. When he came, there was something else that came up. A light in the living room went off, and he agreed to look at it at the same time and fix it on the spot for me. He thought there was some connection loose. We negotiated the work I wanted him to do. He wanted to charge the trip fee. Eventually he charged only the $99 coupon. After he left, he called me back, and he asked for an additional $100 for the materials. I was surprised and asked what material. He said electrical box. I've had multiple contractors work for me, so I'm aware of what the prices are. I offered to pick up the materials for him because I knew the materials were only about $2 or $3. He was mad and insisted that I pay him the $100 or he wouldn't finish the job.

- Arrived exactly on time - Took way too long - Should have just replaced the fan from the beginning instead of just trying to replace the old motor with a motor from a new fan. I realize he didn't want to pull the other one out, but that why I hired him. I didn't want to pull the old one out either. - He kept dropping his tools off the ladder on my new hardwood floor. I had the floor covered with brown paper to keep off the dust, but you left dents all over the floor when I pulled up the paper. I should probably get my $100 back. - When he said he was done, I went and looked and the metal housing of the fan wasn't even level with the ceiling. If I wouldn't have said anything, he would have left it. Then he decided to fix it. - Left trash and the old fan on the floor. Update: I did call him back about the hardwood floor dents and asked for my money back. He did send me a check back for the $100.

It went well, we tried a few different things but ended up with a working light!
Description of Work: Tim was good. I bought a big deal coupon through Angie's List and he worked around his and my schedule to fit me in. He helped me find the right connection for a wire I disconnected and got my kitchen light working again. We even looked at some options for rewiring the light altogether but ultimately hooked the light back up. Tim was good to work with. I would hire him again.

Overall, I would say that I am very pleased with him and would use him again. I was a bit disappointed the first time I scheduled and he did not come as scheduled, however, he promptly set up a new time and came as scheduled. He was professional and offered a great deal of information and did not mind answering questions about my concerns. I would definitely use him again, and plan to call him in the near future to set up another appointment. The one thing that I would advise is to have your own replacement switches or receptacles on hand. Those parts are pricey. I must say that the $99 + $59 was worth it. So yes, I would use him again. He is very knowledgeable, professional, reasonably priced and will get the job done.
Description of Work: I originally scheduled Tim from Sparky Electric to come to my home on 9/24/12 however something came up on the day of the appointment and he requested that I reschedule with him. I did and we agreed that he should come on 10/5/12. He arrived approximately 15 minutes late, but at least he did come this time. He checked a light switch in one of our bedrooms and determined it was bad and switched it out with one of the new dimmer switches that I had on hand. He next checked a switch in the bathroom and told me that it would be very involved to switch it because the switch was wired to the previous sconce that existed there prior to our purchasing the house. I decided to skip that one. Next I asked him to change out the receptacles that were two prong to three prong. He had the receptacles with him in his truck and the new switch plates. He charged me ($59) for the additional parts and tax. He also checked a light switch that had not worked in years in our attic. Somehow for him it began to work again.

Using Angie's List Coupon purchased two hours of time. Tim got all of the projects I wanted done in the two hour time frame. Oddly enough the power went out during installation and he rescued our dinner by turning the crock pot back on for us. A good electrician and dinner hero. Would use again for any electrical needs. Arrived on time, finished in a reasonable about of time. No problems at all. Jim was very accommodating.
Description of Work: Jim installed an outdoor photo sensor light, replaced a closet light, and replaced a shower bulb (I couldn't loosen the screws holding the fixture in). He also checked a stove fan motor for overheating.

He was very prompt, called before arriving. He promptly installed the closet lights. The bedroom ceiling light was not working, but the fan did. He needed parts for the light and my son-in-law went to purchase what he needed. When he put them back together the light worked but the fan didn't. If I had not had a friend there to point this out he would have left. He had forgot to wire the fan back in, which he did. He then installed a ceiling light, he did a good job with the light. I do wish he would have told me how long it was going to take to fix the ceiling light as it may have been cheaper for me to just buy a new one and have him install it as the total cost was $125 more than the coupon.

she asked me to install a ceiling fan where a box was blanked off and I believe I gave her a good deal on the amount of work that was done in her home as it would have been a lot more money from any other contractor for that amount of work that was done and i did repair the fan/light in the bedroom for her so she should have been satisfied with the work.

Was on time and was responsive, out side of that it was terrible. He wanted to leave early and the job was not done. He said the two hours on the Angie'sList deal included drive time, which was not stated on the AngiesList deal. He did not follow directions and he could not figure out how to take the back of the thermostat off. He said the upcharge on supplies was 15% and I am certain I paid significantly more than 15%. I would not hire him again

customer was rude and did not mention the low voltage work when i called to get the scope of work to be done. She expected way too much and called me BUDDY all the time. It is the responsability of the installers of the heater to run the low voltage wiring and do the thermostat. Wake Up and smell the coffee! no vendor is going to drive for free!

Nothing was fixed and wasted my time. In addition I had to call someone else to get it fixed.
Description of Work: I had a switch that was broken for a bathroom light. I purchased a new one and asked the vendor to replace it. He replaced it but it did not work. He claimed there was a short in the wall and he could not fix it. I asked him to fix an outside light. After tinkering around with it he said it could not be fixed. I called another vendor and was told the bathroom switch was not rewired properly and it was fixed in 5 minutes. The outside light was replaced and working after another 5 minutes. I paid the Sparky representative $50. and asked him to leave. I paid the new vendor $50. and he fixed both items.

I find it very hard to believe this person as he had wired a receptacle to the light switch already and had tried to fix the switch himself and the outside light was no good as I told him so it needed replacing like i told him. I find it hard to believe this man about anything to do with wiring on his properties.

I called to make an appointment to have him look at the items that I needed repaired/replaced. When he arrived, he repaired the light switch. He then took down the old light fixture by the front door, when the new one was installed, I couldn't open the screen door. So he took down the new one. He then left and searched to the correct size of light fixture. He as very helpful in recommending stores or company's that may have the correct size. After about a week of searching he called me stating that the best plan would be to refurbish the old one, since the size was difficult to find. The day he called me to tell me that, I had just told my daughter the same thing: to sand, paint the old one and put it back up. I guess great minds think alike! I would use this company if I had more electrical needs.
Description of Work: Repaired light switch and installed a new outside entry light fixture. The light fixture I purchased as too large, so he helped me search to find one that was the appropriate size. He was very helpful in trying to locate one that was the correct size.

Customer services is aweful. Had the guy do the project on monday. He left a message to email what I needed done and I really didn't understand the guy over the phone. He was not clear on his email address. "sparkyelectric sparky53@aol.com" Really didn't know email so I tried both. Apparently he did not get the email so he wasn't sure what to do. He called on Monday night to let me know the price and the address. Called again on Tues. I let him know that I would send out the payemnt. I proceed to send out a check on Wed. through bill pay which takes a few days and I get harrassed on Fri that he thinks that I am dodging the payment. After all this I still do not have an invoice for the job that was done. I don't mind that I don't have an invoice yet but don't hassle me for payment when I don't even have an invoice. To be honest he probably wansn't very clear on what was needed to be done but he still obviously didn't check all the plugs because I had my inspection and still had an outlet that was hot nuetral reverse. So now I will probably get a bunch more calls because he hasn't got payment. So Tim the check is on it's way. Mail takes a few days so be patient. Just an update on the above. I recieved my invoice on Sept 22. He was also kind enough to write a nice note with the invoice. The note pretty much stated how I was not easy to work with and at the end of the note he wrote that I was "Pathetic" and underlined it.
Description of Work: Had to switch 4 outlets from hot nuetral reverse and put a face plate on an outlet.

The member did not answer his phone and was unclear on the problems at the house and how more clear can it be when i give you my e-mail than spelling it out for you. i guess it is too difficult to give me a list or repairs for a job and then wait to pay for the work. is it too difficult to answer your phone or return a phone call? You are the incompetenty one here not me, How difficult is it to give details for a electrical repair I guess too difficult for the member to handle

The job was done in a timely fashion and I hired the service again.
Description of Work: I contacted Sparky Electric to solve an electrical problem, was inspired to do so using the Big Deal. Hard wiring of a smoke detector to a wall switch, made no sense to me. Problem was solved in very timely fashion and moved onto other issues, including installation of lighting in basement.

Prompt arrival. Understood the scope of the project and completed the work in a timely fashion. After installing the dishwasher outlet, we realized it was too high and the dishwasher could not be made flush. The job was redone by lowering the outlet an additional 4 inches, I filled the resulting hole myself. The hood installation went well, I assisted with fishing wire, although the outlet was crooked, I patched the area and reset the outlet. That said, the work was done and the pricing was commensurate with the completed work. I would hire him again for work in which cosmetics are not paramount.
Description of Work: Install an additional outlet in kitchen for dishwasher, directly below an existing outlet. Install power for hood fan directly above an existing outlet.

He was to install a ceiling fan and two light fixtures. This person was not competent, did not do the job more than 25%, kept delaying appointment. He did one of the three fixtures and even the one he did, was a crappy job. He should not be allowed to work on Angie's list. I have not used Angie's List since for this reason.

He came out the day after I purchased the deal. He was great. He made a follow-up phone call after the appointment offering to come out if I determined that either outside outlet was not working. He was perfectly willing to come back out & fix it if it needed to be fixed. I appreciated that.

I contacted this company in response to an offer on Angie's list.The company agreed to do the work within a week of our calling them, but due to illness on the part of the contractor the work was delayed several weeks. When the contractor came by he did just fine.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for Sparky Electric; the deal was $99 for two hours of electrical work. Then came problem number one: The owner starting calling me regularly to ask what work we wanted done, even though the deal didn't expire until next year. At one point he called three times on a Sunday, during my birthday party. I finally called back because I am eight months pregnant and did not want to continue fielding calls for the next six months. When I called the owner, he was responsive and we agreed he would install a light switch in our hallway and give us an estimate on a much bigger, future project, which was replacing our outdated electrical fuses with a new panel/circuit box. We scheduled the work for the next week. I was not able to be home during the appointment but my husband was. According to him, Tim arrived on time. That was the best thing he could say about the work. We experienced the following problems:1) On two separate occasions my husband offered to remove a fuse to prevent blowing it. Both times Tim refused and both times he blew a fuse. To be fair, he ran out later to purchase us two new fuses.2) In an effort to get the work done quickly, he didn't measure properly and mistakenly drilled 5 sizable holes in the wrong walls and ceiling, thus creating hours of work my husband has to do. Four of these holes are in our newly painted nursery, and one of those holes is almost 4 inches in diameter. 3) Finally, he didn't properly connect the switch, so later in the day, my husband used the new switch and the light began flickering. It could have started a fire in our wall! Tim came back and fixed it later that day (again, very responsive). He did give us a very good price quote for the additional electrical work, but there is no way we are allowing this man or anyone associated with his company to do any work near our house.

I find it hard to believe that a simple phone call to try to do a project for you should have been a big deal and as far as the holes in the celing are concerned your husband wasn't very upset and he had them patched by the time I came back to check the wiring on the switch which was only 2 hours after completing itaand I did apologize and his comment was it is no big deal. not every job goes perfect so good luck in the future and I am not worried about doing any more work for you in the future

Tim arrived on time and did a very good job spending way more than the two hours i paid for, when my electric went out on the whole block, waiting for it to come back on, he offered to come back for a minimal charge to finish when the power came back. Tim crawled thru my attic (ten inches recently blown in) to track down a wiring problem in my 1880's house. He also contacted me several times after to see if I had need of more help.
Description of Work: I hired Tim to fix an outlet that went out. He showed up and replaced the wiring, runnning new romex from breaker to the wall outlet
