It was done fast and a lot of problems were sidestepped. See above. Obviously very experienced.
Description of Work: put in a new outlet for a microwave. It was tricky because it required a new dedicated electrical line. Very creative finding a line that was free in the furnace room. Nice man. Also, he carefully located the outlet so that it would be hidden by the microwave but would not impinge on the contour of the back of the microwave. He needed a special non-standard narrow outlet cover for the install and put in an old dirty one, which bothered me, even though I realise he was forced to improvise. Also, this was the rare situation where we could see the BACK of the outlet, and the new cut opening looked pretty rough to me, which disappointed me. Normally, of course, the back of an outlet would be invisible. It looked fine from the front. I might be too picky. He was a very nice guy.

Tim Wilhelm, Sparky Electric master electrician, was pleasant, efficient and did good work. I was very satisfied.
Description of Work: This was a Best Buy for one hour of Electrical. Tim Wilhelm was great about scheduling around when I could get the bathroom fan motor ordered. As soon as it came in, we were able to set up a time for Tim to come in. Our bathroom fan had stopped working, and Tim got in and got the job done quickly and well.

I purchased an Angie's list deal through Sparky Electric. The website warned that this was a popular deal, but I had no idea that it would take months to get the electrician out here. Once here, he did a great job installing the lights.

When I called him first it was little difficult to schedule with him. He arrived little late, but that was not a big deal. He seemed to me slow and clumsy while working. He didn't have all his tools and parts with him, so he did replace the switches and outlets with not matching ones. I may end up redoing most the work he had done. When I asked his certification ,he was not able to provide. He said the certification is in the other vehicle. Also, when he was not able to put a new fixture I wanted him to put in, he said his tools are in the other vehicle for that kind of jobs. He charged me for his travel time, which he didn't indicate when we were scheduling for the service. Also, he wanted to charge me for the time that he was late. At the end he offered me to finish the rest of the job for a much better deal, and he would not charge me travel time. I told him I needed think about it. I called him back to schedule to finish the rest of the work with the deal he offered me. However,I have not heard from him back. I thought it was very rude of him to even not call me back on a deal that he offered me.
Description of Work: He did replace a porch light fixture, a switch, and two outlets. He was not able to put in another light fixture and an outlet.

this guy was impossible-he didn't even talk to me it was all done through a third party I had to work out of my wife's vehicle as my work van broke down by the way i did replace the light fixture and the bad switch in the garage and 2 outside outlets so i am not sure what was slow and clumsy comment is from but i would not ever work for this person again anyway as he obviously does not recognize hard work and professional work

Watch out for this guy. He seemed more concerned with getting paid then doing a quality job. I bought the coupon for $99.00. He did contact me and we set an appointment, which he canceled, and we had to reschedule, as he didn't do venting, and the heating and airconditioning guy couldn't make the first appointment. He did show up on time for the second appointment as well as the venting person. No problem with that part. The work requested consisted of installing a ceiling ventilation fan system in our bathroom, as well as a another out let and cable access in our kitchen, so I could add a TV. When he was done with the vent, I went to see the end result. Everything worked, except he butchered the wainscot and installed the wrong color outlet. After the bathroom vent, we went on to the kitchen work. Before starting, I told him to cut the sheetrock where he needed to run the wires, so that I could put it back in place where he was going to run the wires. He did not do that, instead he pulled it apart in chunks, and it was real mess. Also, when he tried to drill a hole up into the wall to run the wires, he missed completely and drilled through the kitchen floor. After two tries, we decided to forget it. Now, every time a look at the hole in the floor, and the mess he made of my sheetrock, I get angry. I wish this thing would allow one to upload pictures and you could see for your self. When it came time to pay him, I did not get an itemized list for the cost of parts and labor ( btw, I bought the vent fan system, he provided everything else), which I think he over charged me. He also charged me for the time he spent figuring out he could not do the kitchen outlet, which was twice the time he spent botching it up. He figured that time covered the coupon that I bought. I would call the Brothers Electric, I found them to be much more professional, and they get the job done without all of the mistakes he will make you pay for.
Description of Work: 1.) Have a ceiling ventilation fan system installed in the bathroom, as well as moving the on/off switch from the outside wall to the inside wall of the room. 2.) Install an outlet and cable access in the kitchen for a tv.

My main complaint is the poor time management. He should have finished the job well within the two hours i paid for. He talked on the phone and dawdled around a bit and then charged me more for going over the two hours!!
Description of Work: He was on time and nice but he tore up my sheet rock in the bathroom all around the bathroom door and left it that way. He was slow working and went over the two hours then charged me extra. He was on his cell phone a couple times and that factored into his going over the two hours. He did let me give him a bundle of wire worth 40 in place of 20 of the extra dollars out of the 40 he charged me for going over. I didn't feel that he used his time well...like I said he was slow working and he left me quite a mess to clean up. He did give me lights and electricity in my bathroom though and I'm very happy about that. In all fairness I did tell him he could cut into my drywall to run the line. People have told me it should not have been done that way.

I spoke to Tim on the telephone but was not the direct contact at the condo unit. We had to reschedule a couple of times due to scheduling conflicts, but the report was that he was very quick and very professional. He had good advice about the fixtures and the condo board agreed that we will use him again.
Description of Work: Replaced outside light so we can test it. We are considering getting new fixtures for all of the units in the condo, and Tim had many good suggestions. We will be using him in the future as this project continues.

Overall it was a good experience. He was going to come at 9am, but called and said he was on his way - got to my house 9:30-9:40ish He did a good job. Didn't clean up after himself though which I expect from professionals. I would probably use him again.

The day before the first appointment the electrician called and asked if I could reschedule. He told me that he had a larger job that he couldn't reschedule. I thought it was unprofessional for him to double book but I assumed it was a mistake so we rescheduled. The next appoint was made for a mid-day appointment. I took off two hours from work to be sure I'd be home for that appointment. The electrician no showed for this a appointment. I called and left a message. He did call back within an hour telling me that his van broke down the day before. Why he didn't call me to reschedule he had no excuse for. We rescheduled for a the next Saturday morning so I wouldn't have to miss more time from work. That Saturday morning came - another no show. I left a message and again he did call back within an hour saying that he forgot to mark my appointment on his calendar and he had another job he couldn't leave. For the third time we rescheduled. This time for the following Saturday morning. I asked him to guarantee that he would get this appointment on his books and he wouldn't back out again. He guaranteed me he wouldn't miss the next Saturday. The next Friday afternoon comes along and without surprise I get a call from Sparky Electric telling me that his van broke down and he can't come to the appointment the next morning. At that point I told him that I would contact Angie's List to refund my money and I wouldn't like to do business with him (not that I believe he would have ever showed up for the job). Angie's List promptly refunded my money and after a month of waiting I will now look for someone else to do that work that Sparky Electric should have done long ago. I believe Sparky Electric doesn't use his calendar very wisely as he double books appointments over and over. He then cancels or just doesn't show up to the jobs that are smaller. He uses the excuse that his van is broken when it seems pretty clear the he doesn't want to come out to do the smaller Angie's List Big Deal job. I can understand that there is more profit in other jobs but he shouldn't have ever worked with Angie's List if he places the customers on the back burner to his other larger job customers. His business practices are bad. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: I purchased one of Angie's List's Big Deal $99 for 2 Hours of Licensed Professional Electrical Labor with Sparky Electric. However after making multiple appointments (2 calls to reschedule and 2 no-shows) I had to contact Angie's List to have them refund my money.

This is a company listen to you, respect your opinion, and perform their service on time, with high quality, save your time and money. As a property manager, I always need contractors help me out about small or big fix of different properties. The situation of this house is different, we only need to move a light from one wall to another, and we totally know how to do it, just because we do not have license, we need to hire a electrician. However, when we made phone calls, this is the only company would like listen to our description about the house and what we really want to do. All other companies either the reception desk people know nothing, or the electrician did not want to take what we were saying, insist to come out see the problem then estimate then ... and it looks like at least a $200 job for them. However, this company is the only one agreed to just come out the next day and used 20min solve the problem, and charged us $99. Everyone is happy!

He came late. He came in reaking, off the charts terrible in smell. I told him exactly what I needed but for some reason he kept needing to go back and forth to the hardware store. After he finished he charged me for all of the drive time that he had to do for him not doing his job correctly. The "fixes" he made didn't even work! The gentleman from Sparky became very angry with me when I told him it did not work. He was walking all over me because he knew I was a single woman. I had to have the guy fixing my pinball machine talk to this man, him to do the work he was supposed to do. He came back out, fixed the issue, threw the receipt for the part at me and cussed at me. Please, stay away from this guy!!

Tim came on time, actually a bit early. He was very professional and knew exactly what I needed. I needed to run to home depot to get parts and while I was gone he worked in the laundry room to get things ready. The light in the kitchen did not work perfectly at first and he had to take it back apart. The part I had bought must have been bad so I had to run back to the store and get another one. He replaced that and it worked great after that. I think he was there longer than two hours but he didn't charge me any extra. I would definitely call Tim again.

Once he got the longer drill bit he was able to finish the job. I understand that small companies such as Sparky Electric benefit from Angie's big deals primarily be getting new customers, not by the income from the deal itself, for which they often just break even. I have recently hired Tim to do some additional electrical work for an upcoming kitchen remodeling project, and expect him to do another professional job as he did the first time.
Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's List big deal for 2 hrs of electrical work for $99. Tim replaced two dimmer switches in the bathroom, and added a grounded outlet to the exterior of my home. I purchased the parts and paid for the extra time. He had to go buy a longer drill to get through the brick exterior, but the new outlet is very nice. It has a small light, and can be configured so the cover does not need to be left open if an extension cord is plugged into it.
