The outside plug-in is nice. He sawed a small saucer size hole in my wall and removed the sheetrock to get at some wires for the inside plug-in. However, he never replaced the sheetrock he removed. It keeps falling out on to the floor or in towards the inside wall. I am not satisfied with that and I thought they were very expensive.

Quite well, aside from the unexpected additional expense (no complaints, like every issue in life, we don't always know the real problem until we investigate). The workmanship was very good. We had a small disagreement on one line coming down the wall -- I wanted thin-wall for looks, he recommended armored cable. We went with the cable, but I still don't like the looks (even in a basement). The work to the equipment cabinet was exactly what I wanted. I was grateful for him noticing and addressing the power box issues (apparently there was some "home work" done before we bought the house). He cleaned up after himself (not always a priority with workers), and answered all the questions I had. I am still trying to identify the match-up between breakers and outlets-lights (not an uncommon situation in houses that have had some work and marking of breakers is of secondary importance). Cleaning all that up (included several auxiliary boxes) I hope will be handled by a new service sometime in the next few years.
Description of Work: The main purpose was completion of 3 projects. 1) re-run a line across the basement ceiling (in preparation for more extensive work), 2) run a line to an equipment cabinet (GFI), 3) re-wire an outside outlet. The first 2 required a bit more work than I had planned on, so we skipped the 3rd project. He found a few anomalies in the main power box, suggested a fix, and installed "slim" breakers to handle the situation. He provided an estimate on a new service (a big project for a different time).

I had an out door outlet that wasn't working and they came out and said it was working. I had to prove to them that it wasn't working and once I did that, they admitted it wasn't working. I had to pay extra for the second outlet. Once I pointed it out to them, they took care of the job and its been working ever since. They came on time and rescheduled which was fine. One of the guys showed up with a gross looking car in front of my house and there was a guy in there drinking pot. The worker called the guy in the car his apprentice so I thought it was better for the apprentice to meet him somewhere else instead of a customers house. It kind of freaked me out. I thought they should have been a little more professional.
Description of Work: They had to go to Home Depot to buy something and then they fixed the problem. I had two outlets done.

We had a light fixture that shorted out in the laundry room and caused all the lights on that level to go out, and the breaker could not be switched back on. The electrician from Randy's Electric installed a new fixture and discovered the basic wiring was incorrect due to a past installation and he fixed that as well. Everything worked perfectly the moment he was done and has been fine ever since. This was all for the $111 coupon for $200 work that was purchased the night before when the electrical short happened. The office response was also excellent. I was especially grateful because I was out of town and this was handled very quickly for my wife.

It went great, Joe was very friendly and was actually able to be there a little earlier than my initial window. He provided me with all the options for me to make a final decision on how much to have done at one time. I work with a budget for improvements and was able to make a call on what I had to spend and there were no added surprises. What I was quoted was exactly what I paid and everything looks great. I would definitely use them again and will.

The end result looks great. The rooms are so well lit now. The team was very professional and friendly. They took time to explain what they were doing. They were prompt, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Now that this is done I will be contacting them to do one more room. The only thing I wish is that they included a service to repair the drywall that now has to be patched up.

The electrician was very personable and professional. We connected fine. Communication was excellent. We spent the first 30 minutes or so taking a look at the issues I was having. We had very intelligent conversation about what could be causing it and options. I have an old fuse box and he talked about the benefits of replacing it with a circuit breaker panel. I said we will do it sometime but not in the budget for now. He offered to give me a proposal for my files for the panel upgrade that would be good for a year and I said sure. He felt he understood what the issue likely was, and had me accept it in writing. Even though the sales person had told me (when I asked her how they price their work) they do it based on tasks, it was not until I had to sign this estimate that I understood it. From what I could tell, they do not charge based on time and materials, but rather based on some (perhaps industry standard) way of estimating total price (labor and material) for work. At that point, I really had not other reasonable option as I had sunk 45 minutes or more of my time into it and the work needed to be done (I was concerned about safety). While doing the work, he also suggested putting a plug on an unused hole of an outside outlet, which added another $60 or so. When he was done, the price (including the $59 trip charge) was $552. The total amount of time that his truck was in the driveway was probably 2.5 hours, though I admit I did not think about timing it. Maybe that is a reasonable hourly rate, but nearly $220/hour seems excessive. Please understand that I had no issue at all with the electrician or the work that he did. In fact it was outstanding. It is the cost to pay for that, which is why I cannot use them again.
Description of Work: I had a circuit issue in my home that I was not able to figure out. A ground fault detector kept tripping and sometimes the fuse for that circuit would blow.

They were a little late, but called to notify. The electrician was professional and did the work quickly. The quoted amount changed during the conversation, which is a little bit concerning. Also $140 for coming out and installing a fixture (took about 5 minutes) is definitely overpriced. Also, note that Angie's List deal ($99 for $200) has to be all spent in one visit. They will not leave a credit for future work.

Two electricians came and were professional and friendly. They worked fast and answered lots of questions I had about other lighting issues that I had outside of the kitchen light. Scheduling was the only issue I had. I believe there might have been a new scheduler that wasn't aware of how they book appointments. All turned out well though and I would use Randy's again!

We received a reminder call from Randy's Electric the day before our appointment which we appreciated. Jeremy and Tom arrived right on time, introduced themselves and walked around the house with me to look at the areas where the work was to be performed. Jeremy carefully explained that their estimate was based on the assumption that no problems would be found and that the cost could increase if something had been improperly done in the past. One of our outside lights had not been installed to code and actually presented the danger of an electrical fire, so we were glad to have that fixed. Both Tom and Jeremy were friendly, efficient and professional. We will definitely use Randy's Electric in the future.

Randy's electric was very good at explaining all of the updates recommended and offered to answer any questions that we had before the scheduling. We were able to schedule within a week. We decided to follow the advice and upgraded our fuse box and some of the lights to be more energy efficient. We found out that some of our upstairs wiring was not done properly and could have been a major problem. There were a few unexpected finds but they were handled well- even having to call the main office to have a part delivered here. After our visit, Randy's electric helped coordinate the city inspection to complete the project. Very polite, friendly, professional and good at calmly trouble shooting problems found.

In the end it was fine. Apparently halogen and LED lights don't play well together on the same dimming circuit. We felt the process of sorting this out was more complicated than we needed it to be, plus there was a certain amount of complaining about the existing equipment. I finally had to point out that we had to go with what was available when it was installed 15 years ago... The guy was really nice though and other than the complication/confusion angle while he was thinking-out-loud, we were fine with the work that was done and would re-use this service.

I am a real estate agent. I contacted this company for a bid to rewire an entire home for a client in South Minneapolis. I was to meet Mike at the home between 12 noon and 1 p.m. When no one arrived by 1:00 pm, I contacted the company and was told they were texting and leaving him voice mail messages. Between 1:00 pm and 1:45 pm I spoke to the office three times and they could not find him. Mike finally called me and said he was in Wayzata. He told me he had tried to reach me to see if the appointment could be moved up. He never left a message for me to call him. When he did not reach me he just did not come to our appointment. On my side, while I saw there was a call that came in from what I later learned was his cell phone, when I did not recognize the number and I was with other clients - so I did not answer it. I would normally think that it would be appropriate for him to have left a message for me if he was changing our appointment. He arrived by 4:00 pm for our 12 noon appointment and wrote the bid. The bid was for $16,500.00. Being shocked by that price, we obtained another bid from a big electrical company that has been in business for over 40 years. Their bid was under $9,000. I wish I had not waited so long for him to come.

Thank you for your feedback! You are absolutely correct. You were and always will be, most deserving of a phone call and a voice message indicating our timing or lack there of. We certainly did drop the ball on our communication with you and will be sure to address this issue with the team. Please accept our apologies.

It went well overall. Although, I feel that their prices are a bit higher than others that I've used in the past. He was here for 2.5 hours, and my bill was just over $700, which felt steep for the amount of time/work for the job. Good guy, but I'll be using someone else in the future.
