Jesse called in advanced and offered to arrive a bit early and that was great for me. He was very pleasant, bright and professional. He was totally conscientious about caring for my home and he explained what would be needed to be done and what might happened once he sees the current ceiling light electrical box. He took the time to give me estimates and discuss options for my to-do list projects. I learned a lot about safety, code and current upgrades with electrical outlets and circuit boxes. Jesse did a great job and my ceiling fans were perfect. He took the time to adjust one that was a little off balance because it was an older fan. He also installed the remote control device into the fan as well. Very happy. I would be very proud to have an employee like Jesse working for my company. Great experience. Will hire Randy's Electric again.
Description of Work: Installed two ceiling in fans that needed to have a support box mounted.

The biggest problem with them is they are extremely expensive with their charges. It ended up costing me over $1000. The motion lights by themselves were almost $700. I purchased them from them and that is what they said the only lights they had and each motion light that they put up was like $350. I said, that is wild. I said, I've never met more lights that expensive before and I've had motion lights put up before. He tried to give me a sale that, well, these are LED lights and they are guaranteed for life and blah. I said, I like to get that in writing. He didn't have it at that point in time so the company ended up sending me back an email saying that he promised something that wasn't true. Those lights were not guaranteed for life. The worker actually told me a lie. Well, what they put in the email and said, we'll stand by it since he did make that promise. It was $750 just for two motion lights and then on top of that I had some wires on top of my roof that supposedly had melted snow. One was hanging down so I could tell something wasn't working right so I paid them to inspect them. They said, maybe we could inspect if there is something we can fix, we'll fix it while we are up there. Of course they inspected, they said they weren't fixable. So they charged me a bunch of money for that too. I was hoping they would do something to fix it. The bill came up to over $1000. It was ridiculous. I'll never have them back again. The total was $1260, plus the $89. I felt ripped off. That was a $59 trip charge. They charged me $292 to do electrical inspection. They found an outlet that badly charred, $71 for that. They gave me 2 monitors, $347 per monitor. They inspected my heating cables and charged me $292 for that. The inspection did nothing and didn't fix anything. They repaired an outlet for $144. That doesn't include the $89 I gave you guys. I would never use them again.
Description of Work: It was a Big Deal. I had some motion lights put up and had some inspection done of some wiring.

He did an excellent job and was very helpful on giving ideas for other electrical project i'll be doing in the future. He was on time and I felt that his work, expertise, and price were a great value.

When we moved in to our house we discovered that the previous owner, in order to run a small tax business, had added a bunch of outlets to the third floor and wired them up to junction boxes in a semi-hidden alcove. The wiring in the alcove was loose bunches of wires into junction boxes that were not attached to the wall, and many without covers. We knew this was going to cost some money to fix so we put it off for years, until about a month ago. Dale from Randy's showed up on time to look at my project. Dale was a nice, positive guy who did a great job of keeping me apprised of the cost and time frame as he went. Dale worked quickly and efficiently and was careful to wear shoe coverings and clean up the project area. He let me know that the way Randy's did business was to create and estimate for any particular job and then stick to it, my project was kind of an unknown though, of what he might find as he went, so we agreed on a beginning "investigation" price and he proceeded. As he got further back under the eves he began to find wires that had had the insulation chewed off by squirrels that were living in the attic corners when we moved in (since removed and boarded out). He also reported some "burn marks" on walls where the bare wires had touched now and then. He proceeded to replace all of the bare wires, remove the piles of wire from the floor, moved all connections to secured and covered junction boxes, clean everything up and make everything safe. He had to come back a second day, a couple days later to get it all done. In the end I was very happy with the result, Dale was a great guy to work with and honestly if he had told me twice the price I would have understood that it was a complicated job - the price was very fair. I would recommend Randy's in general and Dale Ames specifically.
Description of Work: Rewired and secured messy, loose junction boxes, replaced wires chewed by animals, moved cables out of the way.

I contacted Randy's Electric to check out a wiring issue with my current doorbell, and install a new video doorbell. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and the office clearly explained their process and services. I received an email in advance with the service provider's name (Jesse) and picture. He was able to show up earlier than my scheduled appointment window, due to finishing up early on the previous job. He found the electrical issue quickly, and fixed it. He installed the new doorbell quickly, and ensured everything worked correctly before leaving. I recommend Randy's Electric!

We are repeat customers of Randy's Electric. Every electrician we have had come to our house is friendly, knowledgeable, proactive and efficient. They don't just "fix the switch". They say, I could install a much more efficient and better looking light for not that much more. They offer suggestions to make things work better. They also work hard to understand how they can best give you the solution you need, while saving you money and time wherever possible. They have a trip fee (only $59) and they always quote out the project before getting started. I have used the "walk-through" time to have them walk through other potential projects that I know I might have coming up so I don't have to keep paying that fee to get estimates. They are more than happy to quote other projects while at your house. This is super handy when you have big electrical projects coming up, you basically get help budgeting. I really appreciate that kind of customer service. I also love that they explain what they need to do and why. This educates me as a homeowner. And it allows me to better understand the charges. They are protective of your home: floors, counters, carpets. They show you and explain finished work. In our case, he walked through a few things so when the appliance installer shows up, I will be able to easily answer any electrical questions that they may have based on the work they did. I really appreciate the high level of customer service that Randy's offers. A+

t was an awful experience. I BELIEVE I WAS SCAMMED BY RANDY'S ELECTRIC AND WAS OVER CHARGED BECAUSE I HAD AN ANGIE'S COUPON. I set appt for Thur 2/25 between 1:00 and 3:00. They called to come out on Wed at 11:30 - not acceptable for me. They then called Thurs to come at 11:00, again not acceptable for me. They then came out at 10 minutes to 1:00. I explained the problem and he checked the pantry switch and light and told me there was no power to the pantry as the switch and light unit was not defective, but had no power. I explained I had just had a dimmer switch put in by my brother, and that was the only electrical service I have had. He asked if my brother was an electrician and when I told him he Was not, I got the eye roll from the electrician, which I understood.. He then gave me two options on his ipad and I do not remember the exact charges. One was for a single circuit analysis that was well over $300 ($354.00?), which he recommended. The other was for installing a new dimmer switch and that was $200 plus. Again, I don't remember the exact charges. He then wanted me to sign which option I wanted. I asked why he couldn't just check the dimmer switch wiring my brother did. He said that was the second option which was installing a new switch. I again asked why he just couldn't check the wiring first to see if that was the problem. He said he would check it for the $200 plus and if it wasn't the problem I would have to pay the $200+ and the single circuit analysis charge of $300+. I told him I couldn't afford almost $600 and again asked why he just could not check the wiring first. I was upset with him and he became upset with me. He ( Jeremy Metzger - Journeyman) then went to the dimmer switch, took off the switch and plate, PULLED THE WIRING FROM THE WALL AND SAID THE WIRING WAS FINE. That left me no choice but to do the single circuit analysis, which I understood. He then spent at least 45 minutes to an hour taking off electrical plates and switch plates and pulling wires from the wall and apparently could not find the problem. He then went downstairs, checked the electrical panel and ceiling for any wiring issues he could see as basement ceiling was finished directly below pantry. He came back upstairs, pondered a few minutes and then went to the dimmer switch and again pulled the switch plat and wiring, JUST AS HE INITIALLY DID. HE IMMEDIATELY SAID "OH HERE IS THE PROBLEM, YOUR BROTHER WIRED A HOT WIRE AND GROUND WIRE TOGETHER. HE UNDID THE CAP, SEPARATED THE TWO WIRES AND THE PANTRY LIGHT IMMEDIATELY CAME ON! It was a 30 second fix and he was here over an hour and charged the full circuit analysis price, which I am sure was $354. I asked about my coupon from Angie's list and he said he didn't know about that. He then checked his Ipad and found the $200 coupon which I had paid $99. for and said total bill was $292 (???) and I owed $92. I have no idea where that total came from and it was not either of the two estimates he originally offered. I BELIEVE I WAS SCAMMED BY HIM AND ALSO UPCHARGED FOR A 30 SECOND FIX WHICH HE SHOULD HAVE FOUND THE FIRST TIME HE LOOKED AT THE WIRING, NOT AN HOUR LATER. He is the electrician, how could he miss the simple fix the first time and immediately, within seconds, see it an hour later? I do not recommend Randy's Electric to anyone, or Jeremy Metzger for sure. I would like to see a refund, but know I will never see it.

Randy's team came as planned. They tested everything in the power panel and reproduce the concern that I had. They found the load of several things go into one area. As there is nothing can be done at this moment, they suggested me to keep them updated in the future. They also installed the security light, including wiring and extra switch.

I had Randy's Electric out to my house to rewire some non-working 3 and 4 way switches. The previous owner tried to add a timer and dimmer to our outside lights and ended up wire-nutting a bunch of wires together so that the lights no longer worked. They were punctual and professional, and did a great job getting everything sorted out for me. I will definitely have them out again in the spring add some outdoor GFCI outlets.

The contractor was at the house at the appointed time and installed the fan to specifications. I prepaid for the fan install and there was a small upcharge as the box in the ceiling was not up to code. That part went fine. I had also arranged for him to check a few other things-- I had another fan that was popping the circuit breaker when we turned it on. The electrician took off the cover of the fan, tested it for current and told me the motor was now dead. That was all he did in that room. He then went to the bedroom to check the lights on that fan as they would flickering on and off. He changed the switch on the wall for those lights. There was also a switch shorting out in the bathroom that he changed out and he took a reading on an outlet that had gotten hot and determined it was still good so no other work was done there. He also checked something in the main box in the basement. When all was done he gave me a bill for the upcharges of $530 which I thought was a little excessive for the work done.

I bought an Angie's List $99 deal. Once he gave me the cost to move the switch 12 inches I almost had a heart attack. There were two of them and they were very polite and professional and they fully explained what they needed to do...probably too technical, but an explanation. Then he said he had to pull a permit to do the work. I had to have it done at that time since I was having a a tile back splash installed shortly. They did waive to trip charge and gave me the $200 Angie's list credit. I needed the plug on my older vacuum replaced, since it was becoming a fire hazard. They did it for $71, which I though was excessive, but I needed it done. I'm sure they did excellent work and couldn't have been nicer, but a total of $949 after the discounts I thought was expensive, but then it's been a long time since I've had electrical work done. I noted I would use them again, but I would get estimates from others also.
