Randy's Electric isolated the problem and replaced the defective GFI outlet which was located in a different part of the house. Communication was great, they showed up on time and efficiently solved my problem. I will definitely call them again when I need electrical work.
Description of Work: I had two electrical outlets in different parts of the house that did not work.

The project from start to finish was simply the best contractor experience I've had. A phone call with the very personable Cindy led to scheduling a consultation visit (which is a $59 flat fee that is applied to any work that is done). The only snag here was waiting a week to have someone come out for an issue that I was a little concerned about. Quality shops are just busier so I totally understood. Cindy offered to also add me to their on call list in order to potentially move up the schedule which I did. The did eventually call, but I chose to keep my original appointment. The morning of the consultation, I received an email introducing me to the electrician before he arrived- this was a really nice touch of service! My scheduled time window was 8-9am. At 7:59 I received a call from Richard letting me know he was in route and would arrive within 15 minutes. Again, a simple thing, but showed that they appreciated that my time was valuable. Richard arrived and I walked him through the issues we had been having. He listened carefully and discussed some of the potential causes and ruled out a couple of my other theories. I was on the fence over whether to do a shorter term fix of replacing feeder wiring or update the whole panel. Richard spent 10 minutes working up options and gave me several from which to choose. Given the service I had already received and the personable way with which Richard walk me through the project, I decided to go ahead and update the whole panel- I was that confident that I had the right person already on site. I asked about timelines for completion and Richard responded that he already had a panel in his truck and the rest of the material could be couriered over the same day. So I just left and went to work! After he completed the work, he throughly cleaned up all the remnants of the project and walked me through everything he had done. Thank you Richard for the quality of your work!

DO NOT TRUST RANDY'S ELECTRIC. The light in our bathroom was not working. We have an old, 1950s medicine cabinet with tile surrounding the cabinet on the wall. The light fixture needing attention is attached to the cabinet itself. Randy's cancelled 2 days before they were supposed to come take a look, so they said they would waive their $59 initial visit fee for our rescheduled visit. Fine. We were flexible and I appreciated their consolation. When they came about a week later, the workers (Jeremy and someone else not introduced) were friendly, if not a little condescending. After doing some testing, they determined the fixture itself was broken, not the electric running to the fixture. He showed me a small cylindrical piece, calling it the "ballast," which he was almost certain needed to be replaced. (It turned out it was NOT the ballast. More on that later.) According to our "friendly" service man, we had three options: 1) replace the "ballast" on the fixture - $200+ (he discouraged this option because ballast replacement is relatively expensive, especially when we were thinking of getting a new fixture anyway) 2) mount a replacement fixture on the built in cabinet - $200+ (He also discouraged this since it would look tacky) 3) remove medicine cabinet, mount a mirror over the hole, run wiring above the tile and mount a light fixture above the tile - $700+ (This was his preferred recommendation) Being that none of our options were ideal, especially the last, I wanted to wait to make a decision (And I'm glad I did) He seemed to understand, wrote me up estimates for the work and asked for the service call fee. I explained that it was supposed to be waived since they cancelled on us, but he told me he could only waive it if we had work done. (This was not mentioned to us) He called the office to check and spoke to the "boss" - Cindy or Cheryl? I could hear her clearly over Jeremy's phone, and I'm pretty sure she did not know I was listening, since she mentioned "needing to get paid someway or another" and saying if "she (meaning me) is going to put up a stink" that they would figure out some way for Jeremy to get paid. (I did not put up a stink) After listening to her, I determined I didn't want anything more to do with these people and paid $59 to get them out of my house. I felt bad enough after they left because of Cindy/Cheryl's obvious lack of customer service, but felt even more taken for a fool, when after a quick Google search, I learned Jeremy was trying to have me pay for an expensive ballast replacement ($200+) when all that needed replacing was the starter cylinder ($2 at Ace Hardware) My husband was able to make the switch in less than 5 minutes. If Jeremy had told the truth, I could have had him replace the starter to at least get my fixture working again, and waited to consider replacing the fixture later down the line. In short, Jeremy was trying his hardest to make me opt for the most expensive "solution." I repeat: Do not trust Randy's Electric. They are only out for themselves.

Please accept our most humble apologies for this experience. You certainly deserve more respect than what you received during our visit. We are returning the trip charge fee of $59 and will be making an additional effort to redeem ourselves to you. We are so very sorry. Sincerely, Courtney Lotzer Randy's Electric

I called Randy's Electric, they were able to send a technician out within 48 hours (it wasn't an emergency). The technician, Matt, arrived on time, he worked quickly, explained the problem as he was working and was very professional. The cost was very reasonable. I will use Randy's for the future needs of my rental properties.

Very easy to set up, professional and genuine. We chose to go with the electrician our general contractor had provided since it was all-inclusive and at a better price point for the electrical work needed.

The job was scheduled within a few days of calling. The electricians were on-time and called me before arriving. Both electricians who did the work were friendly and professional. They gave me a flat rate estimate for the job and completed the work efficiently. They had to cut down some hardware to get it to fit our current setups and did so without complaint. They even offered to haul away the old lights and containers from the new lights at no extra charge.

The service was fantastic! Due to the sale of the house we needed someone out relatively quickly, we were able to get an appointment the same week. The electrician was there right away at the specified time and the work was completed that morning within the hour. Will definatly use this company for all electrical needs in the future!

It seemed like Randy's Electric did a good job. I think that when they promise you a certain amount of money off and then it's not really clear how much the original is, I'm not sure I really like that. So I have avoided, since then, purchasing anything where I don't know exactly what I'm getting, you know what I mean? If somebody's telling me, "I'll give $500 worth of electrical work.", what does that mean? Electrical work apparently is pretty expensive so I ended up showing money out of my own pocket. That's my problem for not researching it well enough. The interaction with them was good. It was fine. The work that they did turned out good. Probably would not use them again in the future. I have no idea, I have no memory of how much I paid; I just remember it was much more than I was anticipating.

I liked that they were willing to come out. I don't feel like I was heard when I asked them initially to come out to check for underground hot wires. They came without the equipment to do that. They had to go and get the equipment to do that and come back on a different day. I don't feel they were prepared.

They did a good job. I guess we can go A on the work that they did and stuff, it's just that they were a different personality. Sometimes personalities don't click as well as others. It's not that there was anything sad or any obnoxiousness or miserable people or anything, they just weren't our favorite personality. But they did the work, did it well and it works well now. They are certainly competent. It's just the different personality thing that didn't click. I think I'd go down the line with A's again because the workmanship was what we asked for. There is nothing against competence or anything else. I wouldn't mark them down just because they weren't our favorite people. I wouldn't want the company to suffer because of that.

The electricity went out again that night, but the next day Matt came because Jeremy wasn't able to and hooked up the other line. Ever since, it has been working just fine and I am very grateful. I highly recommend Randy's Electric and both Jeremy and Matt.
Description of Work: I didn't have any electricity to my garage. Jeremy came out and installed a GFI in the garage. He and his partner determined that at that there are 2 lines out to the garage. They were able to get the electrical connection working with on one of the lines and determined that I didn't have to have a new line installed which probably would have cost about $3,000 by the time a trench was dug, etc.

The electrician was on time and very professional. He explained things clearly and was neat and tidy. The original scope of work was only a few hours to check and fix the flickering lights and switches that were not working, however, as he was working around the house he noticed a few other things like loose sockets and old switches. He gladly replaced all of these issues and let me run out and buy a light fixture to replace one that didn't work. A few hours work turned into 8 hours and he was happy to stay and finish the job. I would definitely recommend and will for sure use them again!

After seeing the sheer volume of favorable reviews, I thought this would be a no-brainer. But the experience was far better on paper than in reality. No one responded to my initial inquiry via Angie's List until 24 hours after I left the message. After calling directly, I was given conflicting information about pricing. What they COULD verify was that I would be charged $60 if I didn't accept the bid when they gave it on site. Staff was also completely unaware of the $99 installation offer on their own web site. Even when I told them I had concrete bids from other electricians they communicated clearly that they didn't care and wished me better luck next time. Yeah, that won't be happening.

We did a very large home renovation which basically involved every-room in the home. We are beyond words how this large job came out. They went above and beyond our expectations. We have bought and flipped many homes and have many horror stories to speak of regarding electrical work. DO NOT always take the cheapest electrician. That is one area not to cut corners. They offered many different ideas and always kept within our budget. The men were kind and worked very well as a team. They left the house spotless. Thank you, Jeremy, Jack, Richard, and Joel.
Description of Work: We did an entire home renovation in every room, including the garage. Added new can lighting, rewiring for lighting under the kitchen cabinets. Switched Dryer from gas to electric. Bathroom lighting, switched out the outlets and light switches, sconces.and outside lighting. Basically everything. They offered great suggestions of where to place lighting.

Fabulous, great, wonderful, kind service reps, work was completed and exceeded my expectations. Jeremy quickly and efficiently assessed what needed to be accomplished in order for the light to work again. Cleaned up when they were done and cared about helping me reach my goals as a homeowner.
Description of Work: Fix old cloth wiring to the ceiling fixture, so it can light again. Fixed a switch in addition to the light, so they provided a full service and headed off a future problem by fixing the switch while they were here.
