I hired Randy's Electric because of a special offer through Angie's List (a coupon good for $200 of service). We had a laundry list of potential projects, but I ended up having the two electricians do two jobs: replacing an old outlet on the outside of our garage, and replacing a ceiling fan in one of our bedrooms with a new fan that I had purchased. The workmanship itself was fine--no complaints there--but I had a serious problem with the pricing, which to me was outrageous. The senior electrician did tell me in advance what the charge would be ($388 for both jobs), but this was before they had performed the work, which took only about an hour. And I neglected to review an itemized statement before I signed the form (that's my fault, I realize). When I later got the invoice e-mailed to me, I noticed that they had charged $262 for a fan box, which seemed like a huge markup. I called the electrician to ask about it, thinking it might be in error since I had looked online and saw that you could buy that part for a fraction of that cost. He explained that that was their price for that part, but I could contact the service manager if I had concerns about it. I did, and my husband was equally disturbed at the amount we had paid for the work. In fact, the more I thought about it, the more outrageous it seemed to me--especially since the bill of $388 I paid had included credits of $59 for a waived trip charge and $200 for the Angie's List credit. In other words, if those had been included in a “normal” non-discounted charge, we would have been paying $650 (!) to have an electrical outlet upgraded and a ceiling fan installed--work that took 2 guys about 1 hour. So, I spoke to the service manager and asked: Does that seem like fair pricing to you for what seem to be routine / not-complicated tasks? His response was: “Obviously we believe in it [their pricing structure] and that’s what we need to maintain our level of service.” Both of us were very civil during the conversation and I asked for and received a $100 refund--but I would be very careful about hiring this company without fully understanding what their charges are for and I would *never* hire them without getting a comparison estimate from another electrician.
Description of Work: I had an older outlet on the exterior of our garage upgraded to a GFI outlet, and I had an old ceiling fan replaced with a new, which I had already purchased.

Response from Randy's Electric
Hi there, I am glad that you spoke with the electrician and service manager, but I am sorry that you still feel like the pricing was unreasonable. We do struggle from time to time when a customer puts the value on the time spent and not the workmanship and lifetime guarantee that we provide. We stand behind our work. Always. If you ever have any issue with the fan, we will get you on the schedule right away and come out and fix it. If it is the workmanship there is never a charge to you. The level of customer service I have witnessed since being with Randy's Electric is the best I have ever seen in my 20 years in the professional world. We ALWAYS take care of our customers. This isn't something we advertise, but if there is an issue we take care of it, even if it isn't something with the workmanship. Our end goal is to have a lifetime relationship with our customers. We value this so much and it brings us a lot of pride. Again, thank you for leaving your review (even if it wasn't favorable). We take feedback very seriously and learn from everything we can. If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know. Thanks, Courtney Lotzer Randy's Electric 763-560-5600

I was so pleased with Dale and crew's professionalism, ability to get the job done on time, and friendliness. They went above and beyond - even changed out a ceiling fan switch and changed some burnt-out bulbs. All-in-all, this was a very positive experience. I knew that rewiring would not be cheap, but Randy's came in at a reasonable price. Plus, they have 3 different financing options. I was able to take advantage of one, and it's not so painful to pay for! I would recommend Randy's to anyone!
Description of Work: Woke up to a burning outlet in the dining room. Found this company on Angies - it was well-rated by others. Randy's took my panicky call and sent someone out that day. Dale and his crew assessed the situation and ended up rewiring all the outlets on that one line, per my request. They also changed out the kitchen outlet and bathroom outlet and installed surge protectors on the breaker panel.

We have a 1932 home that needed some electrical updating--we had an over-taxed panel and have done a lot of work (new addition, updating rooms, etc) over the years, so it was time for a new panel. We had some wiring issues in the addition (wired wrong by other person) that came to light when we were remodeling our basement. Zach Salfer from Randy's came out and diagnosed the problem, and suggested doing a thorough fix to fully address the problem, including adding a new panel. We were reluctant, because that's expensive, but he assured us that with the new panel he would also rewire the problem area and the entire house would be much safer and up-to-date, for approximately the same cost as just rewiring the problems (possibly less). So we went with it. Zach came with two apprentices at 7:30 am and stayed until late in the evening to fix all of the many problems with the wiring and add the new panel. They even came to follow up and fix a problem outlet a few days later at no extra charge. Overall, outstanding service, great pride of quality in their work, very highly recommend Zach!
Description of Work: New electrical panel and rewiring a large room. Zach Salfer did a great job!

Zach from Randy's Electric called before his arrival. He arrived well within the 1 hour time frame. He thoroughly explained what he needed to do and how he would accomplish it, He thought he was going to have to cut a few holes in my ceiling and wall to get the electricity to the dry bar. He went the extra mile to avoid cutting the extra holes. Throughout the time he was here, he would update me on the progress. He did an excellent job cleaning up after the job.
Description of Work: I needed to have a dining room light moved about 12 inches. I also needed electrical outlets added to the area around the dry bar I'm having installed.

I chose not to do this at this time due to torsl cost Am not sure it is necessary Will consider for another time They were very careful and picked up after. I could not be happier with the whole experience. Clear and timely communication and managing/meeting my expectations was very important to everyone I dealt with, especially Zach the electrician who did the work. He made sure he understood what I wanted done, knowing that there might be more details than what the work order described. He kept in touch throughout the day, verifying important details to ensure no misunderstanding. Because this was not new construction electrical work I appreciated Zach's attention to minimizing damage to the ceiling - there could not have been less. I was hoping for a good experience and got much more.
Description of Work: I had Randy's electric move the dining room light fixture to a new location, troubleshoot and fix why several light switches were not working, and install canister lights in the living room.

Jeremy was very professional, and knew exactly what was needed for sump pump requirements. He found a way to fish a line through an existing enclosure so they didn't need to tear up any dry wall. It was done quickly and the result was clean and to code. My only complaint is the price. It was $1300 for 2 electricians for approximately 2 hours 15 minutes, an inspection, and parts for the outlet and wire. It would have been $1800 if they couldn't fish the line.
Description of Work: I had them put in a dedicated outlet for a sump pump.

Hi there. Thank you for the review! There are times people are surprised by the pricing of electrical work. Your electrician is one of our most seasoned, so you were in great hands. It is easy to put the value on time, but the real value comes with experience, especially when it comes to electrical work and safety. We also have a lifetime guarantee on all of our work, so if you run into ANYTHING, please give us a call. We will always make it right. Take care and thanks again! Courtney w/Randy's Electric

When they reviewed my requirement, I was given the option to do just what I requested (wire a new outlet to the main breaker box), but I was given several additional options as well. I opted to install an additional pair of 110V/20A outlets, and to wire all two to a new sub-panel in the garage. The new sub-panel was wired to the main breaker box. As for the actual work done, the job was done well. The process was minimally invasive, as in they made every effort to place things and feed wires through existing void spaces instead of simply drilling new holes for each item. The two-man crew was called away on an emergency at another site on the first day, but rescheduling was easy and the work was completed on the day they returned. I would certainly look to bring them back in the next time I need any electrical work done.

Good morning! Thank you for the review! I apologize your guys were pulled away to an emergency. Your understanding is much appreciated! The electricians go through training every week, and one of the things we stress is presenting options to the customer. We all like choices right? In most instances there is more than one solution, so we always try our best to communicate this to our customer. Your acknowledgement of that is great to hear! If there is ever anything we can do for you, just let us know! Thanks, Courtney Lotzer Randy's Electric 763-560-5600

I have used Randy's Electric before and was pleased with their work, so I gave them a call. Dan and his helper arrived at a time that fit my schedule. They went to work and discovered that a dimmer switch on the line was shorted out. Dan gave me the option of replacing the switch myself, or having them do it. I figured I could do it and save some money, which is what I did. I was very pleased with their work, the effort to keep they made to keep my house clean, and the more than fair price. They were very Professional. I will definitely use them again!
Description of Work: I have two pendant lights of the cooktop in the kitchen. They are the result of replacing two ceiling can spots with conversion kits installed ~10 years ago. One of the bulbs burned out, and while trying to remove that bulb, there was a moment of "shock and awe" as the bulb socket fused. I eventually removed the damaged socket and bulb (with the breaker Off) and had to replace the entire unit. However, with the breaker back on, I couldn't get any power to the new light socket. I did some basic trouble shooting with no success.

Description of Work: I had a fan installed by an "alleged" electrician, who charged 325, however, he didn't use the bracket that I had provided, broke the switch that controlled it, and overall a mess. Randy's electric came to the rescue, braced the fan properly and fixed the switch on the wall to control it. They gave me up front pricing and were clean and efficient in providing the work. The reason I used them was a 99$ for 200$ Angie's List offer. Jared was very good at upselling and I wound up doing more than I expected. However, he made no suggestions that weren't necessary. The work was done quickly and they cleaned up everything. They worked around our cable modem and wi-fi router and never lost service. They are not cheap, but they are good ... I'd recommend them to anyone.

Wonderful, efficient, timely. Switch replaced. Fixture removed, replaced with an energy efficient fixture. Looks great and lighting is terrific in bathroom. Discovered faulty wiring in bathroom. Now safe and looking great. Light post will be removed easily and safely now. Outside LED lights and doorbell are terrific. The lighting in the yard was amazing! We have a clear view of the shed from our kitchen window now. Can't wait to get the front doorbell (with camera) replaced. Phase II will include another outside LED light, too. I have an estimate for needed repairs and have already set up an appointment for phase II. Courteous and very professional. Love the service. Planning on Phase III next.
