Things went great. Both issues were rectified within a half hour or so.

I asked if the coupon would cover the work. They assured me it would. They said they could hook the new light up to the existing kitchen lightswitch. They installed the new light, but then said that they didn't feel comfortable re-installing my old kitchen light above the sink, and that I should get a new one. They sold me a new one, which they happened to have in their truck. I said as long as they were doing that, they may as well replace the one in the closet too. It wound up costing about $600 more, which I thought was too high. I think if I'd done 3 separate visits, it could have cost that much, but it was all in 1 trip which I felt was over priced. I also didn't like how much proselytizing they did.
Description of Work: I purchased a $99 Big Deal. I called them to install a new light above my counter.

I had a $69 coupon through Angie's list and contacted Randy's. We had a mudroom light that was not working. David (the technician) looked at and noted that the wires had melted and I would need a new fixture. The cost to replace would be $199. WIth the coupon it would only be $69. The fixture was not covered and that cost $39.99. I went and had the fixture replaced. I also had David look at our closet light. The ballist needed to be replaced. This cost $199. He did not have the ballist part and had to go to two different shops to find the right size for our older house. The cost of David driving to the two other shops as well as the ballist was included in the $199. Both lights work beautifully and have no issues. The entire project (including driving around) was completed in the time I expected. The technician was prompt, professional and timely. I had not looked gotten estimates from other companies for these projects. But for the $69 coupon it was well worth it.
Description of Work: I had a light fixture changed. The ballist replaced from a closet light.

Timely, professional, courteous and very willing to answer any questions. He had an assistant with him who he was training - and he was a very patient teacher! It is a Christian company - which didn't matter to me - but some people might appreciate it!

This company is highly professional and I recommend them to everyone! Scheduling was easy, they arrived right on time, and the work was high quality at a reasonable price. Brent and Fizul were the 2 on my crew, and they were fantastic. They carefully hung a new fixture 19' from the floor, and were happy to take care of other projects which I didn't originally have scheduled. The even came back the next day - on a Saturday, to finish.

Good work and happy with the result, however, the "$99 Big Deal" for installation of a motion sensor light turned into more than double that price once the fine print came into play.

I had returned home on Monday from Labor Day weekend break to find my house was 89 degrees inside and that my AC had gone out! The power supply from my house to the AC unit had burned out over the weekend. It was totally fried. I have used Randy's Electric in the past and was quite pleased with their service. They're prompt, honest in pricing and do not try to upsell. The electrician diagnosed why it fried out and recommended a couple courses of action. I chose an option and he replaced the toasted power supply in about a hours time. He was courteous and open to answering questions or concerns I had. I'd use them again and highly recommend them to anyone.

Very well. The electrician was actually almost half an hour early, which threw us off a bit but wasn't a big problem -- he called to let us know and better early than late!! The work was done beautifully, on time, and for a reasonable price. (Fixture installation was covered by a Big Deal; the switch/wiring issue was not.)

Before Joe started he explained the rather complicated & IMO deceiving $69 Angie's special installation &199, the outlet box $48, 6' wiring $48, $69 prepaid on special work 2$200 "job" price, service call $49, fuel surcharge $7.45, discount &200, owed yet $144, so I paid a total of $213. Price very misleading. Maybe recommend in the future but only if pricing was more upfront before arrival.

I purchased a coupon from Angie's List for Randy's electric. I had Randy's install a ceiling fan and 3 wall outlets, as well as a light switch. Joe my technician was very professional, neat and honest. I wanted to change my wall outlets from 2 prong to 3 prong. I thought it would cost a lot more to change over. Joe checked my wiring and let me know I had the capability to do this without an extra charge. I appreciated his honesty and would definitely call Randy's again.

I called the company Friday and the desk person made an appointment on Monday. I gave them a B for responsiveness because when I called Monday to confirm (thank goodness I did), the woman had forgotten to actually make an appointment. However, she was able to send an electrician that day. They found that a wire had been installed incorrectly into the breaker and was sparking (I think he knew that from what I told him about what was going on with the electricity already) and he also fixed another wire that was doing the same thing. Overall good experience.

Randy's Electric sent out an electrician named Brent to do the work and he was extremely pleasant to deal with and very professional. My electrical panel is located in an old coal chute, which is very unpleasant to work in, and Brent didn't complain, although it was obvious it made his job harder. He definitely invested some sweat equity.I also had Brent run new wiring for an upstairs bathroom remodel that I'm (slowly) completing, and he was able to give me an estimate and squeeze it in at the end of the day. I would definitely use Randy's Electric again.
Description of Work: I purchased a electrical panel replacement with whole-house surge protector deal through Angie's list. Due to upgrades necessary to bring my house up to code, I had to incur additional expenses beyond the panel replacement to change the house's external box and ground posts. I also had new wire installed from the electrical panel in the basement to a second floor bathroom.

I have a house built in 1903. After living with insufficient kitchen lighting, I bought one fixture and had four custom fixtures manufactured. With those in hand, Brent Hawkinson came over and we discussed optimal placement. He made suggestions based on his knowledge and experience. After I decided where I wanted everything, he began the work installing lightswitches and electrical boxes. Despite the time it took, he remained focused and productive. He never checked his phone, took a break or tawdled. He worked very hard. In the end, I have gotten great added lighting and am able to see so much more dust now that I am always cleaning! It looks great.
Description of Work: I have used Randy's Electric on many occassions. I have come to trust and request one of Randy's electrictions specifically. Electrician Brent Hawkinson has added outlets and breakers, replaced very old fuse boxes and installed lighting switches and new lighting to name just a some of the work he has done. He is an excellent electrician. There doesn't seem to be a job he can't do or figure out how to do. He gives choices, the cheap way, the best way, the most expensive way, the most logical way. I like that about him. He is pleasant to be around and easy to talk with. He seems to go out of his way to fit us into his busy schedule. He is very neat and concerned with not leaving a mess behind him. I would recommend him to anyone. I am sure Randy's has lots of great electrictians, but I am lucky enough to have gotten Brent the first time I called and have continued to request him due to his quality of work ever since.

I had previously received a quote from an A rated electrician for the same service for $2000. This included replacing the ground and bringing everything up to code. I decided not to do the work at the time because it was more than I expected and wasn't in the budget. I purchased a Big Deal for an electrical panel swap with a value of $2000 for $949 from Randy's Electric. When the electrician from Randy's Electric showed up he wrote me a quote for an additional $1200+ to complete the work for a total of over $2150 with the coupon. That would make the total value of the work over $3200. That's 60% higher than I was quoted by the A rated company for the same service. The electrician kept trying to sell me on why I should cough up the dough and just let him do the work since he was already there and ready to go. His best offer was to match the price of the other company. That meant it would cost the $949 I paid for the coupon plus another $1051. That makes the coupon not so much a coupon, but a pre-payment for regular priced service. The electrician kept talking about the fine print. Fine print or not, if you are charging full price for the service it is not a coupon and is certainly far from a "Big Deal." I find it hard to believe that many panel swaps don't include some sort of code fixes. It would be a lot wiser to figure the most common into the coupon so the deal is more realistic. Alternatively, don't significantly overinflate the "value" of the coupon to try to dupe people into thinking they are saving money. I doubt an honest company would charge more than $1000 for the vanilla panel swap that is apparently covered in the "Big Deal." The materials probably cost under $200 and even at 1 day that leaves $100 per hour for labor. Maybe Randy's electric is okay if you call them for a regular quote where they are up-front with pricing. However, they do not seem to understand the concept of a coupon. I would steer clear of any Big Deal offered by this company. The only good thing that came out of this is that I was able to confirm Angie's List's commitment to customer service. They promptly issued me a refund for the Big Deal.
Description of Work: The plan was to have my 100 Amp fuse box replaced by a 100 Amp breaker box. The work would necessarily require bringing everything up to code.

Member, thank you for submitting your feedback on our coupon for panel change out. I appreciate your concerns, however, I think it is important to recognize that when we offer these "Deals" - it is to satisfy a consistent need. The consistency in this case is the need for an upgraded panel and wiring. The coupon offer(s) seldom if ever, will be a "fit for all" because of the electrical uniqueness of each home or business that we service. I am sorry that we were not able to be more clear with you on the front end making the purchase of this Angie's List coupon and our service, end on a positive note. It isn't until we are in the electrical environment before we can really determine the complexity of the job requesting to be performed. At that point, our intent is to be upfront and clear on what you may expect in terms of pricing, time-frame for getting the work performed and lastly, the warranties for the products we provide and the craftsmanship of our work before the work gets done before we begin the work. Again, please accept our apologies. Randy's Electric

Great! Good lesson learned about having a security light on the front of my home near a busy road and the effects it could have on my neighbors!
Description of Work: Although Randy's was not able to install the security light for me, I was not disappointed with Randy’s Electric at all. Quite the contrary, they were great to work with, were prompt on their time and prepared to do the work. I plan to use them in the future for my electrical needs. There was simply a misunderstanding of how the security light was going to be installed. Instead of installing a new fixture, they wanted to use one of the existing lights that were on either side of my garage door. I was not willing to change the look of the home for that. Also, because of a somewhat busy road in front of my home, the electrician offered that the security light would be activated frequently, causing some issues for my neighbors during the night. The fact he was more concerned about the functionality of the light instead of making a sale really impressed me. Angie's List and Randy's were both very cooperative in this situation and I'm a very happy customer. Look forward to using you in the future, Randy's. Keep up the honest and great service!
