Joe and Bruce were on time, personal, understood what the problem was and had a plan of action. This gave me an estimate for each step and then very quickly found the solution.
Description of Work: We had a mysterious electrical in the wiring of a bedroom. Another electrical company had charged us $300 and couldn't locate the problem. It was a hidden, non functioning old box.

This is the second time that I hired Randy's Electric. The first time was due to an Angie's List Big Deal and I was so pleased with their quick yet thorough job that I decided to hire the same electrician, Mike, again. Mike showed up on time and quickly got to work. Unfortunately my furnace decided to quit the same day and it was COLD but he took it in stride. Just kept his coat on until the furnace guy arrived to fix it. I originally only had outlet replacement as a part of the plan but after seeing a couple areas of concern, we also decided to replace a couple circuit breakers. I appreciated the extra eye out for hazards especially since the previous owner of my house did a lot of DIY work that wasn't exactly done correctly and I wouldn't have known otherwise. I would hire Randy's again!
Description of Work: Replaced 16 outlets with grounding outlets and updated a couple circuit breakers.

I bought the light fixture that they were going to install. We told them what we wanted to do. No where on the coupon did it explain that new light fixture had to be installed where a light fixture once was. I asked for an estimate for the work and the man kind of gave me an attitude about it. I just explained what the print read on the coupon but he gave me attitude. I told him it was ridiculous. He offered to do other work. I had to continually ask him to leave before we utilized the coupon. I then requested for a refund. It was a generally un pleasant experience and the deal was ambiguous. ** In response to the response below** Yes, really. I wasn't going to bother writing a review, but Angie's list occasionally calls up members and asks them how their experience was with vendors that they bought Big Deals for. They asked about my experience with Randy's Electric, and I provided an honest answer over the phone. I certainly wasn't going to lie. The language on the coupon WAS ambiguous, and thumbing through other reviews here, I notice that I'm not the only one who felt/feels this way. I did detect an attitude from the technician who came out, as did my wife. These are true statements about my experience with your company. " I can't believe that he would post this when it makes himself look so bad." I don't look bad in this situation, you do. You can choose to take constructive criticism to improve your business, or you can choose not to believe it and claim that it's the fault of the dissatisfied customers. It is unfortunate for you and your company that you're choosing the latter.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal. They said they would either install a light fixture or a ceiling fan.

Response from Randy's Electric
I know that the customer is always supposed to be right, but REALLY? It is very clear in the deal that it does not include wiring. It says "replacement of." Then the electrician did everything he could to leave a happy customer....and tried very hard to not make him feel stupid. I can't believe that he would post this when it makes himself look so bad. We try really hard to be really clear about the deals.

Ok-on time, did a good job but maybe a little high priced on the alarm replacement.
Description of Work: Joe did the work-on time, called when he was on the way, did a good job. In addition to fan install, I had two detectors replaced and this went well but I think the price was a little too high. Overall, I will use them again.

I hired Randy's Electric to perform electrical work in my basement as part of my basement remodel. I have an older home, so I expected to have some "surprises" in the work that would need to be performed. Randy's techs took my home's age into consideration with their original estimate, and so there weren't any money "surprises" when the work was completed. The work was completed on time and within the estimate provided. The lead tech was great about keeping in touch about the progress of the work, and was quick to contact me if they came across anything that needed clarification or anything unexpected. I recommend their services for anyone needing to change anything electrical that involves more than just replacing or adding outlets and switches.
Description of Work: Replace service panel; replace electric meter, housing and mast; remove old wiring, knob & tube, junction boxes in the basement and replace with Romex and new junction boxes where new Romex tied in to existing vertical electrical runs to upper floors. The crew even traced down existing circuits and marked them on the new service panel. They also installed a new motion-activated light in the cellar and two separate GFCI circuits in the laundry room for the washer, dryer & freezer.

Three words to describe the experience are "great service" and "satisfaction". I purchased an Angies List Deal for the fix of a defective GFI receptacle. I made an appointment via phone and the technician, Joe, called ahead and showed up on time. He explained the terms of the Deal and we discussed the GFI issue and a couple of others. It turned out that it needed replacement and it was a unique type so he picked one up from their supplier. He also fixed an outlet that was wired backwards, fixed a light above the bath sink and attached loose wires to a junction box. I was able to take advantage of another Angies List Deal to fix the other electrical issues. Joe also cleaned up the area thoroughly before leaving. He was very courteous and professional. I am very satisfied with the results and highly recommend their service again!

Cindy at the office was very friendly and very easy work with finding a time that fit our schedule. And while friendly office staff is great, it's the people who show up to do the work that have the biggest impact on me. Their technician Joe was very professional yet super friendly and personable. Joe made sure he knew exactly what we were looking for, gauged the work and made out a written estimate, then promptly got to it and did a great job. He was very easy to work with and really seemed to know his craft well. We're really impressed with the technician that Randy's Electric sent out.

It went excellent and they saved me big money. They're very thorough. I trust them.
Description of Work: I used a big deal purchase from Randy's Electric for ceiling fans. I spent $500 but they saved me about $900. They came to install two light systems that I had purchased. He told me something about one of the light systems I had purchased so I took that back and that saved me about $260. Then he also got a dead outlet to my garbage disposal working again. So I didn't have to get a new garbage disposal. He also found a problem in the circuit breaker box, fixed that, which in turn corrected whatever was going wrong with my microwave. So I didn't have to get a new microwave.

The job was to replace a non-working dimmer switch. After the job was done, Dave added a $49 charge to the bill for a service call. I objected. That was what I had already paid $99 for with the 'Big Deal'. So, he removed that charge. I paid $31 for the replacement part. The new dimmer switch is now working again.

Randy's Electric did a nice job, accurately quoting time and price for the work. The electrician (whose name I cannot recall off the top of my head) was very pleasant and took care to make sure he understood the work to be performed prior to beginning the work. We could not be happier with the service and quality of work done. That being said, I believe that Randy's Electric was swarmed by an Angie's List deal, which led to difficulties scheduling our appointment. We had originally scheduled a different date, but the electrician failed to show up. Neither the electrician or anyone from Randy's Electric called to notify us. When my wife finally called about an hour after the stated arrival time, they informed us that the electrician would not be coming today. They offered to reschedule and waive a $50.00 service fee (I believe that is what they called it). After this slight hiccup, the electrician appeared at the scheduled time, even calling in advance to let us know he was running about 10 minutes late. As for cost, we did not, contrary to most advice, get multiple quotes. I had sort of priced this in my mind as not costing more than $2000.00. With our Angie's List deal and the waiving of the $50 service fee, I believe we got a pretty good deal/price. I would not hesitate to recommend Randy's Electric, despite the scheduling issue.
Description of Work: 1) Replaced multiple outlets 2) Moved light in bathroom to be on center 3) Fixed master/slave switch issue on 4-way hall switches 4) Fixed master/slave issue in kitchen and dining room 5) Added or extended circuit to hard-wire garage openers 6) Added a 220 circuit in garage for future garage heater 7) Brought panel in garage up to code 8) Installed/replaced fire detectors to bring the house up to existing code

Overall everything was positive, my only complaint is the price. The cost was upfront and there were no surprises, it just seemed high at $950 for 2 hrs of work and very little materials.
Description of Work: I had flickering lights and a short to ground in conduit in the basement. 2 guys showed up and went over what the coupon covered and I walked them through the issue. After about 20-30 minutes, they had diagnoised the problem and then went over a price sheet on what the repairs would cost to fix it. The fix was to bring up the ground cicuit to code by runing a new wire from the water pipe to the new ground post outside the house. A section of wiring was also replaced in some conduit due to concerns that in the area of arching it could have damaged the wires running inside.

I was very impressed with Joe, the electrician who did the work. He reviewed the job with me to be sure that I was getting what I expected, then got right to work. When he was finished he showed me what he did, including setting up a new circuit for the room with the new outlets, and rewiring a junction box that he had noticed problems with. The before and after pictures made me very grateful for his visit, because it was obvious that those wires that he replaced were not safe! Joe cleaned up everything, and I hardly knew that he had been there....except for those very handy new outlets! I like this company very much, and will definitely call them when I need work done in the future.
Description of Work: We set up an appointment, and Joe came over - right on time - and installed several new outlets in the dining room, a new 20 amp circuit, a new whole house surge protector and GFI in the laundry room. While working in the basement, he saw another issue and took care of it, showing me the before and after on the walk-through at the end of the job.
