The service was completed as scheduled, but when we plugged in our new dryer a couple of weeks later, the outlet didn't work. I called and requested that the electrician come back and fix the problem, which he did after a couple of days. On the second try the outlet functioned properly and we were able to do our laundry. We have used Randy's Electric several times in the past, always receiving good service and never having any problems, so we think this time around was a very rare occurrence and we plan on calling them back in the future.
Description of Work: Randy's Electric installed an electric outlet for our new dryer (replacing a gas dryer).

We initially called for service to fix a broken plug point. Jeremy was on time although it was the coldest day in the last decade! Kudos for the punctuality. Our house was about 25yrs old, and hence what we thought was a simple broken circuit turned out to be a big problem due to of the previous owner's temporary fix to fix a light in the ceiling. Jeremy patiently explained the problem and he tried to identity the issue very systematically. We all realized that it was not a simple problem. Jeremy guessed that he had to cut open a portion of the ceiling drywall to identify and fix the root cause. We discussed in detail about the outcomes of this work. And we all took the decision to cut open the ceiling wall to fix the issue. Jeremy was very patient and understanding as we discussed. He did a really good job of trying to remove the smallest possible drywall for the fix. And to our surprise Jeremy's guess was right and the root cause was the improper circuit connection that was hidden behind the ceiling. He fixed it and now it all looks profesional. In addition to the primary issue, we now have a proper circuit for the entire room, which is as per standard. At the end he also cleaned up the entire place. He also gave a warranty for the work he did and we felt for the time he spent and the effort he put, the cost wasnt high. We are overall very happy with his work. The best part was Jeremy did not force us to do any extra job, he just explained the things in detail. We will definitely call him if we had any other electrical issues at home.

It turned out that the lights they had with their special offer did not meet our needs. Brent tried hard to adjust the set so they would work for us with no luck. He even replaced the first set with another set. The problem was height. The position on our garage was to high for the light sets they had. Brent suggested that we purchase a set on our own and they would install them for us at no extra charge. We did that and are very happy with the results. This is a great company to work with. They stayed with us until the job was complete and we are satisfied. We give them the highest recommendation.

I had lost the lighting from the ceiling fixtures in a downstairs bedroom, so thought I's take advantage of the Angie's List "Big Deal" to get $200 in electrical services for $89. When I made the appointment, I was told I would be charged $49 for the service call and I had no issues with that. We scheduled the appointment. Joe and Scott showed up on time and we discussed what needed to be done and they also suggested a whole ouse inspection for $57 which I decided was a good idea for a 40 year old house. What they found in trouble shooting the lighting issue was a poorly installed wire junction that was actually showing some charring on the beams through which it was run. The wires had been cut so short there was no way of simply fixing it. What was needed was actually installing 3 junction boxes to allow adding the wiring necessary to make clean connections. After finding the problem, which they showed me, I realized was a safety issue that needed to be rectified ASAP. It took a couple hours of work to get the fix in place, but I'm thankful they found the problem and could fix it. The results of the whole house inspection were also interesting in that they found outlets in two bathrooms that did not have GFI protection. This was a surprise to me, but I did verify their findings after they left. They also identified several other issues that I will probably get repaired in the near future. All-in all it was a more expensive exercise than I had expected (I thought it was a bad switch), but I feel much better knowing it was fixed properly and that I have a better understanding of issues in the house.
Description of Work: Re-established power to lighting in a downstairs bedroom and conducted a whole house electrical inspection.

Everything went well. I wasn't sure what the problem was with the old fan as it didn't always seem to remove the steam from the shower very well. They were't sure either, but indicated that the flap on it was not moving freely. Since I had a replacement fan and the old one was more than 20 years old, I had them replace it. Its work fine ever since.

They did all of this quickly and professionally. We requested additional work, they checked to see if it was necessary and found that there was no reason to make these changes because everything was wired correctly. They are very honest and extremely easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this company to all those needing electrical service.

I just wanted a couple of plugs replaced and the Christian pitch at the end made me extremely uncomfortable. I had people in MY HOME that I was PAYING for a service, I did not ask them any personal questions. As I was paying for my service the guy pulled out an 'Ask me about my Faith' card (I didn't ask!) and stated that they were a Christian company. It was just weird and uncomfortable. I don't feel like this is something that someone who you are paying to perform a service should bring up (I didn't stand over them spouting off my beliefs during the appointment because they didn't ask and that would be weird) I would not use them again specifically because the proselytizing at the end of the appointment made me so uncomfortable, I think that is extremely unprofessional behavior. Aside from that weirdness I mentioned above, they were 2 hours late. I was given an appointment window of 11-1, they showed up at 3. No one called me to let me know they were running late, I had to call the company and ask. Even though they were 2 hours late they still charged me the $49 trip fee, yeesh.

Joe and Chris were polite and professional. They explained what needed to be done to update my 1985 kitchen to meet code and made arrangements for the permit. They completed what they could until the counters are in place. Joe came out on short notice to move a light switch and outlet so that my cabinet person could finish his part. I really appreciate the flexibility and having everything explained in a way I could understand. I've had electrical people to my home before, but Joe and Chris were the first that acted like electrical professionals.

The electrician did a great job troubleshooting and fixing the problems. However, CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!! Randy's rate structure is crazy expensive and they don't tell you this until they're out at your home appraising the situation. It is not advertised anywhere within Angies List or on their own website. When you set up the appointment the do tell you about a trip charge of $49 but that's it. They tell you nothing of how they have their services categorized. Just be forewarned.....they are NOT an HOURLY shop so if you expect to pay an electrician by the hour....do NOT hire this company. I paid $1075 for a fix that took less than 2 hours and the whole bill came in at $1375 for a job that took less than 6 hours. The electrician does tell you this after they assess the issue (at a high level) but you get blind sided by the pricing structure. Granted, I approved the work even with the obnoxious amount that they were charging but it was something that I needed to get completed and I didn't have the time to call around for other bids. My biggest complaint about Randy's Electric is not the service. It's the fact they do not even mention their pricing structure anywhere in their advertisements and they spring it on you when they get to your house....and by then you've already committed to having to pay them the $49 trip charge. Not a good business practice in my opinion. This is obviously something they could mention to the consumer over the phone but the choose not to. I asked that Randy call me to discuss which he did (although we left voice mails for each other) and he told me the same thing....consumer beware. He bragged about their lifetime warranty.....how many times have you had to call back an electrician because of faulty wiring?...not I. Why they don't tell the consumer up front of their business model and pricing structure is still unclear but I own my own business and I would never blind side a customer like this. If price is of no concern to the customer....I'd recommend hiring this company. Otherwise I would NOT hire this company again.

Very impressed with Randy's Electric. They called the morning after I left a message and was able to set an appointment within 5 working days. They called back the day before to reminder me. Jeremy arrived on time, thoroughly assessed the situation and presented his plan very specifically. Answered all my questions. Job took longer than he estimated but he stuck to his estimate even though I gave him several opportunities to adjust the estimate but he wouldn't change. Jeremy also consulted on a future electrical project, providing an estimate. I WILL be using Jeremy and Randy's Electric again.

Somebody could have ripped us off but Randy's Electric came in and my daughter was there alone, and she felt safe with them. They were so courteous, it was Christian based, and I have been telling everybody about Randy's Electric. It is an A+ company in my book. We've only used them once but it was a pretty complex problem. They found the problem within 20 minutes and fixed it, and cleaned up after themselves. My daughter had nothing but grade A and I've recommended them to several people. They are the best I've ever had with an electrician. I wouldn't hesitate one nanosecond from recommending them. The price was exactly what they quoted us and it was really reasonable. For what they did, I thought they just were right on the money. We gave them tips because they were so good. We will absolutely use him again. His card is right on my board and we've instructed the management company that manages our property for us, they are only to call Randy's Electric.

It went great. David arrived on time with his helper. He reviewed what needed to be done and gave me the estimate of the cost to which I agreed. David is very personable and easy to talk to. He presented me with the available alternatives to each of the things I wanted done as we went along. Each time he covered the advantages and disadvantages of each as well as any additional cost over our original estimate. The work was done very neatly and all trash was cleaned up. They were careful to cover their shoes so I didn't get snow tracked into the house. I would definitely recommend this provider to friends and family and will use them again as needed in the future.
Description of Work: I had 4 small items that needed repair. I have a house whose original permit was issued in 1903. #1. Replace an old push button switch in the wall with a current model. #2 Fix an electrical outlet that did not have the enclosing box for the wiring. #3 A push button switch on an electrical fixture was broken and had tripped the circuit breaker when it broke. 4. The switch for a fixture that turned on/off in the main floor and on/off on the second floor had caused a circuit breaker to trip. I wanted all of these to be fixed by a licensed electrician rather than a handyman.

We had originally scheduled an appointment for earlier in the week with a 10-12 am window. At 11 am they called to say that the truck had broken down and they had to reschedule. Not a major problem. They were very prompt on their second visit, arriving well within the appointed time and calling in advance of their arrival. We were surprised that our mast and meter weren't up to code and were glad the technician suggested we fix it. He was nice and knowledgeable and seemed to do very good quality work. I was surprised at how expensive it was to even run an extra outlet in the basement. We also wanted a new line to the garage. The cost seemed very high for that. The technician also didn't want to discuss how we might adjust the price if we changed what we had done. We asked about skipping the additional outlets, etc, but he said that there was no changing the cost. He seemed unwilling to discuss it at all. I was also a little put off by the fact that the electrician left us with a small card saying, "Ask me about my faith," and pointing out that Randy's was a christian company. When we pay a company for their services, we don't expect to be proselytized at the same time.
Description of Work: The electrician came out to look at a number of projects, including running a line to a detached garage and installing some additional outlets. Because it is a renovated house, though, the electrician pointed out that our mast and meter box weren't up to code. So we had him repair all of that first and that was it. We then later had them come out to run the line to the garage.

I have nothing but praise for Randy's Electric. The electricians were very professional and concerned with how satisfied I was with their work. They ended up installing additional outlets and light fixtures in the garage at no additional cost, and at their own recommendation. They were also very patient and accommodating of a 55 year old house with some questionable electrical work done by the previous owner. They also tried to be the least intrusive as they possibly could by limiting the number and duration of service interruptions, working around me (and the dogs), and cleaning up at the end of the day. Overall, I am very happy with their work and I will use them in the future if I need any electrical projects done.
Description of Work: The estimate included the following: Bathroom-new outlet and repair of non working exhaust fan. New outlet in 2nd floor hallway. Kitchen-new outlet plus relocation of another outlet, light fixture installation. 2 new outdoor outlets on the front of the house and back of garage. New service panel and complete rewiring of garage including new outlets and light fixtures.

The installation went great. The installer was courteous and fast. He not only replaced the light fixture, he also replaced a small bit of wire that the previous owner had used to install the last light fixture with a higher grade piece of wire that the owner should have used in the first place. He then disposed of the original light fixture and box from the new one for us. The living room was tidied up and you wouldn't have known he was there - except for the fully functional light fixture that is.
