He arrived on time and greeted me, announcing who he was and gave me his calling cared. He then asked me about the problems I was having with our electrical service. Upon learning those details and before beginning the work he asked if he could check the wiring and electric box in the basement and also asked to check out all of our smoke and CD detectors. All was fine but he did suggest that we place a smoke detector in one upstairs room which is a bedroom but currently being used as an office. He then figured out what it would cost to repair and replace what was necessary; I approved that and he went to work. He discovered the reason why the two lights no longer worked and repaired it so both switches and lights worked. He replaced the dimmer switch with a normal on/off switch and went to purchased the SLD6 recessed light. He returned from purchasing it and replaced that light, cleaned everything up and explained to me everything he had done and what he did to correct the problem with the wiring. He did the work quickly, neatly and well. He explained everything very well and completed the entire job in around an hour. He was pleasant and respectful to me and our house, and careful and neat while working. I appreciated his work and professionalism. He did excellent work.
Description of Work: Found out why two of our light switches no longer worked; corrected it. Replaced a old recessed light and dimmer switch with a new SLD6 light and change the switch from a dimmer to a normal switch.

Basement laundry room flourescent light was not coming on consistently so we purchased a coupon that fixed an electrical issue for $99. The electrician was very knowledgeable but he wanted to give us advice and then offered to fix every electrical issue that he observed while en route to look at the one electrical issue we wanted him to fix. Once he determined that the lighting assembly was faulty, we were charged extra for him to install a new lighting assembly. So we paid $99 to be told our assembly was bad and then additional charge for the installation. I will never purchase another coupon deal like that again - it seemed like just a way to get a foot in the door to find more work.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize if you felt as if our visit was anything less than professional. Our goal is to be sure you are well taken care of as it relates to the job you needed to have completed, while also offering ideas on items that may or may not need to be corrected. As long as we are at your home, if there are items that we can take care of for you within that same visit that may be of benefit to you while making your home a safer environment - we are happy to do so. There is no pressure to you to do anything more. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and am happy to have a discussion with you if you desire. Thank you.

Sean, the electrician who actually gave me the estimate, arrived exactly on time, and called in advance to let me know he was coming. We walked through the areas in which he would be working and discussed what would be done and what the timing would be. He answered all my questions completely, making sure I was fully informed. Since this is part of a whole-house reno project, Sean was willing to work with me regarding the best way to incorporate the adding of bead-board to the porch ceiling into the fan installation process so that the fans would not have to be taken down at a future time to install the new ceiling cover. He coordinated what he was doing and where he was working so that we had a sufficient window of time to install the new ceiling while he was working in another area of the house. Before he installed the fans, he checked with us one more time as to the exact locations we wanted the fans positioned. He also checked with us one last time regarding the decision to add the light fixtures. Our porch has low ceilings, so we were not sure if adding the lights would cause it to be too low in the room until the fans were actually up. In the end, we decided to add the lights, and Sean explained what would need to be done if we chose to remove them at a later time. Also, Sean noticed that the remote controls that came with the fans were not programmable, which can be a problem with 2 of them in the same area/room. He explained in advance that often one controller will end up operating both fans at the same time, and the other controller will not work at all. As it turned out, this is exactly what happened, but since we knew it was a possibility, there were no negative surprises. Sean tried a number of fixes, none of which worked, so he gave us some other options we might want to consider in the future if we decide we can't live with one remote operating both fans simultaneously. Also, not to be overlooked, Sean cleaned up the area when he was done working. Not only did he remove all of his tools and debris, but he even vacuumed where there was dust from cutting into the wall and ceiling. That was a first for me! The bottom line is we can't be happier with the work that Sean did for us. Our house is 97 years old, with all the quirks and pitfalls of an old house with decades of "improvements" along the way. Sean was not able to complete all the work in a single day, so he arranged his schedule to be able to come back the next day to finish the job, rather than leave us hanging for several more days. Even though the job took longer to do than originally expected, we only paid the original estimation price, not one cent more. We really appreciate the way Randy's Electric does business...quality work backed by integrity. We will definitely be using them again, and we will be seeing Sean soon. We have already gotten an estimate from Sean to fix a problem in our bathroom, and are looking forward to having the same quality and care there as we have experienced in this project.
Description of Work: Installed second electrical service panel; ran new circuit to front porch area (which reduced load on existing overloaded circuit by moving this area to new circuit); ran wiring and installed secure boxes for 2 ceiling fans in porch; installed fans complete with wall switch, light kits and remote control.

The person arrived and presented himself in a professional manner. He was easy to speak with. He did inspect the circuit board he installed in 2012. Unfortunately, also stated that the system work we were hoping for was more "Greek" to him. He did offer to check the switches and lamps but didn't feel he could fix the problem. He did reassure me that he "wouldn't make it worse". I didn't feel my money would be well spent with the provider listed. Nor did I want to spend any money on (if it could be fixed).

I'm always worried that I'll feel taken advantage of with something like electrical work. With Randy's it was exactly the opposite. At the end of the appointment the technition felt that he hadn't done enough for the $200 coupon. I had to assure him he'd done more than I was expecting.

Randy's Electric did a great job. They were fast, efficient and got everything done to my satisfaction. I knew the offer wouldn't cover everything I ended up having them do, but it was a little more than I expected. But hey, that's OK. They arrived on time, were professional and finished before I knew it. I will definitely contact them again when I need additional electrical work.

The Electrician was professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He quickly assessed the issue and repaired all items requested in a very short period of time. Their card is on my desk and I'll call Randy's for all electrical needs
Sean came to my house exactly on time, with a courtesy call in route about 20 minutes before he arrived. He immediately put on shoe covers, even though my house is in a state of over-all construction. He first checked the porch area where we want the fans to be installed, then he went to the basement to check the circuit breaker panel. When he saw that we only had one available circuit, which is already designated for another project, he explained the possible need for an auxiliary panel to be installed. Next, he checked the existing circuit which feeds the porch area to determine if there was enough available "load" to add the 2 fans. We discovered that the existing circuit was already overloaded, so Sean explained the various options we had to make the fan install work. Ultimately, we decided to wait on any work until I had a chance to discuss the situation with my husband. Although I was prepared to have him do the work that day, in the end I just paid him the "trip charge" of $49. An itemized written estimate was provided for the proposed work, which was easily understood and very reasonable in price. I was most impressed with Sean's professional demeanor, as well as his knowledge and patience with my questions. He was very thorough in his explanation, spelling out pros & cons, costs and code issues. Sean answered everything completely, and never made me feel like my questions were obvious or ridiculous. Also, he gave me his full time and attention. I never got the feeling that he had one foot out the door to get to his next appointment. Finally, I was very happy to know that since he did the walk-through/estimate, HE would be the electrician to come back and do the work. That makes me confident that he knows what the full situation here is, which someone else would not be aware of without additional explanation from me. My husband agreed to all the work Sean suggested, to add the auxiliary panel, run a new circuit and then do the box and fan install. At present, we have a scheduled date for the work to be done.
Description of Work: An electrician came to my house to give me an estimate on installing 2 ceiling boxes in my enclosed porch, capable of supporting ceiling fans. It was understood that if there were no significant problems with the proposed project, the work could/would be done that same day.

Electrician was friendly, prompt and competent. He seemed a little frustrated by some of the problems that cropped up, but dealt with them without too much fuss. The only reason I wouldn't hire them again is that they emphasized their Christian faith more than I liked. I have no problem with businesses being faith based and using those values to provide good service, but giving out flyers about their faith is not something I want to support

It all went very well. Everything was cleaned up well. On time. Courteous, professional. However, the chandelier was so heavy that I had to help hold it while it was installed. Bought this via Angie's List "Big Deal" - $89 for $200 worth of service. Provider cancelled first appointment at last minute, which was very disappointing, although gave me a $25 credit for my inconvenience (but certainly less than the value of my missing work to stay home for a no-show). Second appointment arrival punctual. 5 minute evaluation suggested this was of "medium" complexity, which fell into provider's $325 or so price range. Although I could not have repaired the fixture (replaced some sort of thermal wiring), the fact that it took less than 15 mintues for actual repair suggests to me that this should not be "medium" complexity item. If I hadn't purchased this through the Big Deal program, I would have felt the pricing to be inappropriat4ely expensive for the time the visit took the electrician. The work was done professionally, the electrician knew his stuff, but $325 fora total of 20-25 mintues at my home seems exhorbitant.

My dishwasher stopped working. I call Best Buy's Geek Squad as I bought the machine there 2 years ago. After two service calls ($150) they said that they couldn't fix it as the problem was electrical and they weren't electricians. Good service
Description of Work: I call Randy's Electric who came out and discovered that the machine's connections to the electricity were loose, which caused a burn on the wires, which also caused a burn in the electrical box which could have caused a house fire. Dealing with Randy's was a great experience. We had had a light leading to our upstairs that had not been working appropriately for some time. We contacted Randy's and set up the appt easily. They were right on time getting to our home. Our Electrician was very friendly and professional, explaining his findings. It turned out that some of the wiring was done a bit... backwards. So he recommended fixing that as well, while he was there. He was not pushy in the least, just explaining what needed doing and that he could fix it but it would cost a bit more. But we wouldn't "need" to do it. I appreciate being given a choice on matters, and the honesty behind his recommendations. We took him up on the additional service, as it likely might cause further service later on down the line. He did the repairs and it's been great. That was a couple months ago. We have the magnet they gave us on the fridge and will definitely call for further electrical needs. I highly recommend dealing with Randy's. Honesty, integrity, professionalism, great work... what more does one need?

After purchasing a discount through Angie's list, I received an email from Randy's Electric asking me to call to schedule my appointment. When I called, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a crew would be available that same day. I was told who to expect (Brent and his partner), that there was a trip fee, and that I'd be provided with an estimate when Brent was able to identify what work was required. Brent called about 45 minutes before arriving. He and his partner wore booties (a nice touch) and quickly identified what was necessary to install the GFCI outlet for my new bidet toilet seat. With the discount I received through the offer at Angie's List, I felt the charge was reasonable. I am very pleased with the results as I wasn't sure it would be possible to install an outlet on that wall. I'm also very pleased with Brett and Dave. The were both friendly and professional. I will definitely be calling Randy's Electric for any future electrical needs.

He arrived on time and went right to work after checking electrical panel. I guess I did not fully understand how the coupon I purchased ($89 for $200 of electrical service) worked. Silly me! My thought was that 1 hour would take care of the job (and it did) and that would be about $200. I was wrong as I was billed an additional $143. So with the coupon the total was $232. I would like to use Angie's List again, but I sure will ask a lot more questions the next time.
Description of Work: He replaced 3 ceiling fixtures with lights that I purchased. Two were flush mounts & one was semi-flush.
