I didn't get nearly my money's worth. The job I had in mind involved wiring some fluorescent lights and since they were the kind of lights I bought at a Home Depot store with the plugs all in them, the electrician said he could not wire them and it was illegal. But in retrospect I think he could have put an electrical outlet in the place where I had a light fixture. That is what had envisioned in the first place, so you could do something like that. But he replaced the broken light fixture that was there and left. So all I got was about five minutes worth of work and a new electrical fixture which wasn't the right kind.

I worked with Sean who called a half hour before he arrived and was exactly on-time. Within the first couple minutes of me explaining the symptoms he had diagnosed the cause of the problem. By using the age of the house and knowledge of common practices of electricians over the years, he essentially knew what was going on just based on which outlets were dead. He explained the problem and solution to me and resolved it once I understood the work. I also mentioned that I had an exterior light that had been spotty since I had new siding put on my house. In less time than I spent explaining it, he had the light off and the issue fixed and also caught me up to speed on what the siding contractor had done that caused the issue. I also asked for an estimate to replace the outlets on my upper floor, since he had found that a number of my outlets/switches weren't grounded and he gave that on the spot. As a whole, I couldn't have asked for better service, both from a technical and professional perspective. Sean was quick and accurate with finding the problems and kept me in the loop throughout the process with each issue I mentioned. It was a pleasure working with him and I am thrilled to have outdoor outlets again!

Excellent. Sean B. from Randy's Electric was to my place in November 2013 to investigate a non-functioning wall outlet (interior). He fixed that, and also gave me an estimate on electrical work I asked about having done in the future. Now, June 2014, was the time to do that. So I requested that Sean be the person to do the work. He showed up promptly, looked over everything to be done, stayed with the price quoted in November except for two additional items I requested that morning and the prices were very decent. He got right to work -- took him the entire day. When finished he went over everything with me, explaining and showing me what he'd done. I really like his work ethic -- he just sticks at the job until done. And he was very attentive to the aesthetics of placing the exterior outlets, making sure they were as non-noticeable as possible. The office folk from Randy's Electric have always been excellent to deal with as well, in terms of setting up appointments and - now - in setting up a visit from the inspector for the work done. Sean cleaned up after himself -- everything was left nice and tidy. Definitely pleased with the service from Randy's and will definitely recommend to others and use them again myself when the need arises. I also had an Angie's List coupon that cost $89 for $200 of electrical work, so that was deducted from the total amount due, leaving me $1309 to pay. Really a good feeling to have work as important as my home's electrical work to be done by those who know what they are doing!
Description of Work: Installed a 60-amp sub panel, 3 exterior outlets, a couple of other smaller items that needed some attention.

The electrician who arrived at my home was courteous, punctual, and extremely professional. He called 15 prior to the time window agreed upon to tell me where he was and his estimated time of arrival. . Dale provided a full estimate before starting any work. Once we agreed on the work and estimate he completed everything. He was also very personable and an all around stand up guy. I was a little apprehensive after reading a couple less than favorable reviews about pricing but in my case the price was right in line with what I was expecting. I have no complaints whatsoever about the company or the electrician who came to my home. I'll definitely call Randy's Electric for any future electrical needs.

Everything went well. The contractor was very professional and made suggestions regarding the placement of the lights relative to the new mirrors. I did thinki that they were rather pricey, but have not had any electrical work done in some time and this may be the going rate. None of the providers we contacted provided free estimates without a trip charge, so we just hired Randy's based on the reviews on Angie's list.

I called Randy's on a Saturday morning because I had (brilliantly) flooded an electrical outlet with water the night before which resulted in a short in three outlets in my kitchen. I made the call about 9:30am and Brent was at my door before 11:00am. He checked everything out and replaced the three outlets quickly. And he didn't make fun of me for the stupid thing I'd done to flood the outlets in the first place. :) I've had work done by Randy's (specifically Brent) before and have been impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness. In addition to the work he came out to do, he provided a list of things I might want to think about upgrading in the future. And he did that in a low-sales-pressure way. I didn't feel like I was in a position to have to do a lot of extra work, but as someone who knows only a little about electrical systems, it's nice to know what to plan for. I will definitely call Randy's again for any electrical work I need done!!

I asked for an initial estimate. That went excellent. I asked for the same person to come back to do the work but that did not happen. I was concerned because the new guy had to spend time to reassess the situation so I called my concern to the office. They apologized and credited me the time. The job was expertly done and all is well. I would have them come again.

The cost was fairly close to what I expected. The rewire job was a little tricky, but it was worth it; There is now better exterior light coverage and is visually much more appealing than the old flood light which was replaced. The electrician was competent and he did take the time to talk things over before the work proceeded. Also, he did ensure that the motion controls were adjusted properly. I did state that the work was completed. I have no doubt that an electrician will come out to install the last fixture. Everything is working like a top. I will likely use Randy's Electric for the next phase of the electrical project at home.

Dave M. did the work for us at Randy's Electric! He was the best! He was punctual, polite, and quick! We had had a light switch installed by Randy's Electric last summer and it recently became unresponsive to shutting off the lights. Dave M. came out to our home and repaired it quickly at no charge. He was even polite about needing to move our huge christmas tree out of the way to get to our fuse box. After that, we asked him if he'd look at our outdoor garage lights and give us his opinion. We've lived in our home for a little over a year and have not been able to figure out how to turn on the outside garage lights! It's a very old home with a lot of quirks. A previous electrician had been to our home and told us that the outside garage lights needed to be rewired and it could possibly cost a few thousand dollars! Dave looked at it for 5 minutes and had it working!!!! There was an unused switch in our kitchen that turned on the outside lights and with some configuring from Dave he had them working! Amazing! Since Dave was already at our house to repair a previous job, he said he would waive the diagnostic fee for our garage! Wow! What service!! We will always call Randy's Electric and request Dave for future electrical work.

First the electrician had the wrong address. Turns out they took my address from Angie's list instead of from me. (Is our personal info shared on Angie's List??) So he showed up at the house we were moving out of to install a bath fan. He made it to the new location and started to discuss the installation of the bath fan but wouldn't just give me a total price for the job before starting. He kept referring to his clipboard and wanted to show me the list of prices. All I wanted was a total price - I was in the process of movers delivering furniture and keeping the electrician out of the way. (His going to the wrong destination initially put everything behind schedule). Finally we went up to the bathroom and I showed him exactly what I wanted done.He said they needed to bring in scaffolding and he would need to cut 3 holes in the plaster walls and ceiling to run an electrical line. He said the holes would be 3" in diameter each! YIKES!! I told him he could just pull from the line that was there and the attic was just above us with the access panel in the hall outside the bathroom. In frustration I asked again, "how much?". He stated "around $2000.00". Gulp........... I asked if he was kidding me. He stated that the scaffolding wasn't cheap (still not entirely certain what the scaffolding was needed for). He asked what I thought it would cost. I told him I thought it was a straight forward installation and that it couldn't possible cost that much! I marched him downstairs and asked if he could change out the lights and install the pendant chandelier instead. He said he could provided there was a box in the ceiling. I asked how much. He quoted me $330 after a lengthy review of hi clipboard and listing of prices. Since I had already paid for $200 worth of services I owed him $130. He quickly got the lights installed/changed and he was on his way. He was a very nice, polite person but his cost estimates were way too expensive for me to even consider using the service again.

The final cost was higher than expected, but everything turned out well for the most part. The gentleman and his apprentice arrived on time, it was easy to schedule the job, and they did good work on all of the projects. They also guaranteed their work and were able to correct an issue caused by another service provider which was a plus. I just wish the cost would have been lower in the end.

Response from Randy's Electric
Thank you for the feedback. At the time the electrician left your home, everything was checked and working. This was validated on the second trip to your home. Returning to your home a 3rd time may result in an additional charge - if the findings were confirmed to be the result of some additional work you were having others do in your home at the same time. Thank you.

Dave was knowledgeable and willing to do the work. There is no doubt in my mind that the work was done properly. However, i do not like Randy's business model. they sell an offer of $99 for $200 in electrical work, and then Dave started to sell me the fixes to what I had asked him to investigate. They pride themselves on saying we "do not work by the hour," but i would rather pay by the hours than be constantly sold on what i should do in my house.. Again, the work quality is not an issue, but the business is. Dave was clearly selling and not happy i was not buying.
