Very poor communication...actually, no communication despite calling 5 times and sending them emails regarding a error on their end. We are no longer a client and never will be a client.

I've been paying for the "premium" lawn care package for the better part of a year. Found they were charging me premium but not only giving me the standard service so my lawn wasn't properly fertilized, etc. Talked the owners, got the mix up fixed going forward and got the Fall clean-ups scheduled, etc. However, no one has came to do any of the fall clean-ups and now in the middle of November with snow burying the leaves, the are not coming out for the rest of the season even though all of this work was pre-paid. This whole situation is thoroughly unacceptable especially for the rates charged. Now I just have to hope it thaws so I can do it this weekend.

Easily one of the best prices for the services in the area. Clear communication from the office in the event of schedule changes.

Avoid this company at all cost. I Contracted with Matt and Urban Landworks in July of 2016 to sod our entire yard. My wife and I emphasized several times to Matt and company that we needed our back yard graded properly since we wanted to avoid any water issues. Dirt was brought in and the yard was graded near the end of the week. The sod however was not put in until the following week. Over the weekend heavy rains occurred which no doubt affected the grading. The yard was never regraded. Sod was installed the following week and I paid Matt in full (my mistake). Shortly after the work was completed we noticed flooding issues in our back yard anytime we had rain (which we did not have before). In general, the sod that was put down seemed to be very thin and we soon began noticing bare spots in our new yard. I Immediately contacted Matt and asked him to stop out to address the issues. He was at a conference out of state and assured me he would stop by once back in town. That never happened and I had to contact Matt again. Matt finally did come by in late September. We walked the yard and I expressed my concern with the quality of the sod as well as the flooding issues in the back yard. Matt assured me the yard would come around and added that the flooding was due to an abnormal amount of rain late last year (fall of 2016). It was late in the year so I agreed to wait until spring to address the yard issues (my second mistake). In April of 2017, as soon as the snow cleared and the rain came, our back yard experienced heavy flooding in all areas of the yard. I took several pictures and emailed the pictures to Matt imploring him to stop out ASAP to address the issues. I never received any response from Matt. I contacted Matt today (05/24/17) via phone and asked him to stop out to address the flooding issues. I made it clear the yard was not graded properly and it needed to be re-done. At this point I was willing to overlook the overall shoddy quality of the sod hoping I could at least get our flooding issues resolved. Almost immediately Matt took an obstinate tone with me. When I mentioned the pictures of our flooded yard I had sent to him via email he mentioned he had viewed them. Obviously, he was not concerned enough to contact me to address the issue. After several minutes of asking Matt to stop out and resolve the flooding issues it became apparent Matt was unwilling to help in any way. Matt went so far as to tell me that my yard has a berm in it and that flooding was to be expected. Funny that was never mentioned at the time he was procuring my business and ultimately my money. I’m now left with an unusable back yard with much of the sod ruined from being underwater for prolonged periods of time. I’ve had to purchase a sump pump to clear the pooling water in out yard. I will now need to contract with another company to regrade and re-sod the yard I have already paid for once. I can’t express my dissatisfaction with Matt and Urban Landworks any stronger. I hope this review will help you avoid this company and the problems you may incur should you choose to use them. I have attached a picture of our yard and the flooding issues to emphasize the reason for my dissatisfaction.

"[Member Name Removed] Sorry for the frustration but we did not build those Burms around your yard that are holding the water in. We simply removed your old turf and installed new sod. We did fill in some small holes for you. Maybe some drainage pipes under those burms will help, just a thought."

After not hearing from them, and after several phone calls to see when they would be installing the sump pump basin and pipe, without returning my calls, they just showed up to do the job.  That was fine and everything appeared ok until my son noticed water spraying all over the side of our house where they added pipe to the existing sump pump discharge pipe.  It turns out they cracked the interior pipe, and I had water running all down the inside of my wall and into my insulation.  Hired a plumber to do an emergency fix of the pipe and tore off all the insulation which then needed to be replaced.  Later on noticed my sump pump running continuously but thought it was just because of spring melting.  When I noticed water running out of my wall close to the sump pump pipe, I tore off more insulation and noticed a crack in my foundation right behind where they installed the sump pump discharge basin outside the home.  I disassembled and removed the top of the basin, to find they had installed a basin in the ground that didn't have just one opening in it that led to the pipe feeding away from the house, but it had 2, another one on the other side of the basin.  That was just stupid design but what made it completely irresponsible on their part was the fact that the plug that should have been put in the other hole was never installed, so all the water entering the basin from the sump pump drain was draining out the unplugged hole (which of course happened to be at the lowest level of the basin) and flowing down my exterior foundation, which led to the large crack.  I phoned Matt several times and left messages explaining that I needed him to come out to the house and replace the basin and talk about a remedy before I would have him finish the landscaping I had planned to have done in the spring.  At that point I was understanding and still willing to possibly have them complete the landscaping job.  He of course never returned my phone calls.  I have been contemplating a lawsuit in small claims for the roughly $500 it cost me to have the foundation crack fixed and sealed, and the sump pump pipe fixed.  Found a different landscaper to finish the spring landscaping who did a great job at less cost than I was bid by Urban Landworks

"(Member name removed) here is your work description: Project Description: Install drain box and tile to relocate water from sump to drainage area discussed. I took that off your invoice description: i am confused on foundation damage? We dug a piece of drain tile in the yard and attached a drainage box up by the house. you showed us where you wanted the box installed. As for the pricing not all companies have the same rates. We pride ourselves by bidding all projects and being right in the middle."

This is in addition to the review I submitted earlier. Still not resolved. Seed did not take and the dirt they delivered was full of rocks. Also, as they delivered the dirt, their truck tires broke my cement pad. Never fixed. Concrete company estimated the repair cost to be $1500.

We had some bushes pulled and they were difficult, and they put in new bushes and everything went well. We wouldn't replace them with anybody else. The staff that came out were very good. The price was also what we expected.

By spring 2012, the sod didn't come up green. It was yellow and looked sick. Matt Jensen looked at it and said it was grubs that did the damage. He sprinkled some pesticide on it.... By spring 2013, the sod looked worse and there were many bare spots. This time when Matt looked at it, he told me that the sod firm had provided this sod grub-infested and that he had other customers with the same sod problems. He was going to see if the supplier would rectify the problem. Now it is summer 2013 and after a long silence on Matt's part communications resumed: I wanted to know what he was going to do about the sod. He offered to install new sod... at my expense! Neither he nor the sod supplier offered to resolve this issue. I believe Matt sold me a defect product and should be held responsible for fixing my yard.

After posting this review, Matt Jensen agreed to restore my yard by seeding new grass. I appreciate that!

They do a great job cleaning up. They're very responsive and they have done both trips each year. No complaints at all.

I came to know of him through our local newspaper. He is responsive and does a good job. He charges $30 for lawn work and $30 for snow plowing.
