I accepted the Galaxie proposal over competitors bids based on their reviews and a past positive experience that I had with them. I trusted this job would go as smoothly as the previous flooring job. I made the down payment on June 18 and did the preparation work as required (including disconnection of my gas stove) prior to the scheduled work date on July 23. I received emails from Galaxie and they answered any questions I had about the preparation work needed. The installer arrived on time on the scheduled installation on July 23. He spent considerable time looking at my kitchen and entry area before "bursting my bubble" that he was NOT ABLE to perform the work as written on that proposal that scheduled to begin. He required additional preparation services, including an abatement test before he would do anything. Even the flooring I selected was described as problematic for my particular kitchen job. I had not been advised to restrict my flooring product choice at any time. In fact, when I was choosing the flooring product in the Galaxie store, the salesman (the same person who wrote the bid) told me that I had made an excellent choice. The installer, however, said that selected flooring was too thick and would cause issues unless the flooring was taken out down to the sub flooring - which was not included in the proposal. My opinion is that the installer was very professional, knowledgeable and thorough in his explanations. I applaud his integrity but wish his knowledge had been considered in the bid UPFRONT. All this "additional services" work would have caused a delay for the flooring, considerable more cost and I would have been without a stove for who knows how long. Selection of a new flooring product and waiting for its delivery would have also caused delay. I had scheduled a new stove delivery 3 days after this scheduled job was supposed to be done. It was an impasse. The installer wasn't going to do the job as scheduled without proposal revisions and asbestos testing, possibly abatement. I was not doing to accept a delay for additional preparation services when my old stove was disconnected on July 20 for the new flooring install. There was no choice other than to cancel the flooring installation on the same day it was expected to start. Galaxie is refunding my down payment in an effort to "make things right". I was told by Galaxie, "This has never happened before." Fair enough. I was very disappointed by this experience. Competitor bids were very similar to Galaxie's and I don't know if one of them might have done the job on time and without all the stress that I went through with Galaxie. Epilog: The new stove was delivered & installed on 7/26 as planned but it sits on the old flooring. The old flooring may stay forever. It's self-stick square tiles that Menards sell for 31 cents a piece. ;)

I was upset that I was not told that there might be lippage with the 12x24 tiles - unevenness so that shadows are cast on adjoining tiles. After checking online, found that this could have been minimized by the installer. It doesn't affect the functionality but was totally unexpected and is noticeable when the lights are on in the bathroom. Spoke with the head of the Bloomington location but wasn't satisfied with his responses. The tile installer claimed it was because of uneven walls but they totally rebuilt the wall and it is individual tiles which stick out from the adjacent ones. The manager did admit that it could have been done better. Not sure I would hire again unless with different installer.

The cabinets, counter tops, flooring, custom desk, and backsplash were all completed on time and were done in a very professional manner. I am completely satisfied with the results. Lindsay was a pleasure to work with and was very responsive to questions.

In some areas, the installed laminate floor was about 1/2 inch lower than the original carpet and pad. This resulted in baseboards, vertical door frame pieces, and 2 door thresholds ending 1/2 inch above laminate in those areas. I emailed Rick that night. Rick and the installer came out first thing the next morning and came up with some creative ways to correct the problem. The 2 door thresholds are still 1/2 inch higher than they originally were, but we expect/hope we'll get used to that. We were very pleased with out quickly Rick responded to the problem.

Very pleased. Taking tile out went well. Install very smooth. Installers were clean and professional. They worked short days but did very good work.

When they installed the carper, we ended up with scratched on newly refinished hardwood floors. They handled it well No one knows how the scratchs got there. I notified them immediately. We ended up withholding $400 of the bill to offset the cost to get the floors fixed.

A job well done

Very impressed. We highly recommend Galaxie ! Denise helped us coordinate everything and we have gotten so many compliments on our kitchen thanks to her. Tim's years of experience really helped us make decisions and go forward. Scott did a great job on our backsplash, and Matt did a beautiful job on our floor. We had 2 other estimates and no one could beat the price or the helpful ideas that Tim had for us.

There was a delay on the install date, due to error on order. But the installer was on time and did a good job.

There were communications difficulties right away. I noticed one of the planks had drifted out of position within the first week and let Bloomington C&F know–it took several weeks for a different installer to come back and fix that plank. Two years after installation, two large splits (1/8"+) emerged between the plank seams, and both splits run the full length of the room. The splits ruin the floor's appearance and are difficult to clean. The planks looked great before the splits started, the insulation padding keeps the floor from being too cold, but overall we've been very disappointed in the installation and how it didn't hold up over time.

Lindsey sold me top quality Bertch cabinets. Pricing was excellent based on competing quotes for another brand they sell. Excellent, consummate professional installation. Even though I did not purchase countertops from them, they arranged plumbing service at a lower negotiated rate. Top notch design, sales, service.

Terrific. Galaxy gave us a very fair price for a Karastan wool carpet, and the installation crew did a terrific job. Took time to remove the old carpet, swept the floor thoroughly and then carefully laid the new carpet to conceal the seams. You've got to look very closely to notice where any of the seams are. Would highly recommend.

Came out and took measurements and gave quote. Very competitive rate. Setup a date and showed up on time and done in 4 hours. Overall the job was done very well. Few minor issues that were handled professionally by Leah. She was a fantastic sales person that gave you options and detailed explanations. I wouldn't hesitate on hiring this company again.

The installation went really well.The carpet looks beautiful!

They said that I had a floating floor and when I checked with another company they told me that they would have to raise my floor to make it level.  The other company that I called were the same price.  I didn't know if they wanted to do the extra work.  I got a second opinion before I even got it done.  There were no additional charges over the $49 for the consultation.

We met with them both at our home and at their location. I think we considered every option possible. Ended up not hiring them to do the actual work other than the consulting we paid for. Was worth the money.

Overall it went well.  We decided to go with this company because Tim, the manager, was so willing to work with us on staying within our budget.

I had very good experiences with the project manager at the store, but I did not care for the painting contractors they recommended to me, nor did I care for the contractor they chose to use for the flooring installation.  The painting contractors did a very minimal effort-type job, missing spots on the walls and for some reason, took down the curtains in the living room where they weren't even painting, then lost them.  I could go on and on about the crappy job these guys did, but it wasn't the Flooring store's fault.  The contractor they hired for the flooring was late in getting to the house, very rude, and didn't complete the job as quoted.  He had to return a second time and replace the flooring trim, and in the process, chipped the brand new paint on the cupboards.  I was refunded a partial amount for this, but I asked that this contractor never be placed in my home again.

Estimate and initial introduction was prompt and friendly. We did encounter some flawed communication regarding scheduling. the installer appeared at my door on a Monday AM without any notice from the scheduler. This slip needs to be addressed. However, Scott, my installer was wonderful. Knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and efficient. He was so helpful with moving things due to lack of notice. I highly recommend him for any tiling you may have.
