Nearly everything about Wright-At-Home's operation exudes professionalism, good management, and an apparent interest in doing quality work. The sales representative was organized, knowledgeable, responsive to questions and special requirements, provided requested documentation, sales and supplier literature and samples, and was generally thorough. He was not pushy. (The bid did arrive about a week later than originally promised, although that was not a complete surprise.) The contractor did seem to have a greater interest in installing vinyl siding than metal, but was willing to quote on steel siding and provide samples for that alternative. The sales rep was also willing to incorporate special requirements (custom-formed wrapping for window arches at the mansard roof line) when at least one other contractor was not. The bid came with an exceptional 10-year warranty on labor. Pricing for the siding parts of the work (we also had them quote on roof replacement) was somewhat higher than in competing bids, which may have been reasonable in view of the labor warranty. (We judged the materials to be at par with what other contractors proposed using.) Ultimately, we decided to use another contractor due to cost factors and our repair budget.
Description of Work: We requested a bid from this contractor to replace hail-damaged metal siding, soffits, fascia, etc. No actual services were performed, as another contractor was more in line with our budget.

The sales representative was organized, knowledgeable, and responsive to questions and special requirements. He supplied roofing(and siding)samples on request. He conveyed the impression that the contractor was very concerned with providing a quality job. The bid was exceptionally complete, offered a 10-year warranty on labor, and thoroughly provided for contractual contingencies. It did, however, arrive about a week after the originally-projected date; we were in contact with the sales rep in the meantime, so that did not completely surprise us. The bid pricing was on the high side for our budget though, so we decided to go with another contractor.
Description of Work: No actual services were performed. We requested a bid for roof replacement due to hail damage.

After hail damage, they came in and took care of everything. I was one of the first in my neighborhood to get my roof done. They brought the dumpster in the night before, did the roofing and had the dumpster hauled away the next day. They came back a few days later and did the siding and then a few days later I had new gutters. They cleaned up well and worked with the city inspectors well. Any issues that arose during the process, they were right there to take care of it.
Description of Work: I had hail damage and they did a full tear-off and replaced the roof. They also did some siding on the back of the house. They also installed gutters all around the house.

It was great. The contact person came out, went over the details and had a crew come out. They were very good about cleaning up after themselves. The roof was difficult for them, but they did a really great job.

I called the office in the morning and was able to have a sales rep out within an hour and a half (they were working in the area on other homes damaged in the May 31st hailstorm). Dan was professional and informative. I received the estimate by email about 1 hour later. The estimate was nicely itemized but I would have liked specific information like which shingle series the estimate was based on so I could have looked it up online.
Description of Work: I feel that Wright-At-Home would have been a good company to work with but I chose another highly rated Angie's List company that came in with a bid that was 13% lower with a slightly better shingle. I would call them for estimates in the future based on my experience with their office and sales rep.

They didn't really do anything. They were honest about the fact that they didn't want to do the work. They did not provide an estimate they just checked out the area. It was a bit unusual I thought.

THIS ROOF WAS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF WORK THAT WE PERFORM. IT HAD A PORCH THAT WAS IN NEED OF SOME CARPENTRY TO GET IT WORTHY OF A NEW ROOF. WE WENT TO THIS HOME TWICE TO DO A ESTIMATE, THE FIRST TIME WE COULD NOT GET ON THE ROOF DUE TO "BEWARE OF DOG" COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS NO DOG. ONCE WE RETURNED FOR THE SECOND TIME IT WAS VERY APPARENT THIS ROOF HAD ISSUES BEYOND JUST A NEW ROOF AND OR REPAIR. WE DECLINED TO DO THE WORK. I GUESS HONESTLY ISN'T ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY...

Everything went pretty well. I was pleased with their work. We had a leak around our chimney afterwards, which caused some damage to our ceiling, and they followed up and repaired the leak as well as providing material to fix the ceiling in addition to a several hundred dollars back. They gave us an estimate for the labor only, which was a slightly unusual situation for them, and they did what they said they would do and got it done quickly.
Description of Work: They performed a complete tear-off of our cedar shake roof, and replaced it with an architectural shingle roof, using materials that I provided.

I thought it was a good experience. I can't really speak to their price compared to others because they just went by the insurance write up. They did give me a free upgrade to architectural shingles, and those look quite nice. After seeing some of my neighbor's have their roofs take two days to do, I was even more impressed by the quality and efficiency of the crew.
Description of Work: I suffered recent hail damage. Bob came out and inspected the roof and compared his findings to the insurance adjuster's. The adjuster had missed ice-and-water shielding which is required by code, as well as the damage to the skylights. Bob worked with the adjuster to get supplements for the additional necessary repairs Once that was completed, he was able to schedule the repair for just a week out. On the day of the repair, the crew showed up promptly and got right to work. They moved my planters and patio furniture out of harm's way, put tarps down to protect the deck and hedges, and got right to work. It took them just 4.5 hours to redo the entire roof! I was amazed! After they were finished, the debris went into a dumpster and a few of the crew walked the yard, looking for nails, etc. that were missed. They also used a leaf blower to blow the dust off the deck. After the final cleanup, they were gone, and the only evidence that they had ever been there was my brand new roof. They also took care of the permit and left the pictures for the inspector. All I had to do was call the city up and have the inspector stop by to take a look.

I called Wright at Home and left a message. Within the day, I got a return call and, after discussing my options, Roxanne sent her husband out my way on HIS way home from work to inspect my roof. The next day she called to tell me he found nothing and that everything looked very good (the roof is only 6 years old). I was very relieved and, after further research, discovered my removable shower head attachment was leaking such a fine spray, it must have taken a long time to stain my ceiling. I replaced the shower head, shot the ceiling with bleach water spray and everything is once more in ship-shape! I'm grateful to Wright at Home for their forthrightness and honesty in telling me my roof was fine. Saved me time and worry.
Description of Work: After the last storm, I noticed my bathroom ceiling coincidentally had developed a water spot, so thinking it might be related, I wanted to have my roof inspected to determine if damage had been done.

I never heard back from them, but I know they are really busy. They have good reviews, but I decided to go with someone who was more responsive and who would get the work done more quickly.
Description of Work: I contacted them, and they were scheduled to come and give me an estimate. It rained so we had to reschedule. They were supposed to come the next day, but I wasn't home, so I don't know if they ever came. Then I waited a few days to see if they had an estimate ready, and they said they would have one later that day. That was a week ago, and I never heard back from them.

THIS WAS AN INSURANCE JOB. THE MEMBER FAXED OVER TO MIKE HER PAPERWORK RELATING TO THE JOB. MIKE HAD LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE ADJUSTER TO EXPLAIN THE DISCREPANCIES IN THE TWO ADJUSTMENTS. MIKE LEFT THE MEMBER A MESSAGE THAT HE WAS WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM THE ADJUSTER. APPARENTLY THE MEMBER NEVER RECEIVED THE MESSAGE. IT IS UNFORTUNATE WHEN THESE TYPES OF THINGS HAPPEN. I ONLY WISH THE MEMBER WOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE OFFICE TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION INSTEAD OF GIVING US A "D" RATING. HOPEFULLY OTHER MEMBERS WILL READ ON TO BASE THEIR OPINION ABOUT OUR TRUE SERVICE. WE TAKE THESE TYPES OF REPORTS VERY SERIOUSLY AND WE WOULD HAVE REACTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE MEMBERS NEEDS. I DID CALL THE MEMBER TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISCOMMUNICATION.

Wright-At-Home was recommended by a neighbor who had them estimate hail damage for his roof, and asked them to give an estimate for my father s roof as well. Neighbor was impressed by Bob who showed up right on time for the appointment, and Roxanne was quick to return my calls and answer questions. We had made plans from out of town to spend 2 weeks fixing up the house -- new roof and gutters were the last work to be added to the list, and Wright-At-Home was able to accommodate our tight schedule on short notice. They worked with the insurance adjuster to cover the cost, left tile samples for our Realtor, and were able to match gutters and downspouts to trim and house color almost exactly. Roofers were able to start a day early gutters were running one day late. In both cases Roxanne called the day before to be sure it was not a problem and with many other contractors scheduled at the same time, the schedule changes actually worked to our advantage. Workers were courteous and did a wonderful and careful job picking up every day when done. We are extremely pleased with the hard work and quality of both the roof and gutters.

Bob Wright was very informative when presenting the roofing options to me and explained how different options would perform on my roof which has a very low pitch (3/12). They were able to schedule me within two weeks once I was ready with some other work that needed to be completed before I was ready for the roof. The crew was very efficient and professional. The roof looks great!!

Overall, I am very pleased by the quality of their work. They did a wonderful job and both the roof and the siding look fantastic. They also worked tirelessly; the crew of eight who came out to do my roof worked about ten hours and finished the entire roof in a single day. The guy who did the siding worked 12 hours in two consecutive days to get things done quickly. The two managers I worked with - Dan Peterson and Nick Wright - were very friendly and patiently spent a lot of time explaining things to me. They were very professional, and I never felt rushed to make a decision. When it was discovered that the previous owners left huge gaps in the decking (and thus needed to be replaced), they only added the cost of the materials and labor to the estimate, which I was pleased by. Furthermore, when it turned out that they only used 2/3rds of the decking that they thought would be needed, the lowered the charge to match the cost. Very honest people. My only complaint with Wright-at-Home is with their delivery company. They were *dreadful*. They were supposed to put the roofing materials on the driveway in the back of the house. Instead, they plopped great big pallets on my front lawn - which didn't do it any favors. What's worse, they almost crushed our new tree in the front yard - twice! I ran out just in time - the delivery guy was inches away from dropping a pallet right on top of the tree. And although the roofing materials arrived quickly (and my roof was done within a week of the estimate), it took about three weeks for the siding material to arrive. It wasn't a huge deal - the roof was an emergency; the siding wasn't - but it still took far longer than its should have. When I complained, Roxanne (the office manager) promised that they would take care of these issues for the future. Despite the problems with delivery, I would still recommend Wright-at-Home. The price was excellent, the service was top-notch, and the work was done quickly. Can't ask for much more than that!
Description of Work: The previous owners did the roofing and the siding of the front porch by themselves, they did such a poor job that the roof needed to be replaced after nine years, and the masonite exterior was turning to mush. Here's what Wright-at-Home did: Roof work: remove and replace defective shingles with architectural shingles, new decking, install weatherproofing underlayment, install leak barrier against the: eaves, vent pipes, crickets, dormer walls, chimney, valleys, and roof to wall connections. Also install new cricket to protect chimney, replace defective flashing, and replace improperly located venting. Siding work: remove masonite exterior, and replace with duraplank tall vinyl siding as well as install weatherproofing.

After our insurance company agreed we needed a new roof (hail storm 5/31/08), we researched Angie's List and selected 3 to contact. Mike Mark was scheduled to come at 5:30pm, and arrived a half-hour early since he was in the neighborhood. I was home, so it was fine! I provided a copy of the insurance company's estimate. Mike did NOT climb on to the roof, but just surveyed from the ground. I thought that was very strange (it's only a one-story ranch house!). Mike wrote up a proposal, including an option to put on gutter covers at my request. He gave an option for a shingle upgrade for more money, and then verbally said they would do it for the same price as the existing shingle-type (but did not write that down). The overall price, including the gutter cover option, was more expensive than the firm we ultimately selected. We did NOT select Wright-At Home to do the actual work primarily due to the exceptional meeting we had with another firm (we'll write up that report after they complete their work) in which several suggestions about venting were made. Mike could not have known about these issues because he never went on the roof. But Mike was certainly professional and we assume Wright-At Home could have done a good job.
Description of Work: Mike Mark came to our home to give proposal on roof replacement after significant hail damage. Wright-At-Home was one of 3 Angie's List companies we contacted for proposals. Mike looked at the roof from the ground, but never climbed up to inspect it. He then gave a written proposal, including (at my request) an option for gutter covers.

Wonderful!!! Everyone is very pleasant and efficient at what they do. Bob the owner came out everyday to check how everything was going and addressed any issues that came up with a smile. There was a job superintendant at my home everyday to make sure everything was going as expected. Roxanne has been a joy to work with as she has completely dealt with our mortgage company so we didn't need to get involved. Everyone that works for this company is efficient, professional, polite and accurate. We will definitely hire them again if needed. They completed all of our recent storm work and were cleaned up and moved on within 4 business days. Everything looks great and I can be hard to please.
Description of Work: They completely tore off and replaced my whole roof, replaced approximately 50% of our siding, 10% of our fascia and all of our gutters, downspouts and gutter guards.

The company was great to work with! They got us an estimate soon after we called, and we were able to schedule the work well within our time frame. They were actually able to squeeze us in before we were scheduled. The dumpster was dropped off on day one, the work was done on day two and the dumpster removed on day three; doesn't get much better than that! They did a great job and left the inspection documentation for the city. They did a great job of cleaning up and picking up old nails. The gutters were installed a few days later and that subcontractor also did a great job, arriving on schedule and completing the work in a professional way in one day. Dan, the sales manager, returned after the work was done to inspect the job and make sure we were happy. Roxanne, the office manager does a great job of keeping in touch with customers and making sure things are going right. Great job, great service, great company, all consistent with Angie's current information.

They were wonderful. They came and made an estimate. They showed up when they were supposed to. They got the job done on time. It was with in the estimated amount. We did it in two different contracts. They did n\both of them perfect. They cleaned up the mess like you wouldn't believe. We used them for the main part of the house first, Then decided to hire them back for the roof over the garage too. They were very professional. Several weeks later we got some water in the house, The owner came over and found out that we had a plumbing problem. He tested the roof every way possible and found the problem in our plumbing. He did not charge anything extra for coming and finding the problem, even though it was not in his field.

Overall it went OK, they even did some things that showed they wanted to go out of the way to help (a piece of wood broke off and they replaced it for no extra charge). Roxanne had a little difficulty getting paid at first because she had trouble filling in the paperwork to start charging with my credit card, but she got that figured out. A concern I usually have about roofing contractors: This is not the practice of Wright-at-Home, but it is the practice of other roofing companies in the Twin Cities. Most of the roofing is done by immigrants. My concern is that they may be undocumented workers and therefore unable to collect social security later in life for the labor they performed. It now seems to be the practice in the United States and in the last 7 years or so in the Twin Cities to use undocumented laborers. I don't mind them getting a job; I do mind them not getting an equal wage and social security benefits. I must wonder if there is a moral way our roofing companies can work to get these people green carded so that they can move into the mainstream of society, I have students who have families that might have members here in that situation and I understand their social plight, but this does lower the prevailing wage for all laborers. I would be willing to pay a higher price if I knew everybody could get their benefits later on in life when they too need them. We will pay for them now or at the hospital and other places later if we don't obey the laws set up to cover all laborers. To me if I could walk out and ask to see a laborers green card and he displayed it, I would consider that an automatic 10% bonus to the company for obeying the law of the land. Congratulations to Wright At Home for covering all laborers legally. I held off on posting this because I noticed our shingles didn't lay real flat, but they seemed to hold up the severe wind we had in early June so they seem to work out just fine. Later I found that it was specific brand of roofing tile used that is a better quality, it appears this roofing tile does not lay flat like other roofing tile, but rather, sticks out more like shakes. When I called Roxanne, the contact person she said that this is exceptional roofing material. I tend to believe her because she seems to be a trustworthy person and they have one of the highest ratings on Angie's List. We had hail damage this summer on our siding and I plan to use them if everything works out OK for them to do the repair work. Twin Cities contractors, if you work like Wright-At-Home Services who hire only documented workers, and/or help the ones you are hiring get documented and advertise that you do so, it would benefit the whole community. You would distinguish yourselves as a cut above the rest in that way as well. Angie's list people tend to be socially conscious and they are a prime target. I looks to me that Wright-At-Home Services understands that and is willing to work to cover both their laborers and their customers.

I was generally happy with the work completed by Wright At Home when the replaced our roof due to hail damage. Roxanne and the staff were always very responsive and knowledgeable, and the work was scheduled quickly and performed as scheduled. I thought the crew would fix a few loose pieces of siding, but this work was not completed. The bill contained a few errors, but was quickly corrected following my phone call about this. This spring, when I was cleaning out my gardens, I found probably a hundred nails that had fallen into the rock around our house, there were multiple nails around most plants. This is very concerning since I have two young kids that run around with their friends barefoot in the yard all summer. I don't know how many nails remain that I couldn't see as I did my cleanup, either in the rock or in the grass. In last week's windstorm, a piece of fascia blew off by the roof of our house. I called Roxanne about it this morning and she was going to send someone out today. However, as we talked, she helped to identify the problem as fascia (not flashing, as I thought) and this was not part of the work they completed. She was helpful in offering suggestions on who I might call to get this fixed. I appreciate her always prompt and knowledgeable response.
Description of Work: Replaced the roof on our house due to hail damage.

I selected this company from Angie's List. I also asked for three recent referrals which were provided and checked. Then I signed the contract with work beginning within the week. Work on roofs began at 7:30 and was done by 2:00. Looks very good and the clean-up job was also good. A dumpster was on site prior to the job and remained on site until the gutters were done two days later. The gutters matched the trim perfectly. Overall, the company delivered as promised and did the job within a week of my signing the contract. I recommend this company to anyone who wants a professional job.
Description of Work: Company replaced roof on house and shed. This included valleys, flashing, vent covers, stacks, and two additional vents as required by law. They also subcontracted to replace gutters on front and one side of house.
