Appointments were on time. The exact trim was no longer available, but they found the original maker and got the Sherwin Williams paint code so I can get it to match when it warms up. Completed the work right in the middle of the coldest part of February!

It was a very busy time of the year and we were not in a rush. We loved the ideas and she seemed to really understand what I liked. When we picked up the design, someone also walked us around to see every plant or stone that was in the plan. They were very flexible and suggested areas to save money, and were willing to work with us in any way. We are planning on using this company for the installation as well.

Project went extremely well.  A little over a week, start to finish.  I was impressed with the fact that they were going to build using 2x12's versus others that proposed 2x10's.  They provided a heavier structure and five foot wide stairway for the same price as the other estimates I received.  Their attention to detail is second to none.
Extremely happy with the final product!!!

Bob,
Came out and gave us an estimate on a 10and quot;x12and quot; cedar deck.
We ran into some rot behind the siding and Bob replaced that as well and
did a great job.
He was very professional and the deck is fabulous.
We have since used him on replacing our mad door on the garage and will
work with Bob to get others things done on our house.
He's great

They did a good work and the price they charge was reasonable. It was to my satisfaction, it was kind of what I expected or a little better than what I expected.

Terrible. It sank into the ground on one side. Bob wouldn't back up his guarantee, wouldn't return my calls. Had to hire someone else to take it apart and redo. I would never recommend this company.

Easy to work with. They worked hard to come up with a plan. Agreed on cost.

Got a quote, hired him, and got a new deck out of it. Everything went as it should have.

I hired Bob to install a patio, do some landscaping around it and replace a deck pier that I was having trouble with. In general the quality of the work seemed to be good to the casual observer. I continued to have trouble with the deck pier though and the following summer, even though Bob guaranteed his work and said he would replace the pier if I had trouble with it, he could not be reached. I left numerous messages for him and called him many times, all without success.

This summer I finally had another company replace the pier that he replaced. When the pier he put in was removed it was found to be absurdly substandard. In performing other maintenance on our landscaping I've found other areas where the work was clearly done poorly, presumably to save Northland time and money.

Bob Kreft, the contractor, was most helpful in explaining to me the advantages and disadvantages of the types of materials I wanted to use in this project. My interest was in installing high quality materials that would 1) be modern and attractive, 2) maintain their good looks in our severe Minnesota weather, and 3) not need replacement for 20-30 years.

We ended up with a beautiful design that included a gray composite deck accented with black metal railings; paver stairs, walkway and patio; and tumbled block retaining walls. He made an existing treated wood deck under a gazebo in the backyard look like new by overlaying it with composite to match the new deck. He settled a need for a hand rail by the new paver stairs by finding and installing a railing that complemented the deck railing. His attention to detail and communication with me as the work progressed was outstanding. He followed through with finishing touches most contractors would not have bothered with. He and his workers were punctual, courteous, professional and always willing to answer questions. It was a very positive experience working with this contractor.

Northland also did some roof repair, painted some some outside concrete block walls, rebuilt an enclosure for a basement entrance next to the deck, and laid new sod where needed. All of the work was of the highest quality. This was the second time Northland has done work for me and I would highly recommend this company.

It went very well. The owner, Bob Kreft, is always on the job and takes great pride in his work. He has an old-fashioned work ethic of quality and personal attention to detail. He is readily accessible and agreeable to talk over any changes or questions. I had several old gardens with established perennials to remove and the crew was very careful to preserve them and replant elsewhere at my direction. Pavers that were installed look great -- Bob took a lot of care in placement and creating a pleasing pattern. He used sod in long strips so that when the grass is laid, the cut edges do not show, and the lawn looks established immediately. Landscape design and irrigation system are done by subcontractors. The job took about two weeks. It was a very positive experience working with Bob and his crew, and I have already engaged him again to build a deck, retaining wall and pavers in my backyard the spring of 2011.
