They started on the proper date, however we were promised construction managment and a full crew, but we had only a one or two workers at a time working on the home. There was no construction manager, and we had three children working on the home. The workmanship quality is poor and unsatisfactory, many of our concerns were not addressed, and company demanded payment within 24 hours of presenting an invoice. They charged for work not completed, and refused to return to repair or resolve items that were unsatisfactory to my husband and I. The company failed to issue a lien waiver for a payment we made to the company, and issued an amendment to the contract a month after we moved into the unfinished home without any discussion, approval, or signature on our part. This company also allowed one of their subcontractors to charge thousands of dollars above the contracted amount without any written chage orders or justification for the charges. We had a few subcontractors and a supplier tell us they would put liens on our home if we did not pay their unsubstantiated charges. We discovered several thousand dollars of bills on the home remained unpaid by Red Pine Log Homes, Inc., after we had paid Red Pine Log Homes, Inc. for work completed according to the contract and had already moved in to the unfinished home. This company placed a mechainc's lien on our property, and has refused several out of court settlements offers we have made to resolve the matter amicably. Based on our experience, this company is unwilling to work with the customer or resolve matters amicably. The company has been under investigation by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry since March 2010 (today's date 08 April 2011), and they were also reported to the Minnesota Attorney Generasl Office, and the Minnesota and North Dakota Better Business Bureau. I believe there are building code violations based on reviewing the Minnesota Residentail Building Codes. The company did not complete the home according to our agreement or the signed contract, and the company failed to complete some of the work contracted for. The company has not returned to finish the home or resolve our concerns with the home. We feel it is unjust to be charged for work that was not completed and what we feel are unjustified charges and overcharges by the contractor and its subcontractors.
