The alignment was never done on the initial visit despite my being charged for it. When I called to book another appointment they were not too enthusiastic about my bringing it back and offered an appointment the following week. When I insisted it be fixed sooner they were able to work me in.
The girl at the counter couldn't produce the before and after specs for the alignment when I asked. So we brought it back for a second visit and it was realigned. This time she could produce the specs. When the vehicle was ready for pickup the second time, the man on the phone told my husband that there machine was out of alignment. But since it was exactly the same before and after the initial visit I suspect that it was never completed. Also, no apologies.
When I picked it up the second time they kept me waiting for someone to pull my vehicle up front. After waiting 15 minutes I finally asked for my keys and walked through the lot to find it. Good thing I have an antenna ball or I might still be there.
I have used this dealership for years. They have always been like this. Whenever there is a problem they bend over backwards to take care of it. Once when they repaired a previous vehicle and it wouldn't start the service manager came to my house to see what the problem was!
I wouldn't take my Ford anywhere else. They are the reason I buy Fords.
I had two instances where I took my car in for an oil change and had repairs recommended. I alway appreciate the recommendations, but when quoted prices, I tend to call around and check on them. In both of these instances, the repairs were major. A transmission service and suspension service were recommended. I found comparable places that would do each job at least $200 cheaper than Apple Valley Ford.
Their customer service is good, but these prices are a bit out of control. They even want to charge a labor cost to change an air filter when they are holding it in their hand. Many mechanics make enough of the part that they waive the installation fee unless you requested to have it done.
The final straw for Apple Valley Ford was when my automatic sliding door was not working after an ice storm in winter. I took it into the them to get an estimate on fixing the door. They came back to me telling me we would need to replace the motor for $1,700. It's an old car and the door could open and close manually so I decided against the repair. I took it home and looked at it from the outside. I'm no mechanic and not mechanically inclined, but what I noticed was the cable popped off when we opened the door with the ice. I took a screwdriver and pulled the cable back over the knob (which I thought they would have tried) and the door has worked fine ever since.
I think these guys are good for day to day maintenance, but in may experience on major repairs you should price compare and get second opinions.
Most importantly, their prices for the two things needing done, were to be $100.00 less, and when I went for car
they had found the correct source of the leak. They didn't do the unnecessary work that mechanic at other garage
had told me needed done. I plan to take all 3 cars to them, as of now.
