Admittedly, my dealings with R&D were a small project. Yet, when a man arrives right on time, does fine work, is extremely pleasant, answers questions and then under-bills for his time due to what only he considered a short waste of time from an unavoidable mish-mash of 45-year old wiring in my house, he definitely gets my recommendation. I dealt with the owner/operator of R&D, Rick, and I suggest that you do the same and you are likely to be pleased with your choice.

Ok, so I'm not even sure if the electrician we used is an actual employed of R & D, Electric, however he used the company name and number to pull a permit for our house, when he was apparently laid off. If he was employed with them then maybe they should rethink it!!!
So basically we got Carl Woods as a reference. He was supposed to have been laid off. He gave us a decent bid on re-wiring our kitchen, changing the light fixtures in the house, and changing out all of the outlets and light switches too. He quoted us approx. $2000 and said it would take him about 40 hours to complete the job. At first we were pleased because he started 2 days later. He worked for about 2 days and then disappeared for about a week. I called him and asked him if when he was going to come back. He told me that he would be back the next day, which he was. This went on like this for about 3 months. He would come a do work for a few hours and then disappear for sometimes 2 weeks at a time. He made numerous excuses to why he always had to leave after 1-2 hours of work. Needless to say the 40 hours of work was not getting completed in a timely fashion.
On October 27th, I sent him a text message asking is he was going to come back and and install the light fixture in our dining room since we had been without one for 3 months. He said he would and he did come the next day to install it. However, he did not hook it up and we were left with a light fixture in our dining room that did not work at all. He did not even install a light switch for it!!! Well, that was the last time we heard from Carl. He had not called us, nor had he come to finish any of the work. It was a little over 3 months when he finally did send me a text message asking if the kitchen was finished. Hmmm...let me think about that, no it's not because you left and never came back.
OH!!! And on top of that we had a new electrician come in to finish the work Carl did not complete only to find out that everything he had done was wrong and had to be redone. Thankfully no money ever passed hands (nor was a contract signed) with him since my husband and I paid for the supplies ourselves. The new electrician is STILL trying to fix everything that this guy did!!! And to top it all off, a permit was pulled and we have no idea if the work was actually inspected by the city. GREAT!!!
I would never recommend this electrician (or this company if in fact he's working for them or they are allowing him to use their number for a permit) to anyone. Absolutely ridiculous!!!

He did great. He showed up on time. He didn't really to take a break. I was able to be around most of the time that he was here and tried to offer him a break and a soda pop, but he just kept right on working and working. He worked until the work was done. The price was definitely under $1000, maybe even under $500.

He did the work in 4 hours, and the state inspector approved it all. He cost a lot less than another estimate I had received.
