OVERGROWN TREE SERVICE

Found on Craigslist. Left message. prompt return call. Delivered wood within 24 hours. Free-stacked wood, meaning the the ends were boxed for free standing, even though I provided wood rack. By boxing the ends, vendor is not providing the same volume of wood as a vendor that stacks 100% of the wood the same way. I estimate that you receive at least 20% less when wood is stacked this way, but this is my personal opinion. Proceeded to tell me that all firewood vendors sell wood this way, which is not true. I've been buying and burning firewood for 14+ years and have never purchased firewood this way. I tried to discuss this with him, but vendor chose not to believe my story. Requested that the vendor stack without boxing the ends , tried to reason with vendor to no avail. Rather than demand that the vendor remove the firewood be removed from my premises after it was already 1/2 full, I chose to accept getting less than my fair share. A mistake. Called to complain to the owner, and she directed me to their website: www.overgrowntreeservice.com. She claimed that they fully disclose their stacking technique. What I found is this statement: "At FireMasters, Inc. we sell cut, split, seasoned firewood with free delivery and free stacking" "Free stacking" leads you to believe that there is firewood stacking without charge........NOT TRUE. Fire-stacking must mean boxed ends to support the wood pile freely without the need of a wood rack. Not clear and very assumptive. You have to go deeper into their website for the definition of Free Stacking. "At FireMasters, Inc. our prices include free stacking of your firewood. The wood will be straight stacked between two log cabin style ends". Hunt and click through their website and you'll find the definition eventually. Wood burns fine. But volume of wood delivered does not compare to what you get when wood is all stacked in the same direction. Be careful and specific when purchasing firewood. Many vendors DO NOT box the end as this vendor claims AND charge the same competitive price as this vendor.
