After checking with 2 other companies on price and financing, it was decided to take advantage of a 1 year interest free payment plan through Centerpoint Energy. We contacted them and set up an appointment for installation. on 3/19/2014, we were originally given a 8AM to 12 Noon appointment but was told that because we were making it a week ahead of time, we could count on a 8AM to 10AM window.
Larson Plumbing called 30 minutes ahead of time and 2 men showed up at approximately 9AM. they were quite pleasant, very professional and wasted no time getting started. They allowed me to assist them in draining the old water heater and were very efficient and were finished by 10AM.
They informed me of everything concerning the new hot water heater and even gave me some tips concerning water softeners which I mentioned that I was thinking about purchasing.
The line coming out of my well pump was 3/4and quot; copper, which then opens back up to a 1and quot; for the lawn irrigation system. I wanted to convert the entire line from the well pump to the softener to 1and quot;. Larson did a great job making this happen. They charged a service fee just to drive out plus an hourly rate (not including parts). They mentioned they were thinking of changing their pricing schedule to a flat fee which includes all necessary parts, so be sure to ask what you're getting when you give them a call.
They did not have a part needed, so they left for a bit to grab them, came back and installed the system. The total job took about four hours. They also installed a bleeder valve next to the well pump (which was missing). Before the gentleman left, I asked him if he could look at my kitchen drain, which seemed to be loose. He fixed swiftly at no added charge, despite my offer to pay. He also offered to recycle my old softener for free, but it was full of salt and water, and he humorously said we'd and quot;bustand quot; a certain body part carrying the softener upstairs. I still chuckle when I think of that.
The whole time the servicer was gregarious, and confident in the quality and direction of the work. He also seemed to remember servicing this home decades ago (before I bought it) and had some friendly anecdotes to share. I give this company high marks for the customer experience.
The next day, I noticed there was a very slow leak from one of the joints. A gentleman came out the same day to fix it. Coincidentally, the water lines coming from my kitchen sink were also leaking. The guy fixed both issues at no charge.
One small critique I have about the company is that when I called in August, there seemed to be only one person that handles scheduling. And that person was at a meeting, forcing me to call back later. I've had the same thing happen to me once or twice after this project, which has compelled me to use a different plumbing company on those two occasions. I'm not sure if they're more focused on large projects than just the simple house call, but I'd be willing to call them first next time to see if they're available.
