On 12/31/20, I took our dog over for an appointment to have a couple of growths on her body examined for surgical removal. I did not have my cell phone on me at time. BIG problem. Currently, with COVID-19 protocols in place, they have a rule that you can't come into the building. But, without my phone, there's no way for them to know you've arrived. So, when I got there, I went up to the front door to let them know I was there. They did not see me, so I opened the door to and stepped into their lobby to let them know I was here and ready for the appointment. OH MY GOSH!!! There were five employees sitting at the front desk and in unison, they all forcefully announced, "Get back in your car, sir! You can't be in here!" One lady said something about there being a sign stating you have to text them that you've arrived. I was able to explain that I didn't have my phone with me and had to let them know I was there for our appointment. I told them which vehicle I was mine and returned to my truck. After a couple of minutes, a woman came out to my vehicle to get our dog. I explained to her that I didn't have my phone, again, and she asked me, "Haven't you been here before?" I said, yes, but I had left it at home. At that point, I told her that they might want to work on their bedside manner and that I was very close to just leaving when they were so rude to me inside. She then said, "Well, just go ahead and leave! Get out of here!" I regretfully yelled back at her, "I will you dumb witch!!!" Not a stellar day for me, but you can only poke a dog so many times before it will bite you. These people are military in their attitudes and behavior. They treated me like I had Ebola and was toxic. Needless to say, we will NEVER be using them again for anything. Clearly, they have too many customers already and don't care how they treat people. Yes, rules exist, but you don't have to be mean and rude to people while enforcing them.

Everything went well. We knew our cat was in good hands at Andover Animal Hospital. We have been going to Dr. Wittmer for many years (even before she opened her own office). She is a wonderful, caring vet and we have recommended her office to others. The staff and other vets at Andover are likewise very caring and compassionate.
We have taken 5 pets to Andover over the years and have always been pleased at the compassion shown, especially during difficult pet illnesses (or death).
We have vets closer to our home, but I definitely feel it's worth the drive to Andover Animal Hospital. I like that they know us by name when we call and I love that they truly care for our pets. This is not just a and quot;businessand quot; with them. They are the best!

We have been taking our dogs to Andover Animal Hospital for about four years. The first few visits, our female was a “drama queen,” throwing herself on the floor and squealing as if having surgery without benefit of anesthesia, when Dr. Wittmer simply lifted an ear flap. Our male was afraid, and hid his fear by acting like a tough guy, growling and barking. Dr. Wittmer and her staff handle the very different personalities with ease. Two years ago, our female developed a sudden and very serious condition that gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving. Dr. Wittmer successfully treated her for weeks with medication and frequent monitoring. Each time the doctor called me with the latest lab results, she was as happy as I was when there was an improvement. Dr. Wittmer and her staff explain in detail what treatment options are for each problem, and when possible, she will start with the least expensive and add more tests or treatments only if necessary. And I am given a detailed cost estimate before treatment is started. I would, and have, confidently recommended Andover Animal Hospit

New to the area, I recently moved two basset hounds with me to the north metro and they were living in a more wooded area than before. One of the bassets has had hot spots twice within the four months previous and had seen other vets who simply treated the hot spots and sent me home. This time, the poor guy's itching was over his entire body and on a scale of 1-10 in severity, he was probably an 8 to 9. I was referred to Andover Animal Hospital by one of their other clients and in a hurry, I called them hoping for a same day appointment, as the basset was beginning to break open multiple hot spots on his body. They got me in that afternoon and I saw Dr. Kari Wittmer.
First, let me say that everyone there is professional and caring for pets -- that's very clear. I appreciated that although friendly, no one, from the person at the front desk, to the vet tech to Dr. Wittmer, talked to my pet in an over excited, happy, high pitched voice. This is a common tactic of vet places and it can get even well trained dogs so worked up that they're jumping all over everyone before they even get in the room.
I sat with the tech for a while and explained the progression of the problem for my dog over the past couple days. She took careful notes, asked me to elaborate where necessary and I never felt rushed.
Dr. Wittmer wanted to look over the dog before administering shots and came in for the exam. Again, I was impressed when she got down on the floor, to my dog's height, and examined him there. To me, it showed adaptability to a patient, and for anyone who's been asked to lift a 70 lb. dog onto a stainless steel platform that is slippery and because of it, they get scared, it was a relief. I'm sure she's filthy at the end of the day, but I appreciate it.
During the exam, she's very careful and has a great manner with animals. She explains what she's looking for and seeing during the exam and explains her course of treatment before embarking on it. She deduced that my basset had allergies and explained why he has full body itching and we talked about how the environmental changes that may have caused it. For the first time, a vet explained how I can PREVENT this from happening again, rather than just treating it and sending me on my way.
During the exam, she detected two lumps on his body and suggested testing for something more serious than a cyst. The decision to do so was left up to me with no pressure. She diagnosed a yeast infection in both ears (and complimented me on my ear care for the dog, which anyone who's had a basset knows is a difficult job) probably due to factors other than poor ear care on my part.
She suggested we wait for two weeks to give vaccinations, because of the severity of his condition. I did, however, pre-pay for the vaccinations as part of their adult preventative care program, which is a flat-fee based care program that covers annual costs, gives discounts on several services and products and allows for free exams on any other visits throughout the rest of the year. To me, the program is worth it and the pricing is more reasonable than other vets I've been to.
It may seem like an expensive visit, but in all, I was there almost 1.5 hours, and from previous experiences, I expected the bill to be much larger. Overall, I was very pleased with the care, services and knowledge of everyone at Andover Animal Hospital.

Just moved here from out of state. I was in a panic with our initial visit. I had brought the dogs out to stay in Andover with my husband while I was selling our old house. The morning I was leaving I noticed that both dogs had ear infections, I had to be on the road within 2 hours, husband can't handle both of the dogs at once so he couldn't take them to the vet by himself. I called Andover Animal Hospital and explained what was going on and they managed to get both dogs worked in within my time frame. By the time I had to leave both dogs were seen, given medication for ear infections, had heartworm tests and I had refills on heartworm medication and flea and tick med.

Dr Wittmer was concerned over the growth on our terrier and recommended that it be removed. I scheduled the surgery for when I moved here. (Our old vet had recently died, since I knew we were moving I hadn't taken them to a new vet, was trying to wait until we got relocated to start with new vet.) We were given a detailed, written estimate for the surgery. Got a call after surgery to say how it had gone and asking permission to do an additional lab test that involved additional cost. When I picked up dog one of the vet techs gave me a detailed explanation of what was done, post op instructions and written instructions. I got a call from clinic the following morning to check on dog and since she had had some vomiting another call in afternoon to see how she was and if I thought she needed to be seen that day.

I have found both the vet and the staff to be good with me and good with my dogs. They are good at listening to what my concerns are and at explaining what they are doing while petting and fussing over the animals. If only I could find a medical doctor with such good bedside manner.

One of the little things that I like about the clinic is that instead of waiting to be seen in the main waiting room they have you wait
in the exam room. Seems like a silly thing but with our old vet everyone was in the main waiting room and some of the animals were either sick or anxious and sometimes dogs would be growling at one another or cats were hissing. It just seemed to make all the animals anxious. I like the individual rooms.
