So, I left for work, leaving my wife to ensure she got what she wanted...first mistake on my part. When I came home, I was definitely disappointed.
My expectations, when hiring a professional, is that I will receive a professional quality job. I expect that if the professional is unable to comply with this simple expectation, that he will indicate that and we will find someone more appropriate. I also expect professionals to do installs the same whether the house is a $million mansion or a $100k rambler. We and quot;poor folkand quot; like things to be done right as well.
The and quot;goodand quot;:
He came as expected and when he left, we had a fully functional washer/drier set
The and quot;badand quot;:
Installed in a spot other than where it was expected
Disconnected a sink and left the drain off of is (turning water on = water on my floor!)
Disconnected my water softener and failed to reconnect
and quot;Drainand quot; was nothing more than a piece of PVC crudely cut off and sticking up in the air behind my washer that was tied in to our main drain in a marginally acceptable manner
Hot and cold water hoses were put on incorrect spigots, causing and quot;hotand quot; washes to be cold washes
Drier vent required access to the ceiling...the short span of finished ceiling was literally smashed open to gain access
Took over 6 hours to complete running two water lines, a drain and a vent...none of which were hindered by taking extra care to ensure final happiness of the user
In summary, I probably should not have paid...at least as much as I did, for his services. But my wife and I had been without a washer/drier for two months and she was happy just to have it in and usable. Bottom line, he did accomplish for the most part what we NEEDED...but very little of what we wanted or expected.
