Furniture - Custom Made
$1,600
The first table arrived around late Oct/early November 2013 and it looked beautiful.  By late November/early December we started to notice that it wasn't level.  It was sagging in the middle so much so that a crease was forming in the middle of the table along the top of the slab.  We notified Welcome in early Dec., it took them until late Jan to order a new one and it took until roughly late April/early May for a new table to arrive.  To give a visual, at either end of the long side (72"), you could put down a match box car and it would automatically roll into the middle of the table.  It turns out, the Amish failed to put a reinforcement beam along the length of the table on the underside.
Our 2nd table arrived with a 5th leg in the middle.  When it was delivered, I mentioned that the middle (5th) leg wasn't touching the floor.  I was told that the weight of the table and gravity would press on it and it would touch.  When I suggested that seemed wrong to me, the installers somewhat mocked me and said "Well you don't want it lower than all the other legs or the table will spin around like a top."  I'd suggested that simply having all 5 legs touch the floor at the same time seemed like the best outcome.
By early summer, I was sitting on the floor in the next room and happened to look over at the table from an angle below and saw that now the table looked like a C (it had looked like a U with the first one that was messed up).  So I got out our 6 foot level and placed it on the top of the table.  On either end of the table (long side again), the level was a good 1/2" ABOVE the table surface.  The middle leg (5th) now not only didn't touch the floor but if you bump it with anything, it's so far off the floor that it will just wobble noticeably.
I contacted Welcome AGAIN and didn't get any good response.  A month later I called again to see what was happening and nothing.  In Sept I had an email exchange with the "new" customer service manager who assured me I wasn't going to have to constantly harass them to get this problem resolved and he asked me for pictures which I sent, along with a video of the middle table moving with a bump to it because I can't get close enough underneath so show the gap between floor and table leg with my camera.  6 weeks went by and still nothing happened.
I contacted them again and gave them times I would and would not be available to talk by phone so of course they called when I was unavailable.  I finally got ahold of them today and their amazing resolution was that I can either live with a 2nd warped table (that cost $1600!) or they can take my table away and refund my money, leaving me with an empty kitchen except for the 6 chairs we purchased specifically for that table.  They feel that either one is perfectly acceptable, that I should have to go and find someone new to create another custom table for me (if I can find someone) at whatever cost that might be and however much time it would take because they simply cannot manage to build a straight table.
They are 100% unwilling to re-build a warped table simply because they've given me a shoddy piece of furniture twice, so now I should have to suffer.  When I mentioned that the table is 1/2" lower at either end than in the center, the OWNER said "That's not much.  That's fine."  as if expecting a table to be level and straight is unreasonable.  I have a solid oak table, much heavier, from the 1920s that's been moved all over creation.  It extends to around 8' long.  Guess what?  It hasn't ever warped in either direction so clearly it's possible to make a heavy, straight, flat/level table.  It's just that Welcome doesn't want to fix their mistake AGAIN, as if it's my fault they can't make a table well.
I'd be happy to post a picture showing how the level looks on the table but there's no place to do so on this review.  I will NEVER buy another thing from Welcome and caution anyone else.
