"Review submitted is defaming. I can forward pictures of how we left the project. Client expressed verbally his complete delight with how the project turned out. After the winter of 2019, client expressed problems. The issue is aesthetic, not safety or structural-related. He has a hairline crack that was caused by the MN freeze-thaw cycle. (Pictures can be forwarded - the crack is 1/16 of an inch). The goal is to get the concrete to crack along a control joint that we placed, but sometimes the ground does not cooperate. We have no way of controlling the underlying ground. ALL CONCRETE CRACKS. Please see {link removed} We outline this in our guide and every client signs to this BEFORE we commence work. Client incorrectly says we did not respond to him. We responded in person and in writing (email), but he did not like our response as there are no guarantees that it wouldn’t do it again. Our insurance company is taking care of the apron issue as the heaving of the apron pressed against his garage floor causing some chipping. We can't prevent hairline cracks. Do insurance companies go after the contractors that built the house if it is damaged in an earthquake? Some contractors offer a warranty on cracking - (never seen one for hairline cracks or ground movement). In addition, most contractors that guarantee for cracks related to other issues charge 2 to 3 times the price that we do. We’ve explored both options and feel that it’s in the consumer’s best interest to charge less and take the risk. As you can see from our other reviews that this client’s history (he needs to undertake “another lawsuit”), that this problem was unique to him and his own personal expectations."
"One of the challenges of doing specialty concrete work is managing expectations. Although we are clear in our written material that customers read and sign to before accepting the bid regarding what constitutes concrete work and what constitutes landscaping, sometimes customers are disappointed that once our phase of the project is complete that there still needs to be repair to the ground around the slab. The pictures customers often see online are of the final project once landscapers have built up the ground around the slab and either installed sod, plants, flowers, or re-seeded the area. We would love to leave the site with that look, but would need to entirely change our business model to accommodate these requests. When customers do have these requests, we can accommodate only if mentioned before the project begins as we often subcontract this to landscapers. We regret that expectations weren't met, but glad that [Member Name Removed] wrote this review as others need to know how it works when you hire a specialty contractor."
"[Member Name Removed] paid $2460 for this colored patio that was poured on October 18, 2017. Please see the pictures below of the project the day we left it. [Member Name Removed] paid for the project without comment or concern until June 15, 2018, when a neighbor told him this was not correct. We scheduled a meeting with him to address his concerns. As you can see from his pictures as well as ours, the issue is the landscaping, not the concrete. There are a couple of ways to pour a patio. Thickened edges with a finished face, such as is done on front steps is one option. Most are not finished such as sidewalks and patios as you see here. From what we understand, [Member Name Removed] is angry because he was never informed of a finished option. [Member Name Removed] contacted us through Angie's list on Sept. 26, 2017. He was very specific with his request and stated they would be placing a screened-in porch on top. He even submitted drawings. We were able to do the bid online without meeting. He hired us without meeting about the project and was not there the day of the pour to go through the project with our staff. We do require that all customers read and sign to our CCC Guide which states that we don't build up the ground around the concrete after a pour or do any landscaping unless it was specifically stated in the estimate. [Member Name Removed] signed to this. As far as we knew, he understood what he was getting, but it seems now, eight months later, he blames us for not giving him more information. [Member Name Removed] would be pleased to know that he can still pay more and get a finished-face as he suggested he would do, but during our meeting on Saturday, June 24th, Chris couldn't get to that solution as [Member Name Removed] was convinced we had done him wrong and kept asking the same questions over and over.
