Description of Work: We needed about 6 trees cut down and huge ones trimmed. We needed skilled AND Maplewood licensed tree service, because trees were over our house & neighbors. Many drive-by tree service companies over last 2 years had "deals" but were not licensed (wouldn't show me). License sticker on truck for another city didn't mean my city. Arborist Matt at SavaTree/St.Croix cared about neighbor & our yard during original visit for estimate. Matt bid on what we wanted/budgeted (plus some good advice) without "pushing" us to do additional work for $4,000-$10,000 that other trimmers wanted us to do to make more profit. St. Croix turned branches into wood chips and trunks into 16" logs for us to split later. They stacked logs. Other trimmers wouldn't do chips or logs at all; some wanted to charge more. Some trimmers wanted to rollover and cut down bushes/small trees to get to those we wanted cut. SavaTree/St. Croix promised to try and then protected them while dropping big branches. When we discovered possible damage beneath leaves/mulch to neighbor's plastic border around hostas, crew leader Chris went directly to neighbor to discuss. Neighbor said that was from lawn mover, not SavaTree. I like that upfront honesty. The 3 trimmers were professional, friendly but focused on their jobs, careful and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves.

Description of Work: Spray for Japanese beetles, trim trees, remove a tree. remove unwanted brush. |They worked very hard all day long, 3 of them and they asked about what was done and if anything was not done, and asked if there was anything else we wanted done. Pick up well. Did a preview of what they were going to do and walk around, did a mid-work check on what was being done (3 times) and did a check at the end to be sure we were happy with what was done. Cleaned up very well.

Description of Work: trimmed two trees, one maple, one ash.

Description of Work: This is a difficult evaluation because of contrasts. I had one huge maple tree (42" diameter) removed, one mature ash removed and a large maple tree trimmed/shaped. The crews that actually came out and did the work (removal crew/trimming crew/stump removal crew/cleanup crew) all did excellent work and were very professional, helpful and courteous. However, the 'Arborist' who I worked with was much less so. I never met him face to face. Even though I very specifically requested that I be notified at least a day in advance that a crew was coming to work, in 3 of the 4 visits by crews I was NOT notified, they just showed up. Each time I called to emphasize my desire to be notified in advance so I could be present. In each case I was unable to reach the Arborist with my call and requested a call back .... to no avail .... the next crew would show up unannounced. Luck and a phone call from my wife were the only reasons I was present for 3 of 4 visits. The stump grinder came and went without me being present. The job stretched out over four months from my first call/contact to completion of the job. There was a billing issue at the end of the line. I put down half of the estimate (@$1100) as a down payment but got a bill for the remainder before the job was complete. I called the billing office and advised them I would pay them off when the job was completed and was told that was fine. When the job was finally completed, I paid them using the electronic paymemt tool on their website. After receiving another bill three weeks later , and more phone calls, I was told that for unknown reasons my electronic payment couldn't be processed by them when they received it, so they just billed me again. Had they communicated with me about the problem with their payment tool I could have taken care things immediately. My eval above is probably a little high bbecause I was very impressed by the professionalism of their workers that actually did the job.

Description of Work: Trimmed and removed trees. Went well. We have used them many times.

Description of Work: Take down/removal of large tree branch that was damaged by a recent storm, plus taking some branches down on two other trees to keep from hitting the roof & power lines.

Description of Work: St.croix tree service removed 2 trees from our front yard. Very efficient and did a nice job cleaning up the yard after they were done. Am using them again to remove trees in our back yard too.
