Macatawa Plumbing did a great job for us. We were referred to them by Jim Dokter's Home Inspection, since we just moved in to an older house with some known plumbing problems. The plumber was a great listener, was very clean, neat, professional, and efficient. He did a great job. We also had him take a look at removing an old water softener, replacing exterior water c****, and replacing some water fixtures and toilets. He also referred us to BJW Berghorst showroom, where they have a 20% discount on materials, when Macatawa does the work. We highly recommend Macatawa Plumbing.

Overall, I was please with Macatawa. They, for the most part, do a quality job. There were a couple of things that made me mark them down a notch.
On their first visit to do some tear out of old plumbing, they sent 2 workers, and apparently only 1 reciprocating saw. So the 2nd guy grabs my brand new saw and goes to town with it. Didn't ask, didn't hint that he needed it, just starts cutting. I figured this out later when my saw was left in the basement, covered in water spots, nowhere near it's case, and the blade was shot.
I explained the layout, and where I wanted the tiled shower drain, and control valves. This was apparently too much work for them to move, so the position ended up back in the exact same place as the old drain I cut out.
Overall, things came out alright. The plumbing seems to work.( Just finished today, so testing continues.)

Arrived fifteen minutes early, ready to go. The installation of the water heater was done in an hour and a half and they took the old one with them. Nice and no fuss for me! They also repaired an outside water faucet in less than 1/2 hour.
The guy who did the work was extremely friendly and professional. They were $50 more than another quote I received, but I would definitely work with these guys again.

They took care of the problem but then the problem reoccurs. Customer service is really good. They are very friendly and they're very prompt.

He arrived on time. He did the work quickly. He cleaned up afterwards. Very polite. Very kind to my 4 and 1 1/2 year olds who were quite curious about what he was doing.

The house we bought in August 2010 was built in 1921 and has an incoming water pipe from 1924. Needless to say, the water pressure was horrible. A representative came out earlier this year and looked at just the pipe in the basement that leads out of the foundation. There was a frozen valve that he said should be replaced. At that time, the plumber did not recommend excavating the whole incoming pipe because he felt it might not be needed for the immediate future. He determined that roughly two feet of pipe and the valve would be replaced. The plumber was right on time, very courteous and professional.

On the scheduled day of the replacement, a different plumber came to our house right on time, and within 45 minutes did not replace the pipe but provided us with a new valve. We did not need a new meter even though the first plumber thought that might be necessary; the young man said the meter worked fine. We were quoted the price we paid - that would be my only complaint - 2 hours of estimated time was reduced to 45 minutes, but the price remained the same.

The pressure is better (can run two faucets now), but eventually the original pipe will have to be replaced. The company sent us an invoice to our Chicago residence as requested, and we will most likely use them again for our other plumbing needs because of their professionalism and courtesy.
