HOONHORST CONCRETE

The garage floor is fine. The three driveway sections began flaking and pitting less than one year after being installed. I contacted Mr. Hoonhorst and, after looking at the driveway, he said it was due to "a bad batch of concrete". He applied an "overlay", which was supposed to stop the flaking. It did not.  The problem continued to get worse, Hoonhorst continued to look at it every year when I called him, and offered no solution. Finally, after I contacted him again in spring of 2014, he came out and started chipping away the loose concrete so he could patch it. I told him he should stand behind his work and replace the concrete properly. And if the problem was defective concrete, he should get the concrete company to replace it. He refused to do anything other than patch it by hand.  Since we did nothing wrong, and had paid for intact concrete rather than a patchwork mess, I told him not to bother.  We obviously did not get what we paid for and Mr. Hoonhorst had no intention of "making it right" (his frequent promise to me).  I would not use this contractor again, as he did not stand behind his work. 

Awful. Contractor poured the concrete and then left. It was during the summer and a pop up shower came by and ruined the concrete. The contractor came back and put plastic over the concrete and tried to re-broom the surface. The surface was ruined and now the surface has little or no traction and has pits from the rain drops all over the surface.
